Excerpts from Tuesday presser:
"Saturday was a big win for our program. ... Really feel like we're in a good spot for the rest of the season.
-- On giving over play-calling duties to Rhett Lashlee: "Something after the first game that it really hit me that it (was) 100 percent best for our team" to do.
-- On Paul James: He has a knee injury "doesn't look like he'll be back the rest of the season."
-- On no longer play calling: "My plan in the off-season was to be more involved like I talked about. Sometimes reality hits you. This day in this league, to be a head coach and calls plays" isn't best.
-- Reiterates that it "hit me after Game 1" that him calling plays wasn't "realistic" as a head coach
-- "I'll still be on top of things in all three phases."
-- On difference in no longer calling plays: "It was very refreshing last week; during practice, during preparation. I wasn't coaching angry out there Saturday."
-- "I felt like I was too negative the first couple of games ... living and dying every play."
-- On Red Zone: "I think it's just overall evaluation of all of the above." Scheme, fitting to players, play calling.
-- On lack of negative plays in running back: Thought it was a big key. "I thought Kerryon Johnson was a full-grown man."
-- Says Malik Miller and Kam Martin will be ready if called upon
-- On the Toomer's Corner fire: "I hope they punish the guy big time."
-- Calls Les Miles a "legend" in the SEC
-- Says nobody connected to the program had any influence on his decision to give up play calling: "Zero"

Let's see...it hit him after game 1. I guess he waited until it kicked him in the shin after game 3 to do something about it?

I will say, you could see the difference in that regard. He looked more like a fan than a coach, especially at the end of the game.

That's just because he had a cap on instead of a visor.

Had he lost that might have become a reality.

Ear-regardless of how this looks at this stage of the season and his career, it is what it be. I'm just happy to know who is handling the play calling from here on out.
It always helps to know exactly who to call "Asshole, Idiot and Fucking Putz.

So red zone, go with JF3 maybe, for a couple of plays? Have him fake like he's going to run and throw it underneath to our invisible TE...the opponent won't know what hit them.

Kaos thought I was going to be DC...He apparently has no clue what the fuck he's doing and needs to fired as HC before he makes anymore mistakes.

#1 priority this week is red zone productivity.
The biggest concern now isn’t the offense’s ability to get up an down the field. It’s whether or not it can score touchdowns when reaching the red zone. That’s where the offensive woes have been most noticeable.
“From an offensive standpoint, that’s going to be the No. 1 focus, is going to be being productive in the red zone,†Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said Tuesday. “As far as planning, as far as practice time, that will be our No. 1 focus.â€

Against the ONES I presume. Otherwise, it's just a waste of valuable PRACTICE TIME (IMHO).

And that's exactly why Gus is going to get more involved in the offense. Wait...what?

Yeeeeaah...I've turned the red zone offense over to Coach Hand. Something after the fourth game that it really hit me that it (was) 100 percent best for our team" to do.
Felt like I was too negative in the red zone. Coaching mad. Living and dying on every red zone play.

Thats just coach speak. Let me know how your really feel.

It doesn't matter what I feel; it only matters what I can prove.
And don't tell me what I know and don't know; I know the law!

So turn it over to Hand, bring in an extra tackle or Harris; go twin set with fullback or go Pettway, Johnson. Go to the TE, bootleg, student body, trap or go no QB direct snap on the hut, hut instead of the hut...just get the fucker in there.

You have been warned about posting in reference to going on the hut, hut.

Gus Malzahn promises 'some different things' with red-zone offense
"Before the last two years, we've been one of the best teams in the country year in and year out," Malzahn said Tuesday. "And last year and the start of this year, we've been just the opposite."
Malzahn said the No. 1 focus in practice moving forward will be the red zone — from execution to evaluation of the scheme, to play-calling and everything else that is involved with that aspect of the game.
"That's the No. 1 thing from our offensive standpoint that we need to solve," Malzahn said. "We're going to focus on that like crazy. You will see some different things in the red zone moving forward, put it that way."
Translation: Gus is on this. Everybody chill until the next episode.

I don't do movie reviews but this Gushlee saga is a bonafide hit with all non-Auburn fans. The acting is superb. Who's playing the troubled genius head coach?

Nice work. It gets kinda hairy each week down on the goal line and just when you think it's gonna happen...FG!

I hope he means this thing called "touchdowns."

Touchdowns? That's about as likely as a throw to the tight end.

Yeah.. or you to finally get back your ba... nevermind.

Will Monroe stonewall us?
I'm setting the over/under on Carlson FGs at 4 1/2.

Change it to PATs, and in the first half.

I will deliver the most wicked Oi-Zuki to your larynx, mister.

How many fake FGs you reckon he might run for TDs right?

What if, JUST WHAT IF, A touchdown to a tight end?

I say we line Carlson up there. Dude's a scoring machine. Where does McCafferty stand in points scored, all purpose?

I'm tired of him talking.

He doesn't have the entertainment value of Les or Ed.
If we are gonna suck, let's at least be funny sucking.

I'm tired of him talking.
I feel though he is at least being somewhat more genuine, rather than the usual coach speak. Maybe not!?!

I agree. Something about him seemed a little different in his latest presser. Maybe he's seen the light, or been shown the door that he's about to get kicked out of if this doesn't get turned around.
