Title: Bye, Bye Bret

https://thecapitalsportsreport.com/2017/11/19/report-bret-bielema-fired-arkansas/

According to SB Nation, the Arkansas Razorbacks have parted ways with head coach Bret Bielema. His firing comes one week after the last FBS coach was fired in fellow Southeastern Conference head coach Butch Jones by the Tennessee Volunteers.

Bielema will coach the final game of the season this Friday against the Missouri Tigers. The Razorbacks are presently 4-7 on the season after being defeated by the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Saturday.

Bielema, along with former athletic director Jeff Long have been embattled in recent weeks at the school. Long was fired by the school earlier this week.

The Razorbacks, according to reports, would like to hire Auburn Tigers head coach Gus Malzahn as its next head coach. SB Nation is reporting that if Malzahn would be hired, it could hand-pick its next athletic director.

Bielema has been the Razorbacks head coach for the past five seasons – and they are not bowl eligible. He came to the school after being the Wisconsin Badgers head coach.

With the Razorbacks, he went 29-33, including just 11-28 in the Southeastern Conference. Arkansas has only defeated the Ole Miss Rebels this season in the SEC.

There have been some things to happen this season for the Razorbacks, but that’s no excuses for their record, or his firing. Rawleigh Williams, a former running back, announced his retirement from college football in the spring.

During the season, Austin Allen suffered a season-ending shoulder injury. Cole Kelley, his back-up, got arrested on DUI charges on November 12th.

So, the SEC now has 3 vacancies.  Any chance A&M makes it a 4th?

Yes...there is a chance.

Oregon State could sweep up Bielema...they like mediocrity, chainsaws and former Wisconsin coaches.

btw...that article was a terrible read.

So, according to this article, if Arkansas hires Gus then SB Nation gets to pick their AD.

Weird.

Why would SB Nation want to hire the new AD?

They want Arkansas to have their guy. It's only natural.

Does Mullen get picked up by someone? Will Auburn's staff remain intact?

I can't imagine anybody picking up that ugly hunchback, but in theory I guess maybe after 3 am in a dive bar he'd have a shot with a female rodeo clown.

The staff is in Auburn.  I don't even know there Tact is.

I think Mullen may get picked up by a lonely pulp Wooder from Meredian.

If Auburn coaching staff is still in Tact, they’d better get the hell back in Auburn and be getting ready for the game.

No love lost for Big Mouth Bert who talked a better game than he coached, who came into the league picking a fight with Gus, who sided with Saban to try to get the NCAA to change the rules to limit offenses and who got certified cred for having a wife way hotter than he rated. She at least will be missed.

Coming up to him on the field after his team had just lost a game on a last minute kick and canning his enormous ass, though? That's pretty cold.

His exit press conference was more gracious and good natured than anything that had come before it.  If he'd shown half the humility during his tenure as he did in his last moment he might have stuck around longer.

His conference record was 11-29. Best he finished was 3rd in the West. That’s why he got canned. The fact that he had a loud mouth th fit in well with a state that wishes it was Texas but has to realize it’s not even as “cool” as  Oklahoma.

Tennessee courting Greg Schiano? Isn’t he basically Butch Jones? Jesus Christ that is a terrible hire.
Florida finalizing deal on Dan Mullen.

You guys are correct. Shitty year to be in the head coach getting business.

I think he's had more success than jones overall. Record may not indicate it as much but he has. Generally a nicer guy and has worked under some good coaches. Not a bad hire but not a homerun. Too bad the tenn fans went all antifa on campus and had the AD renig on the whole deal. Huge mess up there now.

I know he has the penn state history but still. Tenn seems a bit holier than thou for a team that just went 0-8 and got creamed by vandy.
