Hit JHS this past Saturday for the Sting. Stayed until the ASU band finished, then headed back to the Wiregrass after a quick stop at GH's and Joe's. The new press/recruiting building is complete. Sits just to the right of the Super Mega-Tron JJ 4,000 scoreboard and fits in seamlessly. Not a bad addition and barely noticeable next to that monstrosity.
BTW, have I ever told you how much I hate that damn thing? I swear the stadium looks like it's going to tip over under the weight of it. Absolutely useless. Well useless except for fan-cam and blaring hippity-hop between EVERY SINGLE PLAY. No lie. Every play. Doesn't matter if our band is playing or not, which they were trying to on multiple occasions. Didn't matter one iota. They were going to drown them out with snippets of shitty music between every play. It's horrible. It's morphed into a situation where Auburn is still all about tradition....right up until kickoff.
Another touch, which is somewhat positive. They may have had this some last year but it might have been on the games where I was drinking heavily. The little dude in the red cap that walks out on the field during TV timeouts, now has a digital board with him that counts down the time. As stupid as this sounds, it seemed to make it go by faster. You always sat in the stands staring at him going, "Get the hell off the field. Get the hell off the field."
The only other observation is that it was hot as balls Saturday. And I know balls. It's supposed to be 93 degrees this weekend for the 2:30 kick off.

All that matters is if the majorettes wore the high boots or not!

1. Press box. I heard Stan and Rod complaining about being able to determine down and distance having to work from the corner like that. Having worked many games before and many from the former marvelous wonderful pressbox (the one before that smarmy rodent Jay Jacobs got involved), let me say that jamming the pressbox in ANY corner is funkified bullshit. The perspective is different and it makes calling/writing the game nightmarish. Whoever's idea this was can suck my butt. It's horseshit. I believe this is the doing of Jay Asshole Jacobs. Dickhead. I hate it. The pressbox was refurbished in 1980 and until Jacobs took over as AD, it was one of if not the finest in the nation. Great food, great service, treated with respect. I'm old enough to remember when it had a film processing room and you could get your rolls processed right there during the game. Some of my best Auburn memories came from that place. Jacobs. What an asshole. Auburn used to know that if you treat the press right, they'll repay the favor. But since that dickscuzz Jacobs took over, the press was treated with disdain. They used to have a damn fine buffet up there on game days. Jacobs took care of that. Shitty casseroles and hot dogs. Ask me why I hate the man and that's where it started. Dipshit.
2. Also, thanks to Jacobs for that godawful television monstrosity. We don't need a light display that's visible from space, Danny Devito. I hated it when it was proposed. I hated it when I saw it. I hate it now.
3. I'd rather hear the band than a pale imitation of the New Orleans Saints or some other jackass NFL game that pounds shitty music and inane flashes of light at a staccato rate worthy of inducing seizures. I don't know who or how we can get together to stop it. Hell, I wish Never to Yield Foundation would come back to life long enough to rally Auburn fans against the constant blaring of music. I love the band. I want to HEAR the motherhumping band. That damn Jay Jacobs. I wish somebody would shove a rap star up his ass.

Have to agree with the two old dudes ^^
The rap music every damn 2 mins is awful. It’s not even good. It’s like random stupid shit. And the lighting effects are blinding on the JJ 4000 XL Megatron. Other than the tunnel entry I can’t even remember hearing the band play. Barely heard the Hornets band play and I was right next to em.
New press box looks odd. I hope they plan to fill in the other side too.

I honestly didn't know Rod and Stan had moved to the corner. Nobody puts baby in a corner. What's the reasoning behind that?

They could not afford the $100K seats?
Space is money bitch!

One thing that the Mega JJ tron 4,000 did right was play the pregame Takeo vid. Tic Tock mutha fucka. That man is a certified bad ass. Has the papers and guns to prove it.

I believe I'd do exactly what he said. His stink-eye alone could break your clavicle.

No, but his neck will

They re-furbished the bathrooms on my end of the stadium. Tile walls, new paint, etc. If we can't have the old troughs back, At least they are clean and fresh now

I miss the old troughs. It was a dick-fest.
Wait.....I mean.....glad they renovated.

I remember thinking "why does ASU have blue all over their helmets", then I realized it was the reflection from the JJTron 4000...they were on the opposite end of the field. I'm surprised that everyone sitting in front of that screen doesn't get sick from that much radiation.

I used to like sitting at that end. No way in hell I would now. Shit has to be hot right underneath it.

The takeo intro vid was badass.

Exactly. Go to work the following Monday with a nice JJTron 4000 burn on your neck and head...good 'ol electromagnetic radiation.

Never quite understood why we don’t pipe our band into/through the sound system.

I'm sure all of those young hip students who buy all the tickets really enjoy that hippity hop shit!

How much are student tickets these days? Back in my day, they were $10 each! And they barely checked ID.

I’m surprised to hear student tickets were 10 bucks in the 50’s.

Nah...you could have the catbird's seat inside of Cliff Hare for a couple of chickens.

I got in there several times when I was 16. Man, that Fob James could run the ball.

So I just talked to a friend that I always get a parking spot from on site. Evidently the school is now charging $275 per spot for the year with security keeping you out. So now I’m scrambling. Anyone got an extra spot?

That's roughly $35 /game.
Is it possible to park off-site and taxi/Uber- in just for those you attend?
Just a thought.
