Brandon LaFell (1) has bitter memory of 2006/Getty Images
BATON ROUGE, La. -- LSU coach Les Miles was diplomatic when a reporter asked him if he goes to Auburn expecting to be treated unfarily by the officials.

There were four calls that went against LSU in the Tigers' 7-3 loss at Auburn in 2006, calls that still privately have Miles steamed.

"Frankly," Miles said with a chuckle at his Monday news conference, "we're just looking forward to playing. We're not expecting (anything), we just want to play hard. We expect we will be dealt with very fairly."

LSU junior wide receiver Brandon LaFell didn't mince words, however.

"If the game is close in the fourth quarter we can pack up and go home because we always seem to get the short end of the stick," LaFell said candidly.

LaFell can point to a call that didn't go his way in the 2006 game that could have helped LSU win.

Just before halftime in a scoreless tie, LSU was driving for a score. LSU faced second-and-10 at the Auburn 27 when JaMarcus Russell lofted a pass into the end zone for LaFell.

Auburn cornerback David Irons appeared to hold or interfere with LaFell, but no call was made. Instead of having a first down in the red zone, LSU eventually had to settle for a field goal. The purple and gold Tigers wouldn't score again.

"I was upset," LaFell said. Irons, he recalled, was hardly apologetic.

"He said, 'The play's over, the ref didn't call it, so quit crying,'" LaFell said

LaFell thought LSU tried too hard that day to establish the run. He recalls that Auburn was confused trying to cover LSU's receivers in four wide receiver sets in the second half.

"That caused them some problems," LaFell said.

LSU goes to Auburn this time with three unproven quarterbacks – Andrew Hatch, Jarrett Lee and Jordan Jefferson - in terms of playing a big college game on the road. But LaFell is optimistic.

"I think we're ready," he said. "We've had two games, really three with the scrimmage we had (Sept. 4).

"We'll find out real soon."
You'd think that in the entire history of their program, they have never been on the bad end of a single questionable call except against us. Not to dredge up that debate, but it was the right call anyway. And heaven forbid someone miss an assignment and chopblock somebody...

Word! Fucking crybabies. Maybe we should pelt them with tampons when they take the field.

Do these stupid, fucking corndogs think 2007 at Baton Rude was anything other than an ass raping of Auburn by the refs?

I have NEVER heard more whiney bullshit from fans than LSU....and now, their own players.  Do you not realize the refs fucking gave you the game last year?  I hate the fuck out of bringing Bama up to make my point...but you DO realize, you were the beneficiary of one of the worst PI no calls ever that gave you a win over one of the worst Tahd teams in history.  Do I need to Youtube this shit and embarrase you?

Corn Dog fucker.  Please Saturday, get here!!!

Please bring up something other than the 3rd down play that the refs gave us.  Also realize that your CB interfered with Byrd on the last play of the game.

I note that you don't dispute that David Irons interfered with Lafell, that the 4th down pass to Hester was really complete, and that Doucet was interfered with short of the end zone.  Regardless, Jimbo Fisher called the game scared.  Crowton won't make the same mistake.

I'm not sure what you are talking about re: the no call PI against alabama last year.

I might be inclined to believe it if Chaz hadn't been abused repeatedly earlier in the game

Oh, and nobody expects a fair shake at Auburn dating back to 2004. :)

Make sure you take the blinders off for the game, you'll enjoy it more.

IF the game is as close as it's been the past few years, ANY call going ANY way will be debatable.  Just get used to it.  It's a physical game, and the refs are going to be more inclined to "let the boys play".

War Eagle anyway, and if you come to the Plains, enjoy yourself, don't pee on anything.

Oh, right, you mean that time that the refs called a foul on your team for violating an explicit rule of the game.  The rule that your head coach, at the time, approved as a member of the rules committee.  That time.

You know, that's pretty inarguable... it just sucks that it's never been called before or since.

Well, it wasn't called before because that was the 3rd (or 4th) game of the first season the rule was on the books.

As for it never being called again, I'll need some support for that assertion.

I'm pretty sure I saw it called again in that season, but granted, it's very rarely seen.  A rule is a rule though....

To be fair to our LSU guest, I'll ask you to support your assertion as well.

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter if it's never been called on anyone again.  The rule is in the book, Prude landed on Compton, and the official threw the flag.

Sounds to me like these fuckheads already know they're going to get beat and are coming up with excuses before the game.

Fuck you, LSU  :fu: .
