4 games in. The Tigers are 2-2 and obviously, the offense needs to pull it's head out of it's collective ass. I think most on here felt that the D would keep us in a lot of games and it appears that was prophetic. It's not by any means an orange and blue sunglasses stretch to think this team could easily be 4-0 if Gus & Co. had not gone full tard (Something you never do) to start the season. Mind boggling stuff to say the least. If they get some things corrected on that side of the ball, this thing could possibly start picking up steam.
I watched the game on replay tonight and it's obvious, our D is fast, athletic, salty and sexay. Their numbers aren't overwhelming by any means but I think we could all agree they're the only positive reason we've struggled to 2-2. If our offense is even half what a normal Malzahn machine is like, our D is top 10-15. But...a work progress. Ofensively:
Sean White is:
64-97 744 yds 3 TD's 1 Int. 138.6 Rating
Running Backs:
Kerryon Johnson 78-371 2 TD's
Kameron Pettway 53-336 1 TD
Receiving:
Tony Stevens 17-235 2 TD's
Kyle Davis 5-120
Marcus Davis 13-100
Ryan Davis 12-84
Daruis Slayton 4-91
Kicking: Holy Shipth
Daniel Carlson 8-8 on Extra Points. 12-12 Field Goals Made. 44 Total Points.
Defensively:
No individual stats. Just 385 yards per game (45th) and only giving up 18.8 ppg. We're not at or near the top in total D but as I said before, if our offense gets untracked, on the track, on track, off the track, we're one of the better units in the country. On a personal note, Marlon Davidson, as a true freshman, gives me wood. Derrick Brown, as a true freshman, causes chub poppage. Our linebackers, for the first time in eons, puts life in limp.
Anyway... Thoughts?

Go Jumbo in the redzone. Use our personnel.
We have a bench full of potential. Use it starting this week in order to get well and iron out our glaring gameplanning and coaching deficiencies on the offensive side of the ball.
Many here take the outcome against the Corndogs for granted and are so easily willing to turn a blind eye.
I do not.
We were an eyelash away from the agony of defeat and Monday musings of what's next for our pal Gushlee.
But for better or worse, he's ours.

I think that you have too much free time.

With the glaring exception of Tony Stevens on Saturday, almost all of our guys are performing when given an opportunity (read: when the play calling isn't designed by an crack-addled rhesus monkey).
If the offensive coaches could stop shitting all over themselves, this team could win big.

You complete me.

^^^This. Right here. All of it^^^
What in the world has happened to Stevens anyway? And why not put one of those talented Freshmen in his spot just to shake things up?

I paid attention to the read option all night. The DE was squatting on the QB forcing the hand off all night. SO when I got frustrated that Sean did not keep it, I could see why.
The difference in him and our normal read option is that nick and JF3 have enough speed to beat the DE. SW may have enough also, but is not accustomed to trying. Maybe if he see the DE squat, that will give him enough time to get around the DE. A few of those and the run opens up more. Or maybe and option off the DE. We need a bit of creativity.
We also need to see JF3 a series or two when the defense is playing the run like that. Tell him to keep it when the DE squats. It could be a great combination.

This is Division 1 football:
We had about three overthrown passes and maybe three drops.
Meh. It happens right?
But I will tell you what shouldn't happen on two critical third downs Coach Burns, not once but twice...TWICE!
In pro ball a receiver might get knocked off a route or get a bad spot but it happens, it's a rarity but it's almost always close.
Our guys were FIVE yards short.
Unforgivable on this level of play.

Anyway to your point, White has a very good ratio and rating going especially considering. He isn't a read option guy but he can spot run like a Bamer and run some bootleg. We have talent at receiver just need to get everyone involved.
Was proud of Kerryon's extra effort Saturday. Hope he keeps it up. We are getting good production but I sure would like to see some twin sets a short game and a Jumbo in the redzone.
As long as our D keeps opponents below 20 we are supposed to win. That was a seriously good offensive line LSU has with Fournette and we did okay v. the run.
And when it counted we brought some heat on Etling. Kid showed some mettle after getting throttled early.
Question: Where is Jason Smith?

Anyway... Thoughts?
We have a lot of Davis's?, Davi?, Davises?
-
We have a lot of Davis's
The Auburn world needs a lot more Davis' and Newtons.

We should automatically sign anyone named Williams. Them folks can all ball.
Well not Robin or Brian mind you but all others.

The defense would be one of the best in the country statistically if they'd stop giving up a few 60+ yarders every game.

Honestly think this goes back to my belief that we have no space eaters meaning tackles with a tackle mentality.
Our guys up front don't like being confined to an area and "staying at home," which is what they call disciplined football. That's a challenge for Steele because our guys are all very talented pursuers and likely will be on the next level. And IMO, they sometimes run out of position opening a gaping hole. I think it's just their nature though it's a detriment to how good we could be overall.
Rock could probably fix it where Garner can't.
