Title: NFL Half Way
Post by: Snaggletiger on November 05, 2018, 11:19:44 PM
Disclaimer:  For those of you that don't give a fuck, spare me. Those that do or at least follow it, this is about the half way point in the NFL season.

The L.A. Rams and N.O. Saints look to be the class of the NFL, with Brady and the Pats, right there maybe a slight step behind.

Just finished watching the Cowboys and Titans.  When...the....fuck....are they going to part ways with Jason Garrett?  Does he have pedophile pics of Jerry Jones? What could possibly cause this man to keep Garrett around?

Cam and the Panthers....sneaky good.  No one is talking about them.  But they just keep on winning.

My Birds.  Starting to get a little chub over my Falcons.  4-4 and the offense is suddenly lethal and the D is getting it done.  Pay attention.  Don't sleep on the Birds.

Da' Bears are back in the conversation.  Kalhil Mack has been injured but they just keep rocking on.

BTW, heard a stat this morning.  The two L.A. teams, Chargers and Rams are a combined 13-4.  The two New York teams, Jets/Giants, are a combined 4-13.

So to hell with those still kneeling bastards!
And the unAmerican trash that supports them!

Whew. I feel better now!

Carry on!

There's right at 1,700 players in the NFL.  I haven't heard of more than a handful still doing the kneeling thing.  A couple on the Dolphins.  One on the Panthers, who was Kraperdump's teammate at SF.

If a bunch of them are still doing it, I'm not aware of it.  Or maybe the press is over it and not covering it.  Which is how it should be.  Stop giving them attention and they'll stop doing it.

IT'S FOOTBALL!

Enjoy it while you can because in 20 years or less, the sport won't exist.

Falcons have the 7th worst D in the NFL - around 28-29 ppg. I agree their O is legit though. Always has been. Matt Ryan takes a lot of unfair blame to me.

The Garrett stuff is similar to Gus. Good OC. His in game demeanor is one thats confused and befuddled. Sad part is Dallas has the 2nd best D in the League behind only Tennessee (i know right?). That team is top 5 in talent. And Garrett is supposed to be an offensive genius of sorts but thats the teams weak link. But he keeps getting contracts and raises despite the trend of being slightly above avg. Sound familiar?

I was worried about Sarkisian after the huge drop off in numbers last year.  The play calling looks much better this year.  Defensively, the Birds lost a lot early to injuries and went through a 3-4 game stretch where they couldn't stop anybody.  They're playing a lot better the last few games, though.

Yeah GF, I forgot KC.  Heard someone call them a track team that plays football.  I can't think of a team I've cared less about than the Chiefs, but I have to admit, they are fun to watch.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the NFL season this year, as my fantasy team is 9-0 in a money league.  Money always makes things better, as does beating your co-workers in fantasy football.  A big thank you to Cam, Philip Rivers (2 QB league), Run CMC, and James Conner.  As for the kneeling bullshit, I don't like it either.  But the way I see it, for every Eric Reid in the league you have one or two Al Villanueva or Larry Fitzgerald.  It's just like anything else; just because a handful in a group believe something I don't agree with doesn't mean I'm going to stereotype the whole group.

There is no reasoning when it comes to people who disrespect my country and my flag.
There are only those that compromise their beliefs. And that is OK. Just call it what it is.

This is a great example.  I disagree with your stance on this, but I respect your right to have that opinion.  I also think the ones kneeling, etc are idiots because I do not agree with those who disrespect the flag, law enforcement, or this country either.  I simply choose to not label an entire group because of a small percentage.  Are all white people racist because of the KKK?  Are all Muslims terrorists because of 9/11?

I thoroughly enjoyed every second of this game. Brees is incredible and the first half of this game was some of the best QB play, on both sides, I have seen in a while. I think there were a total of 4 incompletions in the first half while both QBs threw around 40 passes. That's insane. Both dudes were dropping dimes and it was incredible to watch purely as a football fan.

For all the hype of the Brady/Rodgers match-up, the level of play was FAR beneath the Saint/Rams match up.

JJ watt, Aaron Rodgers, Todd gurley - they’ve done nothing to me to offend.

In fact they do good shit. So I have no qualms watching guys like that. Will I ever watch kapernick if he gets a gig on a team? No. But that won’t keep me from watching the good guys who don’t partake in the nonsense.

They are voluntarily a part of an organization that accepts it. I will not contribute to that organizations coffers. If that is your way of reasoning, so be it. I can support those guys' charities and get the same satisfaction.

So surprised at how easily Big Ben is carving up the Panthers D.  But then, I've watched several Pittsburgh games this season and he looks better than I've ever seen him.  Plus, not only does he have 2-3 serious playmakers at receiver, he also has two badass TE's that they consistently go to. Add Connor at RB, who's churning out 100 yard performances, I'd put Pitt in that top 3-4 teams in the league mix.

Unbelievable one on tonight.  K.C. at L.A. Rams.  Frick me if I'm wrong, but I believe I heard the over/under was 63.  It's half time and they're knotted at 23-23.  These two offenses are incredible.  Goff and Mahomes are completely different in style but both are quickly becoming elite NFL QB's.  Mahomes is Favre, Elway, Rodgers all tied up in one.  Certainly not putting him on their level but his style reminds you of all 3.

Okay, the Anthony Feel The Schwartz challenge to Tyreek Hill....Come on, man.  Maybe if they line up for the 100 yard dash and use strictly straight line speed.  But Hill has the fastest burst and is the absolute quickest mofo I've ever seen.  Bar none.  I think Schwartz needs to slow his roll a bit.

Now, as good as these two teams are...it's the cheatin' Saints and everybody else right now.  Nobody is on their level at this point.  Scary good.

Wild game. A lot of defensive TDs along with the offense-a-palooza we got.

Also, keen job of keeping politics in that part of the forum.

A lot of the discussion on the national shows is whether the NFL is becoming the Big 12 as far as some of the track meets like last night. Scoring may be up the league.  I haven't looked at the numbers, but for the most part, I see 3 teams in KC, the Rams and Saints who caught lightning in a bottle and know how to put it in the end zone early and often.  The rest of the games seem to be as usual.  Most games in the 20's.

One note on the cheatin' Saints.  I went to a Falcons/Taints game year before last.  Drew Brees is the most frustrating mofo on the planet if you're against him.  I'm telling you, it's the weakest arm I've ever seen at that level.  And the guy drops it in the perfect spot every single time.  Contrast that to Mahomes last night.  With a flick of the wrist, that guy can rip it 30 yards downfield on a rope.  But, other than Super Bowl wins, Brees is probably going to wind up shattering about every record out there.

Cheatin' Bastage!

As a lifetime Saints fan, I constantly wait for the real Saints to show up, but aside from that game vs TB, they haven’t.

The defense on Thursday was the closest to the Dome Patrol that I’d seen in years. 26 yards rushing?  That’s insane.

Back on the football note.  Games were spread out with it being Thanksgiving week and games played over a 4 day period.  Cheatin' Saints kept it rollin' against my wait til next year Birds.  Rams and Chiefs have some extra days off after their track meet.  One team that people need to start taking notice of are the San Diego L.A. Chargers.  Consistently kicking some ass while staying in the shadows.  Phillip Rivers completed over 25 passes in a row today.  Seriously?

Pats took care of business to go 8-3.  The Dolphins choked away a game against Indy, who have now won like 5-6 in a row.  Cam went 25-30 but in the end, it was Russell Wilson who cut their heart out with a minute to play.  I knew it as soon as the Seasquawks got the ball after a Gano missed FG.  Game over.

One game to keep an eye on this next weekend.  The red hot Chargers go to Pittsburgh.  That game might be epic.  Bananas even.  Good stuff going down the stretch.
