US Open. Serena's losing. She's getting coached from the stands, which is illegal (why, I don't know). Umpire warns her. She shows her ass. Gets warned. Keeps showing that ass. Gets penalized. She continues to show her ass and run her mouth. Gets penalized again.
Now she's in tears. And she eventually loses. Instead of the story being the girl who whipped her ass on the court, Nope. It's about Serena. Tearfully telling the crowd "we'll get through this..." About the only thing Serena did right was tell the crowd to stop booing, but she still acted like something got stolen from her. Nope, that sad little girl whooped that ass. Period. The girl who won tearfully apologized for winning. So instead of getting to celebrate a historic win, she has to hide in the shadows so it can all be about Serena who's now positioning herself as some champion of feminine freedoms.
She's a warrior. She claims she's out here fighting for women's rights, women's equality. She's fighting for women, so women can take their shirt off. What?
She got her ass whipped today on the court. Not by the umpire, not by the rules. By her opponent.

Racist!

Ageist.
You know that little girl is 16 years younger than our champion Serena.

I didn’t understand the women’s rights stuff at the presser after. This guy has had issues with everyone.
But during the match the ref was being quite a dick and it was unneeded. Serena is a hot head so it is what it is.
That ref has had issues like that with both men and women players though. She was so far away from her coach that nothing was even seen. But he wanted to be knitpicky. She was winning the 2nd set when it all happened. It’s a shame it impacted the match because they were all terrible calls and the whole thing just spiraled out of control. It wasn’t needed.
But as you said the story now is gonna be sexism and women’s rights. Instead of it being just an idiot ref making terrible calls as he’s done a LOT in the past.

Upset of a lifetime, easily on of the biggest upsets in sports history and the announcers have the gall to say "not the ending we were hoping for". Really? It thought announcers were supposed to hide their bias and why not congratulate the young lady? Disgusting on their part.

The coaching deal was a warning. Not a penalty. No deduction. It was a sideline warning in football. It's the rule. A bad rule, but still the rule. Some refs, umpires etc. are just bigger dicks than others, in all sports. He warned her. She escalated it into a childish temper tantrum and then moved it into an equal rights issue.
Made all the focus be about her and completely took the spotlight away from the winner. It was a warning. Sad!

The thing is, none of that would have happened if she'd just shut her trap. She egged it on. She kept it going. Demanding that he apologize to her for enforcing the rules.
Maybe the chair was a dick. She can't control that. She can and should have controlled her reactions. Did it cost her the tournament? Nope. That little Japanese gal was going to whip her ass either way. She had control of the court and made Serena look like a blundering buffalo on the court.

All true. She dishonored the girl that grew up idolizing her. Finally asked the crowd to stop booing-way too late.
Just a selfish tirade, made everything about her and then switched it to a crusade for all women.

That’s the part where she’s a hot head. She wanted to make an example of him. Not the right move.
I usually like Serena. She’s a badass. But she probably wins that set at least if she lets the warning go. The guy was a total tool though.

I am all for women's rights to take their shirts off. Go Selena!!!

Martina Navratilova's reaction to Serena. BTW, my old ass recognized Navratilova as one of the top 2-3 women's players ever.
"Had I behaved like that on a tennis court, I would have expected to get everything that happened to Serena," Navratilova told Times reporter Juliet Macur in a separate story (https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/09/sports/tennis/serena-williams-us-open-equality.html). "It should've ended ... with the point warning, but Serena just couldn’t let it go."

Well, she's white. She couldn't possibly understand!

Rare to see somebody not kiss ass and tell it like it is.

Kudos to that racist Maureen Callahan for having the guts to speak the truth.
Here was a young girl who pulled off one of the greatest upsets ever, who fought for every point she earned, ashamed.
At the awards ceremony, Osaka covered her face with her black visor and cried. The crowd booed her. Katrina Adams, chairman and president of the USTA, opened the awards ceremony by denigrating the winner and lionizing Williams — whose ego, if anything, needs piercing.

Girl that won seems nice. I do hate that the headline is all about the loser instead of the girl who won. She did earn it and did it with class.
-
The book faces are eat up with black folks who never set foot on a tennis court, trying to justify her actions. They got footage all the way back to McEnroe of the "white privilege"!

Serena is NOT a loser, you sexist racism!! She is a strong and beautiful womern out there fighting for the rights of the oppresseded! That match was stolt from her. If she hadn't been penalized for that illegal coaching, she was going to come all the way back and figure out how to get her giant tutu back for those shots that kept passing her by every time she lumbered toward the nets. You just don't know. She had already done won that ternumant. You better give her that trophys. Hell.
