Have been cleared for full practice. Might see them after LSU game. Possibly before but doubtful.

Saw that too! Of course GM with his coach speak but these boys already know the offense. Get game ready coach!
-
Pretty much the long and short of it...:sneer:
I understood the coachspeak as mid season but getting a legit deep threat and and a jet sweep/ short option guy is just what we need. Stidham comfy with these two.
Also, timing might be just right to shelve a couple of true freshmen for redshirts.

I just read where John Broussard, reserve defensive back has left the program this week. Evidently, he was a 4 star that played in 8 games as a freshman (2016). I know, "who?". But in my opinion, our secondary looked pretty bad against Washington. #13, I think (guy with cast) was getting owned every time they threw it his way. Washington saw that and kept going at him. So, was this Broussard kid just that bad, or just a prick with a bad attitude? Because he couldn't have been any worse than cast man.

3rd year in program and barely breaking the 2 deep. Getting beat out by true freshmen. So yeah.
And no. He’s a Good kid. Smart. But never adjusted to the speed of the game.

IMO, I think Broussard was just overmatched at this level. He's not very big and in a scrimmage I went to (I know one practice means squat) he got Neiko Thorpe torched two plays in a row, then ran off the field and sulked on the bench. I can see him thriving at a place like Troy or some place similar. That's my expert analysis....from the same guy that thought Jeremy Johnson would set records at AU.

Correct ^^ the speed of game adjustments frustrated him. He never really caught up.
He’s a super smart kid. Very good kid. Both parents were military. He will do fine post auburn.

He's not very big
I heard this was also a factor, he was like a 150 lbs soaking wet. Couldn't put weight on.

#12. Jamel Dean. The guy who is considered one of our top young DB's? Had an INT?
I imagine it is a bit difficult to play with a cast. But he about par with the rest of the DBs.

Contrary to Broussard, I don’t have any problem with this.
Neither does Token’s fat ass.
-
I thought Broussard was listed at 179.
Doubt his weight caused him to quit because he was gonna play a lot as was McBryde.
Holy shit, I'm too light...I quit!:poke:

He was listed at 179 but from what I read that was BS. He was having a hard time putting on the weight.

So. Back to Stove and Whitey.
Is it really a good idea to bring them back early? Who really recovers that quickly. And will they be back to full speed? I definitely do not want to see them hurt again.
But then thinking about it, if JS has a really good season, he's gone. Then who will throw to these guys next season. So they figure they better get back now, or its over.
Hopefully they both can contribute in big ways.

I know it was 3+ weeks ago but at practice, Stove had a big knee brace on and while he was running okay, you could tell he wasn't near 100%. Didn't see Hastings at all. Stove is a junior and Hastings a senior. Maybe that plays into their decisions to try and play or not. Is Hastings close to graduating? He might say, screw it, I'll play all I can this year and move on.

When is the lat time a freshman QB was successful at AU?

We have a 6'2" safety coming in next year.

Nossir. Don't tread on my defense. It took 5 years and 90 over-hyped wide receivers and midgets for dipshit to figure out we need to stop the opposition. Plus, I would like to keep Steele awhile.
*CCTAU wants an option QB... always has. And while I can appreciate the beauty of a well run ground game with a guy like Marshall I spent my entire life wanting Auburn to have a legitimate well-rounded offense and we have it (or at least had it till we went after fairground teddy bears and transfer offensive linemen).
As of right now we have Willis, a very reliable backup, Sandberg, an old lefty who might hang another season and **Bo Nix, unproven gunslinger with loads of upside.
We can get a transfer QB in short order if shit goes bad. We've proven that!
We get Russell Wilson upon Cam's exit if our offensive front wasn't totally depleted of talent. Wisconsin WAS a better fit only because he would survive there behind a veteran line.
*What self respecting former receiver wants an option quarterback? Really!
You should want the skies filled with footballs fella. Or maybe you just love a well executed stalk block. :big:
**Dad was a hero of sorts for AU.
Good QB.
But even Dad would admit the son will be better, plus the kid has the advantage of his father's experience as a coordinator.
We make a serious run at the playoffs if somehow Grimes gets this bunch blocking.
And Stidham has the right stuff. No way he should have been running for his life like Browning...BUT HE WAS!
Hats off to the Browning kid. He kept coming at us and we kept beating him down.

Hey. Hey hey. !
I don't want no option QB!
I like both worlds. Not like WT both worlds. I like a guy who can run a little. Read the option a little, and find an open receiver.
Stidham's fits that bill, but a hair slow. I can live with that. He made some good reads last week. He might not have had the speed to kill it. But the reads, and they were obvious reads, were damn good ones.
Now if we can get him to look up while scrambling, we gonna light it up!

Can't believe I am agreeing with the communist (:poke:) but, yes, I agree. He is a bit slow but didn't hesitate when he had to run. I did see 2 throws when he was scrambling he made 15+ yrds. Me thinks the QB scramble may have to do with the lack of confidence in the OL right now.

I've got it on good authority we're going to try the forward pass this year! They'll never know what hit him.

I stand corrected. A misread on my part. My apologies.
I faintly recall getting molested by linebackers and ends in the heyday of the veer. Our line was like a girlscout welcoming comittee and our track, wrestling and basketball coaches had everyone keenly prepared for the beatdown to come.

I liked a good veer back in the day. Rode it all the way to the top.
But it would have been nice to sling it around more. My old coach wasn’t very creative with his one and a half man routes!

I know one of those was while rolling right. I don't think he looks back at all while going left.
On the play he tried to ruin his shoulder, NCM was standing all alone about 8 yds right and 8 yds deep. Easy quick flip. He never looked up.

I am holding out hope this kind of mishaps get fixed once the OL really gels.

Stove & Hastings played this past Saturday. Well, so did the waterboy, the towel guy, a couple of band members, and some other people I've never heard of before.
