Title: Kathy Griffin?
Post by: Kaos on May 31, 2017, 12:16:36 PM
No comment on that?

Game of Thrones used a George Bush head on one of its spikes in season one.  But ha ha ha. That was funny. He's a republican, remember?

Griffin, who claims to be a comic but hasn't done anything approaching funny in decades, poses with a bloody severed Trump head in a pose reminiscent of ISIS.  Oh. She's sorry.

Oh yeah?  What would the outrage level be had Tim Allen or Norm McDonald posed with a bloody Obama head? Or a Hillary noggin?  They'd never work again.

Griffin? She's sorry. Her employer CNN says "that was bad" and life goes on.  The double standard is outrageous.

Oh I fully acknowledge that the double standard is in complete play and has been for some time however the right can't have some whiney assed meltdown like the left.
Was it in poor taste?  Absolutely!
Do I really give a shit either way?  Not really.  She is a talentless hack that isn't even fun to look at.  She looks like a ginger Andy Dick.

CNN just axed her from the New Year's Eve gig.  But even worse, one of her endorsement deals with "Squatty Potty" just went in the dumper.

Concur.  I refuse to even click a link or watch TV to see what exactly is that she did because fuck her.  And fuck the media for biased reporting that has led to these dipshits thinking they can say and do whatever they like without backlash.

I never understood how she was a celebrity anyway.  No looks, no talent.

I used to give her a little bit of a pass because my memory said she'd been on News Radio.  But that was another red-head playing a tramp, not her.  So Griffin's never really done anything worthwhile.  How is she a "celebrity?"

Quote
Renegade right-winger Ted Nugent recently went on a vicious onstage rant in which he threatened the lives of Democratic presidential candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. Decked out in full-on camouflage hunting gear, Nugent wielded two machine guns while raging, "Obama, he's a piece of shit. I told him to suck on my machine gun. Hey Hillary," he continued. "You might want to ride one of these into the sunset, you worthless bitch." Nugent summed up his eloquent speech by screaming "freedom!"

You were demanding Ted Nugent be barred from Fox, right?

That said, I agree with this:

That said, I agree with this:

1) That's from Rolling Stone, so fuck the fake news.
2) I never heard of Nugent doing that so how could I have an opinion
3) It's his concert.  If you don't like it, don't go. You can't fire him from his own concert.
4) If he said that -- and I didn't see or hear that he did other than this "Rolling Stone" report -- then yeah, I don't think he should have said that
5) The "Rolling Stone" thing is from 2007 so nice reach.  Something from a decade ago.
6) I've heard him call for Obama to be tried for treason.  I've heard him call for Hillary to be tried for treason.  And hung.  I don't really disagree with that.  Their actions in regard to Benghazi, just as one instance, were despicable.
7) Nugent is funnier than Kathy Griffin
8) Nugent is better looking than Kathy Griffin.  In fact, given the choice of fucking her or letting him fuck me with an elk antler, I'm not sure which way I'd swing.
9) Whatever Nugent said or didn't say, he didn't follow it up with a half-ass faux apology.  He says what he thinks and fuck it if you don't like it.  He's not doing anything just to be noticed. Whatever he does, he believes in.  Better than her.

You leave Ted Nugent out of this.  The man is a guitar God.  Shall I go so far as to give him, dare I say it, icon status?

I don't recall, that being so long ago, but I wouldn't be surprised one bit if he did say it.  If so, that's some over the top, cringe-worthy shit right there. Nugent is funny sometimes but he's as far to the right as Nancy Pelosi is left.  He comes off as a wacko, nut job at times.

I saw him in concert about 20 years ago.  Pensacola.  KISS (The Farewell Tour) with him and Sebastion-less Skid Row.   Took my dad.

Did at least part of the concert in a loincloth.  Ted, that is.  Not me or Dad.

Pics of you and dad in loin cloths or it didn't happen.  I saw him much longer ago than that in Montgomery.  Nazareth opened for him.  Only concert I've ever been to where my ears actually had an annoying ring or buzz in them for the next 2-3 days.  I know Ted damaged my hearing in one concert.

Only concert that ever did that to me was AC/DC.  On the floor of the BJCC. Security confiscated all the booze hidden in my boots.  Punched a guy in the face who was messing with my soon-to-be wife. Watched him disappear backward into the crowd during High Voltage. Never saw him again. Hit every puff pass that came by.  One of the best concerts ever. August 1988.

For Those About to Rock was the last song. They lowered cannons from the roof and hit them probably 20 times. We got married in October and I think the hearing had just started to come back. Probably wasn't that long but things were muffled sounding for weeks.

She was gone less than six months from that night.  Wow. That's hard to think about.

By the way, I'd like to point out for the umpteenth time that Chizad has again employed the tired "Bammer defense."

Whenever presented with evidence of disgusting behavior or nefarity (my word) from the left, his first response is to go...

"Oh yeah? Well look what YA'LL did!!"

T-Town Tom gives away the store to his Bama pals.  "Oh yeah?  Eric Ramsey, bitch."

I bet if you cut Chizad he'd bleed crimson.

Unless someone did that while working for another network, it's an apples and oranges comparison. Not saying uncle Ted is right. I kind of think he's a loon personally. The kind of moron that takes a loaded AK into subway for "self defense". But last I checked he doesn't work for anyone but himself. Griffin was an employee and representative of CNN so that enters into another realm.

For the record, if Sean hannity or Jesse waters had held up a bloody obama head like that, I could totally understand foxnews terminating them. I just haven't seen where any equivelant has happened. Billy O got canned for personal allegations.

Kathy Griffin is not analogous to Hannity/Waters. If Anderson Cooper or Don Lemon held up a decapitated Trump it it would be 100x more outrageous. Griffin is a comedian who cohosts the New Years Eve coverage once a year. Nugent is a regular guest on Fox. They regularly yuck it up with him and are cordial with him on air. It's not a perfect 1 to 1, but it's much closer than comparing her to Hannity, etc.

Bottom line, it was tasteless, but she's a tasteless comedian. I'm equally offended by both of these, which is to say not very much. But I understand why most normal people would be, and therefore axing her from NYE coverage, given the broad audience that is targeting, was absolutely the right move.

What you fail to grasp is I'm not endorsing it. I'm not defending it. I'm not saying it's ok because Nugent did the same thing. I'm just noting your rank hypocrisy for being LIVID over this and being perfectly fine with the Motorcity Madman being equally offensive with regularity. Proving you're not as outraged as you say you are, you're using it as a cudgel to serve your politics.

Not even close to being equally offensive. Nugent is not politically correct, but he didn't carry around a severed head of a sitting president. A severed head that is the signature of our greatest enemy.

At what point did you discern that I was "LIVID?"

Never was.  Merely curious as to the reaction while also acknowledging that had a conservative comic done a similar stunt with the Emperor or the Bitch, there would have been squealing outrage from the entirety of CNN,MSNBC and all the other fake news organizations.

At no point was I LIVID in any way.  Again -- a la a bammer -- you are projecting your own psychological issues onto others.

Just couldn't really think of a foxnews equal to her. Watters used to have bit parts on the network and was an employee. Now he's much bigger so he was all I could think of. Maybe Geraldo? Or Dennis Miller when he was on o Reilly ? I get what you're saying though. I've said for a long time that I think Ted is over the top and borderline crazy. He just isn't an employee of any network. Which is where much of the outrage was on this one for CNN to fire since she was an employee.

This is similar to the Colin Caepernick approach.  Just when you are about to ride off into obscurity do something to make a lot of noise to get back in the spot lot.  Sure she cost herself a job at CNN but let's be honest.  It was what?  One episode a year?

Bitch has had more publicity since the photo than she's has for her entire career.  She doesn't need the majority of the people's support.  She just needs enough people's support to sustain her career a few more years.

Not even sure what that means.  Look, Griffin got blasted by everyone with the exception of a handful of extreme left wingnuts like Rosie O'McDonalds.  Rightfully so.  She was not on stage.  She was not doing a comedy act for paying customers.  She's holding up a replica of a bloodied, severed head of the POTUS.  This is not comedy.  This is someone openly and very publically saying, "I want our President dead."  There is no way to spin this or say "Oops, bad judgment on my part" later.

I know this is mainly a joke, but I disagree and prompted this rant you're now going to have to endure from me.

Adam Carolla is one of the greats IMO.

Dennis Miller, Nick DiPaulo, Artie Lange are up there as well.

Joe Rogan, Jim Norton, Bill Burr are libertarians who are greats in their own right.

Trey Parker & Matt Stone are, as a duo, two of the greatest comedic minds to have ever lived, IMO.

There are X'ers who will fight you if you imply Vince Vaughn is not and has never been funny.

Adam Sandler has put out a lot of mainstream slop lately, but in the 90s it didn't get more simultaneously irreverent and popular than him in comedy.

Tim Allen...

Ok, I should probably stop while I'm sort of ahead.

The list gets bigger and bigger depending on how you define "conservative". Increasingly it means being edgy, politically incorrect, and adamantly pro-free speech. The list of comedians that have vocally spoken out against left-wing politically correct censorship includes just about every single comedian I consider funny.

Edgy and dark humor are slowly becoming taboo and being replaced by smugly pontificating leftist politics into a camera. Jon Stewart started it, and IMO did it well. It was somewhat original coming from him. Colbert was hilarious as his character. John Oliver is the closest thing after those two to actually somewhat carry the torch of some degree of humor. But even with him, it's much more smug preaching than actual humor. Trevor Noah? Samantha Bee? The comedy has been extremely diluted by the time we got down to them.

I will be the first to admit, I will whip a man's ass quick, or a woman's, for being gay. Or, a racist. As you know. But saying Vince Vaughan ain't funny?

I'll whip that ass double time.

You better bring it then.

Because Vince Vaughn is about as funny as a cancerous mole.  He wouldn't know funny if it humped his leg.

I cannot believe you'd say this. Surely, you jest?

Like, as if you'd think "you might be a redneck if..." jokes aren't funny.

Next thing, you'll be trying to convince us you didn't vote for Trump.

Bull. Shit.

First off, it wouldn't have happened. Secondly, everyone here would have acted the same about it as when it was Trump's head.

You really are an idiot...

He speaks for all of us.

BULL-FUCKING-SHIT I know that a few here would not have a problem if say Trump did the same thing (hint: those same inbreds would still vote for Trump if he walked out to the street and shot someone). They are the party over Country voters.

Obviously, I meant "conservative" in the MAGA/Republican Party sense...not actual conservatism.

I think we all agreed that the makeup-wearing choads of KISS are both breathing and iconic.
