He will be at Lackland for basic and Goodfellow for training.
He is going into intel ops for the Air Force.

Since I saw this, I have struggled to respond.
Full admiration. Total respect. While I believe in everything the military stands for and provides for this country I'm not sure how I'd feel if one of my daughters was heading off to serve.
I can't imagine the emotions of the parents in the 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s who watched their kids get shipped off to Europe and Asia with the fate of the world in their hands.
You and your kid deserve nothing but honor.

Yeah yeah. His mom was in the other room and missed his call letting us know he made it to San Antonio. Killed her. (of course I've been screaming for years for her to keep her cell with her)
We won't get another call until after a week when he gets to send address information.
I think its harder today than it was when my oldest went in the Army in 2004. With cell phones today, we keep up a lot more when our kids are off somewhere, school, work, etc..
I'm sure some TI is up his ass already. Doubt he got much sleep last night!

I had a phone. My wife had a phone. But my 17 yr old(at the time) did not have a phone in the sense that today's youth has phones. We had the old bricks that you had to pay extra for text messages with. No social media and the lot. So it wasn't the same as it is for my younger kids.
Just think about how much easier it is to communicate and keep up with your kids today. Now take that away!

A soldier was getting his airborne qualification and on the night after his first jump, he called his dad to tell him how it went.
Dad: So, how did it go?
Soldier: Dad, I got up to the door and I froze. I absolutely froze.
Dad: What happened next?
Soldier: You know that huge, nasty instructor I've been telling you about? Well, he told me if I didn't jump he was going to shove his 10" dick up my ass.
Dad: Well, did you jump?
Soldier: Yeah, a little at first.

The Air Force?! Holy hell, just shoot him an email and ask him how he's doing. Maybe between his lobster and steak lunch and playing video games, he can shoot you one back.
But seriously, be proud that you have a kid smart enough to join and get trained in something that he can use in the real world.

Yeah. I told him not to mess up or they would take his spa day away!
My oldest told him if he tried to join Army or Marines that he would break both of his legs so they wouldn't take him. Five years in the 101 jaded him!
Hopefully he is making friends with the Sgt so he can join cigar night...

He called home to get the info for his top secret clearance..again.
