Title: Auto insurance and teens!
Post by: CCTAU on July 24, 2018, 12:35:42 PM
OK. so my 19 yr old daughter is being dropped from my insurance. Three wrecks in 3 years. Although the last one was just reported but no payout since it was only smudges. But still, since it was reported, it counts.

Now we have quotes of $4600 every 6 months for 25/50 minimum liability!

Tell me there is something better out there!

No wrecks so far for my 17 year old.  But the shock of adding him on our insurance took a little getting used to.  I had 3 vehicles insured.  Two with full coverage and one with liability only.  I was paying a little over $1K every 6 months.  Added my son and it went up $1,500.00.  One car vs. 3 and it far more than doubled the premium.  Sheyot.

Fifteen minutes can save you 15% or more on car insurance.

I wouldn't let Geico insure the last dump I took.  I'll give em' credit for their marketing the last decade.  They took over when Bud Light declined.  Most of their ads are funny as hell, with the exception of that stupid lizard.  But as far as the actual company goes....

Curious as to why you feel this way.  I’ve had Geico since 1995 and they’ve been fantastic for me.  Great effort when I needed them.  I check every few years and nobody beats the price.

Because when they get the accident report from insureds, on wrecks that happened on the circle, they giggle if it has snag’s card attached.

If it is the Alabama Hammer, on the other hand, shit gets real.

You're in the minority of not being their target demographic. Geico and progressive both tend to cater to more high risk low brow customers. Not that everyone is that's  with them but that's the bulk of their business.

I think I’m insulted.

I’m gonna call The General.

Alls I know is they’ve done a good job. They cost less.  They don’t raise my rates or threaten to drop me aftr every ticket or accident like I’ve seen ALFA and State Farm do.

May look into it myself. I like State Farm's quality but getting sick of the crazy hikes for NOTHING. Gonna shop a few local places too.

It tripled for me adding the 16 year old.  Dropped the oldest pos we have to liability only and put him on it.  Still tripled.

It's just boys too.  My daughter, while she hasn't had any wrecks or tickets, is a horrible driver.  Scares the bejeezsus out of me any time I get in the car with her.  But when we added her on, there was no real spike in the premium.

The best we found was from Foremost. This is ridiculous. $3000 for six months. And that is 25/50/25 with no uninsured motorist. STATE MINIMUM.

Told the daughter that if you wanted to keep driving, she would have to pay $2000 of it. She now knows to drive like a little old lady.

I understand the risk involved for these companies, but it still sucks.
