Title: Storm brewing?
Post by: Kaos on September 19, 2017, 03:50:21 PM
I never listen to Finebaum any more.  Don't need the aggravation.  Besides I have a few friends from the Tuscaloosa days who are devoted to his program and gleefully make sure I know whenever he starts bashing on Auburn.

Today is apparently that day.

According to them he is, in his usual trolling manner, saying things without saying anything.  Hinting that there is some bad shit coming but giving no specifics.  I figure he reads message boards and just says whatever he sees there attributing it to sources.

But he's allegedly fishing off our pier today.

He's probably been to a hushpuppy dinner lately.

Out of curiosity I turned it on.

Brandon Marcello was on there.  Gloom, doom, death, destruction.  The guy was incredibly negative.   I got the impression he thinks we are done.  Done done.

Done in what way?

This season.

Said we couldn't compete with the powers of the west and didn't see it getting better any time soon.  Also said Mississippi State was pretty much Malzahn's tipping point. We are supoosed to be better than them. And we punched their dicks off last year.  A loss at home to them might be unredeemable.

Since when do we give a fuck what the Paul Finebaum Show thinks about Auburn?

We don't.  Ever.  But Marcelo isn't really "the finebaum show"

I went to every home game in Chizik's last year.  Pretty sure I can manage this one

And our writers are sometimes privy to things we aren't. They can't always say what but you can see it in their mood and mannerisms. Marcello has been unusually "weird" since clemson.

I walked out at half time of the Texas A&M game because of one thing.  The players quit.  I can suffer through a lot of stuff where AU football is concerned, but when the players just say fuck it and don't even try, that's when I'm done.  They flat out quit on everybody in 2012.

So, my question is what secretive, behind the scenes thing could there possibly be that would destroy the season.  I think the problem is pretty much out in the open and it wears a goofy sweater vest and a visor.

Glass half full take is just what I said about Saturday's game.  Eliminate maybe 3 of the 5 turnovers and we hang 52 on them and rack up 700 yards and we have hope.  But, we turned it over 5 times and the 2-1, 16th ranked program is about to implode.

MSU bitch slaps LSU at home.  Shocking?  I'd have to say yes.  When has that ever happened?  As I said, I really like their QB, but is this the same LSU team?  Everyone said Etling wasn't worth a shit.  And I actually laughed when they named Yaw Yaw as their HC. Let MSU go do that shit to Georgia in Athens and maybe I'll worry.

Writers haven't been privy to the Auburn program for a couple of years now. Coach Malzahn has turned paranoid of everyone.

Heard Marcello on the Opening Drive. They zeroed in on the Sean White dismissal and Marcello said White needed to start loving himself, almost as a tease like he knew more but wouldn't say. THIS angered me.

They switched gears zoning in on the number of passes thrown against Mercer, attempting to get him to agree that it was merely a tune-up and an opportunity for the offensive line to work on protection.   Meh

The only other negative concerned the lack of carries by other backs to which he really had no answer...as in Idunno, yuk, yuk, yuk.
Honestly I think anyone paying attention would question the number of totes by Pettway.

Marcello mostly seemed pre-occupied or unprepared.
I did not catch Finebaum later.

True. And I think it's at a new level. But I meant more the systemic rumblings in campus.

Our saving grace (and Malzahn's) is Kevin Steele.
We have all of this raw talent on offense being underutilized.
Sweater vest generally goes into Raymond Babbitt mode when any opponent has him figured out, usually by our second possession.
I really don't think there is any behind the scenes mystery in the making.
We just seem to fail in execution almost as if the opposition knows the next play.

But AUTgR is correct in that the group as a whole is underperforming and that has to fall on Herb Hand.

This was supposed to be a dominating group in its returning core of three and redshirts already knowledgeable of the offense.
What happened to one of our basic plays off tackle where our guards pull clearing the way for our back?

We are supposed to be a power running/play action offense, not a mamby- pamby accept what they allow us offense.

Not acceptable.

He's very wrong in it being the #1 with auburn football.

So, you're saying Herb Hand is the culprit.

I fully trust Gus when he says they can only call the plays that Mercer dictates.

And to think Mercer was allowed to do so.

Yes damnit but that one flaw doesn't negate the entire argument which is how soft our line has been through 3 games and how nasty the MSU results will be if we don't get nasty.
