It's Southern Miss week which should mean a final tune up before running the coming 5-game SEC gauntlet:
@ Mississippi State
Tennessee
@ Ole Miss
OFF
Texas A&M
@Georgia.
However, we need more than a tune up - we need a rebuilt engine (o-line) and we needs some faster tires (RBs) to get on track. Fixing the first should aid in fixing the other (unless the tires are as bad as it seems). Also need to get the driver (QB) to stop jerking all over the road. Of course, if the crew chief (HC) would get his head out of his ass it might help.
Auburn is a 30.5 favorite in this game. We might cover because the defense is a bunch of bad, knife-eating dudes so the Goldenshower Eagles shouldn't score much.
What do you all think? Does the car get fixed and back in the lead lap? Or do we get put in the wall and puss out?

I expect a 35-3, 38-10 type of game.
450 yards of total offense.

Sounds about right.
Most offensive improvement is likely to be fool's gold given the competition.

This will be from 42 screens. Thus solidifying the screen as our number one option!
I want to see Shivers on the speed sweep. Flash is fast, but does not have the same cut up the field ability that Shivers has. And Shivers is almost as fast.

Agreed. There's just nothing about this offense, from the O-line all the way down to play calling, that gives cause for even minimal chub.
With Stidham playing as bad as he is, and I'm sorry folks, he looks horrible, it's back to the same, ole thing for a Malzahn offense. If we're running it well, we're pretty damn effective in every facet of the game. If we're not, the offense is dead in the water. Coming into this season, the obvious question was the O-line. But, I was thinking if those concerns turned out to be warranted, we still have an experienced QB with a great arm and a stable of receivers that can do it all. We should still be able to sling it around enough to win most games. Not the case.
BTW, JS is 63 of 97. 65% 718 yards 3TD's and 2 INT's. Not much production in the Whaddaya Want? TD! What's That? Touchdown! department. But not bad numbers overall. He just looks lost to me out there. Like he can't pull the trigger.

Check out the above passing graphic that any 49 million dollar genius ought to be able to access for both defense and offense. Jeez they even have this for run games. Wouldn't surprise me if they even have combinations of both. Might even aid anyone interested in making...halftime adjustments. Holy shit there's an idea.
It's not rocket surgery. And there are multiple variations of this available.
Let's see...have we run a jet sweep or a wheel route? Why no!
Stidham completed 11 in a row this past Saturday and the "lost" part as you say is answering the criticism of holding the ball too long by RUNNING.
This porous offensive line is going to continue to be our undoing as long as GusChip keep calling these failing dive plays behind no real push.
*Also feel (among others) that Martin got the start against Arky almost as an appeasment.
Jmar wants us to use the pass (60/40) to set up the run until we can get a grasp of who, what play and/or what side is our strongest.
Should be playing to our strengths, not our weaknesses. We barely have receivers running patterns beyond linebackers. Spread the ball around, watch the run game improve.

Not to excuse anything because it’s all true but if I remember right approx this time last year we almost fell to Mercer and looked as bad as I’ve ever seen. Even the opener with Clemson was BAD. Stidham was horrid.
By the Aggie game til the end of season we looked like a steam roller. Things can change and I hope they do.

So you're saying that we can expect Gus to be making 14M a year next year?

Extension! Let's lock it up now.
I still feel like Arkansas trolled us......HARD.

What does it say about the powers that be at AU, that this was about the 5th time we got trolled by Arkansas? Granted, it was more likely Jimmy Sexton, or whoever was repping Tuberville. But we always seem to be scared of losing our corch to the Hawgs. The next coach we hire better not have even driven through that state.

Sorry, but Lashlee went to school there.

Correct. However, is anyone else tired of the fact that it takes this staff/team 4 or 5 games to get it together?
-
Fully expecting to see about 500 yards of offense, with 375-425 of that coming on the ground. Gus will be giddy, saying "see, I told you we were close!" Nevermind the fact that they come in giving up 5 yards a carry...
-
I felt pretty good after the first two games, with the exception of Stidham really not looking very sharp. But, I thought with his talent and our WR's, that would unfuck itself. BTW, Washington is giving up less than 13 points a game through 4. Pretty dang skippy no matter the competition.
Looking back on LSU, I thought we did some good things against a really athletic defense, but went into a don't lose it mentality on offense (Coaching) and ultimately let the game get put in the referees' hands. Still feeling okay about things and getting on that mid season roll. Then, last Saturday happened. What an offensive abortion that was. The D was great. 3 points allowed against any team, much less an SEC club, is skippy in it's own right. But, the longer that game went on, the more I wanted it to be over. We got worse on offense with every possession.
Better get to unfucking this weekend.

They may have but they still don't beat us. I will take our situation over theirs any day.

You forget that the Lesbian works for the Gatahs now.

This will not happen. Just saying.

I was tired of that about 4 years ago. I'm also tired of the fact that once a RB is found to be the "bell cow", we run him into an early retirement.

And only 6 more years of it...

The lynchpin is always LSU. If we can throw that one away annually as an offering to the football gods we win 8 games.
And let me tell ya...jmar looked ahead at their roster and there's no way we beat those swamp rats for at least two more seasons, so we have that going for us.

If we got trolled it was by his agent. Not Arkansas. Their interest in him was sincere.

Kj did have a great first game with the lions.

I swear jmar, I don’t know what it is. But you make more sense as of late than I’ve ever known you to.
Have they changed cocktail hour at the nursing home, by chance?

Had to adjust intake due to some temporary health issues.
Gus just needs to spray the ball around to the Jimmys and Joe's and let the rest work itself out. It's that simple.
This is the overall weakest line we've had since Cam left. Needs to play to our strengths which is speed...not power. Jmar just wants the dive plays to be fewer and more timely instead of mere filler for the fucking lazy, uncreative shithead calling our plays. Welcome back WT.

I take it you don’t understand the true importance of running 42 screens a game!
-

Yeah to the point that it becomes like a slow developing run play doomed for failure when overused...in addition to the likelihood of fumbles and penalties that follow.
-
1st qtr against SM with lots of penalties. Most of which on the OL.
-
Fire everyone and require them to retrieve buyout monies from the lukewarm asshole of a dead alpaca.
-
It's so fucking miserably bad that Rod and Stan BOTH are referring to So. Miss as Washington.
So now we've insulted Thor.
Wonderful.
-
No!
-
We look like a pile of dog shit.
Defense & Special Teams will need to continue carrying the load for the rest of the season. If the offense continues to look like they do, 8-4 season is the ceiling.
-
Al Borges could kill everybody with this offense.
-
What the fuck was that?
-
To answer the opening post, no, we will not!
-
Boobie went out with an injury.
K-Mart runs for 90 yards. But, we will need someone like Boobie at RB, maybe someone bigger, like Malik Miller. K-Mart is not a pass protector...lol, smh.
When K-Mart isn't getting thrown around, atleast Shaun Shivers is there to spell him, like those couple of times he got completely mauled in the backfield...
When that fails, atleast we have the unshakable, ice water in his veins Jarrett Stid...I can't finish that with a straight face.

Sure, could give you my analysis about the horrible play calling, poor O line and stidham play and rb depth issues. But just read GH’s post. Save yourself some time.
