I have ever seen.
Absolutely pathetic. Pitiful.
-
too fucking pissed to respond. Fuck the spread...
-
Did Kodi Burns die this week?
-
Fuck the spread...
That's what she said
-
That's what she said
No. Not the time.
We suck. Bad.
Thank God for our defense.
-
I am speechless. I am without speech.
-
It's all good.
We only ran three plays tonight.
We didn't want to reveal anything that LSU could use against us.
It will take some time to implement the spread.
You got a week, Tony. Make us believers.
-
Call Borges and see if he wants his old job back. We looked like a 1A high school team trying to play tonight. We fucking suck.
-

That game has soured my sense of humor. I can't even laugh at this. I know you're being somewhat facetious, but I'm going to do this anyway.
No, Franklin did not hold back the offense. That was it. If the guard and tackle pulls, that's our run play. The backside defensive end will run it down.
Chris Todd throws ducks. Franklin raved about his screens. We aren't throwing them. Fannin had one carry in the very beginning of the game for 12 yards. He was NEVER SEEN AGAIN. Maybe he went with Lester to the hospital.
We fumbled.
We had way too many penalties.
We had a safety against us.
We had a few drops.
We had a QB who made bad decisions.
We had a head coach screaming his lungs out AT our offense in the 4th quarter.
-
You know, now that I think about it, I bet ol' Tony is laughing his ass off right now. We have LSU right where we want them. They're going to come into JHS next week thinking they are playing Opelika High and we are going to break out some Chik-Fil-A Bowl shit on them. Yeah, and they'll be all like, "What the fuck was that?" after the game when we score 6 points on them, I'm going to call it now, we will win 6-5. Dunn returns a punt for the TD and Byrum misses the PAT.
-
The thing is, this defense is championship caliber. Maybe the offense only needs to score a FG for Auburn to win.
-
Kodi might have made a difference, but as shitty as our line was blocking....
What happened to the plays that we run against Clemson? Where was Fannin?
We looked pretty darn good on the long routes. The problem is, this offense was designed for short routes. Either the QB can't see the open guy short, or there aren't any open guys short.
Next week will be a really good time to drink.
Please get an RB that can find a handle on the ball.
-
To the Defense I say AWESOME job...A++++ Effort, I apologize that the offense let the shutout go that you deserved!!
I cannot even speak regarding our offense, I feel right how I would if we had lost that game. I do not understand, I really don't.
That has got to be overall the worst offensive performance I have ever seen, not one thing can be said towards the positive. We will lose next week I have no doubts about that, I don't think they will kill us because of our D, but we will lose.
Has anyone checked on Kaos, he might have blown an artery tonight.
-
No. Not the time.
We suck. Bad.
Thank God for our defense.
At least field goals are still worth more than safeties. Auburn usually loses these kind of games (MSU last year, hogs and UGA in 2006, Ga Tech in 2005), where the offense is a no-show and seemingly a hindrance to the defense.
Think about how much of this is correctable. I think the OL penalties will be corrected. Is Ziemba going to jump offsides and hold twice next week? Bosley had a false start, and Pugh had the shutout-ending sumo tackle in the endzone. I think the field goal misses will be addressed, and the free-kick out of bounds can be fixed. Think about how much seemed to go wrong, yet Auburn still had 320 yards. How many self-inflicted errors limited scoring? Makeable field goals that were missed - 6 points. Dumb play-calling by not switching to Burns on the option at 1&G at 7 cost another four points in settling for a FG attempt instead of TD. How many possesions were fucked by long down-and-distance due to penalty? Robert Dunn's 25+ yard catch down the middle very late that was called back due to holding by Ziemba comes to mind.
You know it's not as bad as it looked. Don't get me wrong, it was really bad. But at least it was not a loss. In my mind, it is better to lay an egg this week than next, especially without the loss. I'm glad we showed LSU the bounce-the-pitch-off-Davis's-shoulder play, so they will have to think about that one all week. Oh, and they'll definitely know to watch for the draw on third-and-long too.
Reminds me of Arkansas last year, except without the BOOM MOTHERFUCKER comedy gold.

You, my friend, have had some good drinks tonight.

You, my friend, have had some good drinks tonight.
No way thats drinks, he got a hold of some Frankenstein shit, don't forget to pass it around brother.
I am all for optimism, I am one of the most optimistic fuckers on this board, but that was a disgrace.
-
You all jump on someone else about feeling "positive" about this game. I'm not one in that camp at this time, and I've done nothing but be patient, not make snap stupid fucking judgments, and defend a developing process. However, while I'm sure there can be positives taken from this game, mainly due to the defense, the ineffectiveness of the offensive scheme, in how it adjusted (in other words it didn't) takes me back to the Noel Mazzone days. Those were sad, sad days.
There's still a chance that this can improve, but it's starting to get dismal. If things don't improve quickly, Tony Franklin will go the way of the great old "Nallsminger" offense.
Fuck. That is all.
Now I'm watching the end of Ohio State's fucking showing tonight and have to listen to Brent "Suck my fucking balls" Mussberger, out of nowhere mention, without being part of any conversation... just out of nowhere, say how nice it was to see fucking Alabama come back out strong tonight... Of course he didn't mention it was against fucking Western Fucking Sister Humping Kentucky... but I digress.
-
3 fucking points against a team that will 4 game this year :puke: I'm fucking sick and tired of this gimmick offense bullshit that were running. I say fire Franklin now, line up under center and run the fucking football out the I formation.

If we could install this supposed gargantuan offense in 9 days, I'm sure we can become a power-I team in five.
-
ummm... just curious, do have you guys seen the players that play on offense tonight? Were they left in ATL Jan 1st? I watched that game and I was sick... just fucking sick.
What the fuck is this shit? This is no fucking playstation game, why in the fuck of camels were we running a draw play on 3rd and 18?
i don't have words for this fucking thread. Who in the happy fuck replaced our offense with Locust Fork high school?
-

Make it so.
-
I am 28 years old, and have been watching Auburn football all my life. I can not remember an offense looking as inept and lost as the one I saw tonight. That was absolutely pathetic. I'm too pissed off and drunk to type more at this time.
FUCK.
-

Yeah, normally I just sniff gasoline, but I can't afford that anymore and I'm on some harder stuff tonight. I said it was really bad, just not irreparably bad. I'm just not going to do a chicken-little-extrapolation and write off next week tonight. I have no doubt that if they play that way next week, it will be a bad loss. I also have no doubt that all of the self-inflicted problems will be recognized and addressed during the week (and maybe some will even be corrected). They laid an egg tonight, and we are lucky it was just MSU on the other side of the field.
-
that game was like watching two old people fuck.

At least when 2 old people fuck someone scores!

nice hustle! Am I the only one who feels like we lost tonight?
-
nice hustle! Am I the only one who feels like we lost tonight?
The better team lost tonight.
I have never seen a worse offensive gameplan EVER - not just in Auburn football - EVER. E-V-E-R. That was atrocious beyond anything imaginable. Tony Franklin should resign out of sheer humiliation. The offense should have to hitchhike home while the defense gets to ride in limos.
And I had to hear my beloved give me shit about why Auburn and MSU played baseball tonight instead of football. Good thing he is not in AL yet. I just might have smacked him.
-
Well todd is 3 and 0 as the starting pitcher
-
nice hustle! Am I the only one who feels like we lost tonight?
Just go back and read the thread. I think there's a big time "WTF!!" theme here. We did win, but fuck, it's going to take a good night sleep and an almost false sense of early week excitement about the LSU game to get me in the mood on time. There better be some clear cut fucking explanations this week about Kodi, and all the other shit this weekend. Our athletes and talent level is TOO GOOD to be wasted by fucking inept coaching, and right now, that's what's happening.
-
word.. I can only imagine how the players must feel, you know were frustrated, but they must be thinkinking WTF 10 fold. This could get ugly fast.
-
The better team lost tonight.
Not really. Luckily for Auburn, Wesley Carroll is just slightly worse behind center than our guy tonight, and Croom made a stupid assed call on the 4th and 1 with 5 minutes to go. Had he punted the ball, we would have lost the game.
MSU has a decent defense, but I think our non-existent offense should take the credit for them looking so good against us. Our defense is going to keep us in every game we play....until they tire out from exhaustion.

You right our shitty ass offense made an average defense look like the fucking steel curtain.

As long as Chris Todd is the quarterback and Tony Franklin is the offensive coordinator, it is irreprably bad. And that's just a fact.
Chris Todd is NOT an SEC caliber quarterback. He is by far the worst signal caller in the league. He would be one of the worst in CUSA -- if not THE worst. This is what I was trying to say earlier in the week when I looked at his numbers at Diddly Squat Community College. He was the least productive quarterback in that rinky dink league -- and none of the ones who performed better than he did are playing D1. Franklin is so clueless he can't recognize that.
Franklin cannot function in the SEC. He isn't capable of recognizing SEC talent, is completely mystified by the speed of SEC defenses -- and has nothing in his repitiore to counteract it. This pathetic garbage might work in the AISA or Canadian football, but it is going to be a disaster of even greater proportions than my worst nightmares.
Put Franklin on the road and give the job to Eddie Gran.
I hate being right.

A Few Points, if you will:
First Road Game!!! Don't throw the baby out with the bath water....let it play out. ALL of the mistakes can and will be worked on this week. Auburn's Defense is a 12-0 type D, the Offense, based off of 3 games, is a 7-5 type offense. If the Offensive Coaches can get a few things hammered out this week, then this team will beat LSU *Heard It Here First*, and the Offense will be an 8-4/9-3 type offense.
Onto Tonights game:
It seemed to me that the offense was sleep walking out there, the MSU Secondary is apparently the best Secondary in the Country, #94 is the 1st Pick of next year's draft....and the 15 second toss sweep is the worst play in all of college football, the school for the Blind and Deaf could shut that play down.
To me, everytime the offense had something going, something would happen and we'd punt...Auburn had nearly 100 yards of Penalties to MSU's 23 yards. Some of the holding calls were some of the worst that I've seen called in a Very Long time....It's called Home Cooking for a reason.
Also, I'd heard that there was a 15-25 mph head wind, that might've been the reason why the long passes were under thrown.
This offense can run smoothly, if the QB can get a good snap from the Center. The snap is more important than some people realize.
Think back to the game, everytime Auburn got a 4-5 yard play on first or second down, the next play AU had a penalty.....usually a holding call, or AU fumbled, most of the game. Any drive will be killed most of the time if you get behind the chains....or turn the ball over.
Plus, MSU cheats (by SEC Rules) by using artificial noise makers.
I'm definitely not ready to write off this offense.....Larry Langford can get this fixed, I Believe that, Mmm Hmm.
That is ALL, (3-0) and WAR FUCKIN' EAGLE!!!!!!

Worst offensive performance in the history of Auburn football. This was Doug Barfield bad. I've been watching Auburn football for 40-something years. I've never seen anything that completely inept.
There is no excuse for that. None whatsoever.
-
I think Franklin sold all of his Touchdown plays to the High Schools :taunt:

Previous first road games -
2007 At Gainesville - W 20-17
2006 At Starkville - W 34-0
2005 At Fayetteville - W 34-17
2004 At Starkville - W 43-14
2008 At Starkville - 3-2
More points of disinterest:
Chris Todd fumbled the snap. He bobbled three more.
Tristan Davis couldn't take the pitch.
Ben Tate is still fumbling.
Penalties are the result of poor coaching.
A team "sleepwalking" is a result of poor motivation. Tuberville gets his teams up for away games. The defense showed me that Tubs still has it in him.
Deciding to let Chris Fucking Todd run a QB keeper when it's 3rd and long in the red zone is bad game planning. This isn't Two-A-Days on MTV. That shit don't work here.
Our team was better off with the vanilla style of offense that Borges called the last two years.
It's the third week of the season. It's a little late to be hammering out the kinks. This is the time to put your best against their best and see who has the better team.

WOW !
3 weeks ago this was going to be the most explosive offense in the history of football.
I think quite a few ''bammers'' were saying something about high school offense? Glad to see your having fun with it.
-
Now that I've had a good night's sleep and some time to reflect on it, I've come to the conclusion that:
Ohio State is the most overrated team in history!!!
Out of all the crap that happened last night, I think the one thing that pissed me off the most was leaving Todd in the game. When it is painfully OBVIOUS that he can't get the job done and the play calling is some of the worst since Noel Mazzone, you might TRY to give the reins back to Burns for a few series and let him run the offense.
Look, there are plenty of times that Burns could have taken off and/or scrambled to make something happen. Why is it that all we heard in the off season was how the QB in this offiense HAS to be able to run to make it effective? How many times did we hear that we WILL use two QBs during the game because of how much running they do and the beating they will take? Is anyone going to tell me with a straight face that Todd has a better arm, is more accurate and faster than Burns? Try none of the above.
I know the old saying about how the second string QB is always the most popular guy on the team....but this is ridikalus. Todd should have had one series in the second half and when that went in the shitter, it should have been Burns' game from that point on.
And let me rant on one other point. A couple (not all) of those holding calls were as pathetic as I've seen in a long, long, loooong time.
Okay, I'm not stopping there. Bob Davie is retarded and should be put down. That is all.
-

Worst game calling ever, fits right in. If fucking Davie had said one more time about how Pugh was the center, they moved I was about to put my shoe through the TV. IT WAS FUCKING BOSLEY DUMBASS

Don't laugh quite yet. WKU isn't exactly USC. Seems you guys have some issues as well (Tulane) and I still say we rack up #7 on you this November.....with or without Tony Franklin.

I'd like to give a shout out to CTF and the offense for making tomorrow at work a pure living hell! Thanks guys!! I've got a bama idiot in the office beside mine and a dawg fan on the other side. Our IT guy is a huge bama ass as well, I'm sure I'll be getting a visit from him in the am. This offense was a true wonder of fuck ups to behold. I've been an AU fan since I was old enough to holler War Eagle, and this had to be the shittiest offensive performance I've ever seen. Sorry guys, just needed to vent a little...and in keeping with the spirit of the board...FUCK Y'ALL! That is all, carry on.

Just got tell the mouthbreather sister humping redneck bammers to go fuck themselves. It was Western Kentucky, not USC, and remind them they only scored one fucking touchdown against TULANE, a team that was in the process of escaping a hurricane that week. Georgia isn't going to crazy about a 14 point performance against a team that lost to fucking Vandy last week. Fuck the lot of them. Seven is still on the board for this year.

How did you like the spread and point output from last night?
-
How did you like the spread and point output from last night?
I'm a big fan of spreading it out to one point per quarter.

:flag:
The offense looked like shit. That was eaten. And then re-shit.
I was too disgusted last night to comment. And far too drunk.
I agree somewhat with DNAtl. I at least understand where he's coming from. The most disgusting part of that suckfest was the bonehead mistakes and penalties. We couldn't get a good drive going because we kept having to back up. These are supposed to be fixable and nothing to worry about. I'm kinda starting to get worried about them though. The fumbling and shit has GOT to stop. That dropped pass to Tristan was inexcusable.
The second most disgusting thing was failing to at least give Kodi a series or two by late in the third quarter. I understand that the idea here is to instill the team leadership role and show confidence in your #`1 guy. But there's no sense in giving a leash long enough to completely hang himself when we have a qualified QB like Burns waiting in the wings.
Like everyone has said, the defense might possibly be the best in the nation. It's a damn shame the offense is fucking that up for them and scoring only one point less for the other team as they are for ours.
-
I hate being correct to the detriment of my team, but Kodi Burns has to play now. Todd shouldn't be doing anything but fetching water for Kodi and offering Shiatsu massages.
So, to all the Todd believers: line up and kiss my ass. Taylor should get some as well.
-
Also, I wanted to add that I am confused by this piss-poor performance of the Franklin offense.
I know that it took Troy half a season to work the kinks out of it.
But I didn't think we'd have to. We looked lights-out in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl against Clemson after a couple weeks of practicing the system.
I guess Clemson instilled the same sense of false confidence in us that they did in uat after their opener. I guess Clemson just truly sucks monkey dicks.
-

I fact checked to make sure i wasn't seeing things at the game before i made this post. Pugh was center. Bosley got moved to right tackle before the southern miss game. anyway thanks the heavens we have a fucking awesome defense. this should keep us in alot of games and if we can get some breaks or home cooking we can be alright this year.
-
I know and understand the frustration, but some of you are sounding more like the bammer stereotype. I am no party-line sunshine-pumper, but I realistically see the benefit of shatting this egg last night versus later. Do you not think that Tubs gets it? Do you not trust that he will chew some ass and get this shit straightened out post-haste? Short of outright losing the game, that was as much of an exposure of flaw as possible. And like I said last night, there does not seem to me to be a lot that LSU could take and use from that, as the majority was self-inflicted.
To me, the biggest blunder of the game was not bringing in Burns on 1&G at the 7 to open up the option run. It was obvious at halftime that ten points would put the game out of reach, and a touchdown there would have forced MSU to press with passing to catch up. How is Byrum missing a chip shot and a 80+%-makeable FG fall on Franklin and Todd? What if Burns came in cold and pressed himself into an ill-advised INT like last week? Then you got 2 confidence-shaken QB's and the defense put on a short field. Put Burns in goal-line situations, and then later it would be more comfortable bringing him in the regular offense for the change-of-pace series.

Also, to clarify, I would much prefer Burns to be "the guy", and not the change-of-pace.

Looks like we only had about one goal line situation last night....despite incredibly good field position to start just about every series in the second half. How in the hell did Kodi Burns go from starter in the first game to marinating on the sidelines while Todd screwed the pooch all night. Todd got worse and worse with each progressive series. LSU will eat his ass up and then we really will be relegated to bringing a cold QB off the bench who hasn't been taking any game snaps.
-
I'm not sold on Burns a Qb, he is a runner, not a passer. Caudle should get some snaps this week. For the Record Todd sucked last night and should be fisted.
-
Why the fuck can't we just have the I-Formation with the spread?
That's what pisses me off. Why not mix it up? Yeah, yeah - we'll throw and spread em out down the field, but once we get in the red zone, let's pound it.

Here my take on this,
Tony Fucking Franklin (notice that I sure as hell didn't use the word coach in front of his name) might want to try buying his old business back. If that fucker doesn't get Todd's dick out of his mouth, and put in a qb that gives us a chance to win, then he needs to go. It's a fucking shame that we have a defense this fucking good, and no offense to go with it. Ziemba needs to pull his big ole head out of his ass, and start playing ball, the RBs should take that same advice. This is not shit that should still be affecting us in the third game of the season. Maybe it's focus, because Tate didn't seem to have butterfuckingfingers last year. Whatever it is, it needs to change and change fast, like five days fast.
Oh yeah, thanks Texas, I like Rhodes better, cause he teaches em how to play fundamentally sound defense, and how to look for a fucking ball while its in the air.

Deja vu all over again:
Against ULM:
I think they got tense and tight,” Franklin said. “I don’t care who you are, when you come out your first game and you know you’re not going to be in the next time. You’re probably concerned about the reps and making a mistake and wondering if it’s your last one. I didn’t do a very good job of letting either one of them get a rhythm.”
Last night:
Franklin blamed himself for his team failing to score on a first and goal at the seven-yard line after Ben Tate ran for five yards to the two on first down. “I screwed it up,” he said. “We got in a bunch set with two tight ends and tried to run the ball in. I should have done what I am more comfortable with and got it another way. Hindsight is always good, but I did some things I game-planned this week. There were some things we liked inside the 10-yard and that is what we did and they were ugly and didn’t work so it was stupid on my part.”
So he admits openly that he is a dumbass. I understand throwing yourself under the bus for your players, but somehow I don't feel like he really believes that he was wrong. Either way, third game of the season is not any place to be making "stupid" coaching decisions.

He's needs to understand that this is not the SunBelt. He's playing big boy football again, and taking the blame for this shit week after week is only going to get him fired. Not that he could place the blame anywhere else though.
Tony Franklin the Spread Guru = :bs:

I fact checked to make sure i wasn't seeing things at the game before i made this post. Pugh was center. Bosley got moved to right tackle before the southern miss game. anyway thanks the heavens we have a fucking awesome defense. this should keep us in alot of games and if we can get some breaks or home cooking we can be alright this year.
I know Pugh was the center, you would have had to watch the game on TV. Bosley got hurt at the beginning of the night and they talked about how Pugh was taking over for him at center (after he got hurt), and that his shoulder had been hurting and that they had moved Pugh to tackle and now he was back at center. Problem is that Pugh never took over for Boz when he got hurt because he was already at center (from the beginning of the game), he had been playing center all week. Bosley was the one they moved to Tackle because of shoulder issues. Davie talked about it at least 3 times.

Sorry, J, but Kodi throws a pretty pass. He just needs some reps in a game.
He is a dual threat.

We've been through this BEFORE. Does anybody remember the whole NallsMinger Campbell/Cobb debate? Jason wasn't smart enough to run the offense. Jason wasn't the leader Cobb was, blah blah blah. Cobb, the juco phenom was supposed to help give AU a boost.
It eventually became evident that what Jason needed was somebody to put confidence in him and the freedom to BE the man. He needed the first-team reps.
I wish people would study history. When we don't we're doomed to repeat it.
