Cool story bro moment:
At Troy, after warmups at beginning of practice, coaches would call players to "break it down". Most would run around the field with their hand up while everyone screamed and then would jump up and "break it down" when they landed on the ground. Well, one of the coaches found out I could do a standing back flip like the one above, so they called me to break it down. Well, I wanted to do something more than just a back flip, so I tried to run and do a back handspring and then back flip....with a helmet on...and I busted my ass. Everyone laughed. Hard.
So then I finally talked the coaches in to calling me out again and this time I just walked to the middle of the field. I just looked at everyone with my hand up while everyone was laughing at me telling me I was going to bust my ass again. Then I did a standing back flip to break it down and everyone thought I was cool again.

I didn't get much of his cussing for obvious reasons.
There was once where he cussed me pretty good though. I returned opening kick-off in a play off game and got absolutely lit up. It was bad. No doubt concussion and should have been taken out of game. But I stayed in and it was third and 10, and they called a pass play to me on a ten yard out. I ran a 9.8 yard out and caught the ball short of a first down. When I came off the field, Coach Lee was letting me have it. He stayed on my ass for the entire time when we were punting saying this was my fault. All the time I was looking at him with glassy eyes not really giving a shit because my head was still spinning. I remember at half time still feeling dizzy after that hit.
I am full of "cool story bro" stories today!

An old JD boy before your time, Mike Brock, was the starting tackle for the Crapstoners in the 79 Sugar Bowl against Penn State. PSU had a pair of DT's that were badass in Matt Millen and Bruce Clark. Brock said on the first play of the game, one of them threw a forearm shiver to his head and even though he played the rest of the game, he remembers very little about it.
Times, they have a changed.

When dad was playing for Auburn, they were playing against Arizona State (I think) in the Sun Bowl. He played on the KO coverage team and also as a DB. He said on the opening kickoff, he made a bet with the players he would make the tackle. So the guys he made a bet with, went down and started yelling at the ASU guys to not let #22 make the tackle. Anyway, he ran down the field and their was a huge collision. He said next thing he knows, he looked up when he was playing safety and yelled over at the corner, how the hell did we get 44 points? He said they called time out immediately and took him off, but he had played the whole game and had no clue where he was...
That's 3 "cool story bro" stories in one thread...I may be approaching snaggle territory...

I worked with a guy who was a DB for UVA back in the 70s. They opened on the road at Texas, the year Earl Campbell won the Heisman. Told me on the first play from scrimmage, Texas faked to one side, but he didn't bite, Campbell comes out of backfield, and my buddy was only UVA player within 15 yards. At 10 yards, my buddy thinks "I hope this mother fucker goes around me." At 5 yards, "Yep, this mother fucker is going to hit me."
Next thing he remembers is being in the huddle and complaining about being cold. It was September and about 110 degrees outside.

Yes, Teddy was a FB. Cleared the way for many a touchdown by me when we played YMCA ball. Got held back a grade and lost him in junior high. I became a corner and safety then. Those were the days. I still stay in touch with his twin sister Julie on the facebook.

In his hometown of LaFayette, Mayor Barry Moody recently proclaimed May 27 as "Boobee Day" in celebration of his athletic and academic achievements.
The only thing I take exception to is that every day should be "Boobee Day."
