Darling you've got to let me know...
The popular theory is that if Gus loses the IB, he's heading to Arkansas. Win, and he's ours to keep.
This is weird. If he wants the Ark job, does he swallow his professional pride and throw the game?
Is the outcome irrelevant? At either place, he's sitting on enough cash and making more every day to do whatever he wants.

2013= Gus to the Cowboys
2010= Cam's a cheater
2002-2007= Tubs to Arkansas
You smell something Rabbit?

I don't get it, Big Dan.

Yeah, I'd have to sink a few more drinks to follow that logic.
As we discussed in the other thread, I rarely buy into the latest rumor. In my view, if something like that gets out, it's more likely a planted story in order to obtain leverage, via the fear factor, to get your client more money. People talking multi-million dollar deals behind closed doors are not leaking info to Brandon Marcello.
Having said that, even if we beat Bama and go on to bigger/better things, and Malzahn decides to bolt, I'd be cool with it. As long as Jacobs is not involved in a new coaching search, I think we come out okay.
To Bill Clark.

Jimmy Sexton. Professional Get-Your-Coach-Overpaid Person.

Yeah...I think this is probably closer to the truth.
Last time we had a prodigal-Arkansan we saw this play out every off-season whilst TT was duck hunting.
Add that to the flurry of articles about Gus's contract sunsetting in 2020 and it looks like someone is trying to dial up pressure on Auburn to give him the raise/extension power combo.
-
There may be truth to it. They may want him.
But everything in this thread is truth too.
Typical Sexton tactic to get his client paid.
Typical state media to create distraction for Auburn when they think Bama is threatened.

There's a portion that absolutely do, some very influential.

I'm very influential. And I want Gal Gadot.
Doesn't mean I'm gonna get her. But I might.

I think overall Malzahn is a decent CEO for Auburn. Does what is required.
He also is a VERY strong recruiter.
Now this:
Talent does not progress.
Meaningful reps just aren't there for would be talent. How can it progress?
Wants an OC he can manipulate.
Does not recognize his own weaknesses, finds excuses, lays blame but it's cloaked in coachspeak.
Gus could very likely snatch defeat from the jaws of victory against Alabama although not intentionally.
Don't think his ego has space for that.
The Alabama series by and large is coached "not to lose," on our part. Pains me to admit that.
Gus falls into that category of Auburn HC's and it's an inherent defect that will not go away.
Agree with some others- okay if Gus leaves as long as Jacobs has no say so with the next guy.
-
Jacobs is the true wildcard here.
Arkansas did the right thing and whacked Long. Then they appointed an interim.
So if she fails to seduce Malzahn back to Arkansas or if she hires Butch Jones, it's on her and she's gone anyway.
Meanwhile we still have Jacobs and some nebulous "I'm gonna leave like, you know, whenever it sort of works out for me to do it..."
Would he make his last official major act as Auburn AD providing an extension and upping the buyout for Gus? Does he want that to be his legacy? If this is a push by Sexton to generate more $$$, who is doing the negotiating?
-
Rumor down here says Jimbo Fisher to aTm for 40 mil buyout.
Fisher's agent....Jimmy Sexton....hmmm
We shall see.

Also...in English please, you know I don't speak Spanish.
