In Nashville for a couple of days. Staying in an AirBnB near the Vanderbilt campus.
Went to the grocery store last night and have never, ever, ever, ever seen as many screamingly gay and off-base people in one location in my life.
The thing that rang me up at the checkout counter was apparently in some stage of male to female transition. Pink and purple hair, what looked to be meth sores pocking the arms and cheeks, the right arm striped like a tiger from obvious cutting issues and a scabbed over slashes on the left wrist. I don't want any of the food I bought.
The rest of the store was packed with weirdos, swishily gay male couples, a few muslims in hiboobs or whatever those things are they wear, and two or three "trucker style" butches with halfway decent-looking girls trailing around with them.
I didn't know Vandy was a circus like that. I just always assumed it was clean cut rich kids planning on careers in politics or medicine.
