It's been a tough 72 hours for me. A Navy buddy passed away suddenly Sunday afternoon from a massive heart attack and at 3:30 this afternoon I got a call that my dad collapsed at home and was unresponsive. The EMTs performed CPR and brought him back. He flat lined again on the ambulance ride to the hospital and they got him back again. He's stable - but critical - and on his way to Grandview.
Keep him in your thoughts and if you're so inclined, lift a prayer for him to the Good Man upstairs.
-
Hang in there man.
-
Sorry to hear that. Will definitely say a prayer.
-
Will be pulling for your Dad's recovery PCT.

Damn, G, I'm sorry to hear all of that.
Of course, let us know if you need anything.

I'm usually kind of an ass and really suck at this, the birthday stuff, etc.
But for whatever it's worth, I'm sorry for your pain. Wish I knew what to do to help.
-
Hang tight pct! I think it’s tougher worrying about someone that’s hanging on the edge like this than it is being the patient sometimes. That doesn’t help lessen the worry but will def be in my prayers.
-
Prayers sent, PCT. If you need anything at all, let us know.
-
If you don't mind my asking, what is the issue? Heart? Something else?
-
Hang in there. Its tough watching a parent get older.
-
Thank you all. Dad passed peacefully at 1:55 this afternoon. It's going to be tough, but I do appreciate the kind words and thoughts. He was a great man.

Sorry chief.
I was flying in this morning, listening to music, and Stapleton's "Daddy doesn't pray anymore" song came on. I found myself tearing up on the plane thinking of not having my dad around. Felt like an idiot sitting on the plane with tears running down my cheeks.
Praying for you guys.

Very sorry for your loss PCT.
As War Eagle!!! mentioned above I just ran an errand thinking of my own Dad and how much I miss him.
it's been almost 20 years.

I think I misspoke now I re-read my post. My dad is still alive...I got teary eyed thinking of him not being around. I don't like to think about that day. As I get older, the realization that he won't be around forever is here. It was just weird that happened this morning and then read this post.
Sorry for the confusion!

Take my advice. Spend as much time as you can with him and tell him how much you love him.

Thank you all. I appreciate your kind words. We laid him to rest this evening. It was a beautiful and uplifting service. I heard so many great stories about my dad and my heart swells with pride that he was my dad.
I gave the eulogy and I was able to make it through with only 2 near choke ups. Standing there at the pulpit and telling everyone about my dad was the most gratifying and difficult thing I've ever done.
Keep us in your thoughts and prayers. We're going to need them as we move forward into life without him here.

I'm praying for you PCT. I'm sorry to hear of your father and Navy buddy's passing and extend my condolences to you and them. Time heals all things.
