Title: The Path Starts Through Texas A&M
Post by: The Six on October 30, 2018, 09:57:13 AM
Enough kvetching. Gus is here to stay. Let's shine a little light and talk about how Auburn can start a run that will be remembered for the ages, ripping off four straight wins to finish a season that went sideways in terms of expectations.

The Aggies rank 4th in the SEC in Total Offense. They average just over 460 yards a game (276 passing, 186 rushing) and they do it fast, averaging under 30 mins. a game in possession.

The Aggies defense comes in at 4th in Total Defense. They surrender 330 yards a game (some of that is skewed by what Mississippi State and Alabama did to them) and give up over 6 yards a play.

So Auburn's path in this one is to establish the ground game by letting Stidham and the WRs catch 1st down short passes while Auburn controls time of possession. The LBs will need to cover those TAMU TEs and the front seven needs to squash their run game while harassing QB Kellen Mond.

It's not going to be easy but Texas A&M is not some juggernaut. All it takes is one more point than them to win it. So, how do we get there?

Thoughts? Other areas where Auburn needs to succeed to secure the win?
All it will take is a good week of practice.  Oh, and if Auburn outscores aTm in all 4 quarters, there's a pretty good chance they win.

Turn back into the Auburn that throttled UGA and Alabama to close out the regular season last year.  More specifically,  the offensive line would have to play out of its mind.

That is the $32M question.

I'd like to know the status of our injured guys, which Gus is not going to tell us about.  Most notably, the Boobie.  No doubt it was a hammy the way he pulled up and grabbed it against OM.  If he's back at or near 100%, I like our chances.  If he's out, we done IMO.  Kam Martin, Lizard Lite and Pudding Miller ain't taking us to the promised land Saturday.

Driscoll went down as well but that may be a good thing.  Not the injury....the replacement.  They said Troxell graded out very well when he came in.  I know Jamel Dean will be back at corner.

Yeah.  The first part of that isn't happening. Against my better judgement I'm going to watch the first series Saturday.  If it's dive, dive, bomb, punt?  I won't watch another minute of a game all season.

X’s & O’s: Wide Receiver Slip Screen.

BIL story.  Was watching the AU/MSU game at the BIL's a few weeks ago.  His neighbor came over with beerz. LSU fan.  Auburn lines up for a play.

Me:  Slip screen left side.

Neighbor:  Slip screen?

BIL:  Slip screen.

AU runs a failed slip screen.

Neighbor:  How the hell did you know that?

BIL: We've seen this movie before.

Neighbor:  If you guys know what they're running, I imagine MSU knows that too.

Me:  Like he said, we've seen this movie before.

Need to limit Boobie's carrys then. One little tweak from overwork and we mail it in. How stupid is Gus?

On this playcalling kvetch, if we execute the play as we should, it won't matter what the defense knows or doesn't know. Virginia Tech knew what Georgia Tech was going to do last week. Jackets still rolled 400+ yards on the ground on those dudes.

Execute.

Not true.

Knowing generally what a team is going to do is vastly different than knowing exactly what they are going to do.

I'd go with another example to make my point.  2-7 Old Dominion rolled up 49 points and 632 yards on VT too.

BTW, Liberty beat ODU 52-10.

I'd like to see a renewed rested Auburn team come out and play like the talent they have. We honestly have 3 winnable games left.

What we will see is the same old song and dance, with maybe....maybe a 2-2 ending, best case.

Spoiler alert: I think Georgia goes down this weekend. I think we can get those a-holes. 3-1 is doable. 4-0 is not as crazy as some may think.

Got to take care of the Aggies first. F they 12th man. F they faux troops. F Jimbo.

Running the read option Hunh with Marshall, mason, Coates and a great OL, sure. We ran it right at them and nothing they could do about it.

This bullshit offense we run now? Nah. And with the personal we have? Nah. Not even close. Stidham has been read like a book this year by opposing dbs and lbs.

https://www.breakthesilencedv.org/beat-that-seven-times-statistic/

On average, a woman will leave an abusive relationship seven times before she leaves for good, according to The National Domestic Violence Hotline (http://www.thehotline.org/2013/06/50-obstacles-to-leaving-1-10/). And although society might question this statistic, and how it is possible for survivors to return to their abusers, there are many factors that play into leaving an abusive relationship permanently. So, if you are one of those people who have returned to your abuser, understand that it is a difficult process, and you shouldn’t feel shame about having gone back. However, here at Break the Silence Against Domestic Violence, we want to help you find resources and support for staying away from those unhealthy relationships.

Kaos keeps looking for the best horror movie, meanwhile, all he has to do is watch AU every Saturday.  I done watched that movie 1000 times and it always ends the same.

2013 Gus can run as fast and as far away as he wants, but 2015 Gus just keeps finding him.
