I have said since last year that Gus Malzahn was a threat to the program, and I think the games this year have assured this. We have watched a team that has looked lost on offense all year. We have a god damned full back taking snaps at QB, we don't throw the ball past five yards, and we run it on first down 95% of the time How can someone watch these games and actually make a case for the "Offensive Genius" to still be the head coach of top 15 football program historically?
Sean White should honestly go to Gus's office and refuse to dress. He is a QB who has the talent to maybe win a lot of football games in the SEC, but instead, he has been handcuffed by a head coach who has done nothing with his career except win a Sun Belt and a few Arkansas High School Football State Championships. Maybe Sean will get lucky and have a fake rape case brought up against him and he'll be kicked off because the coach won't even investigate it himself. That would be better than risking his health throwing bubble screens the rest of the year.
What is mentioned above isn't patterns from this year either. They began against TAMU in 2014. I don't know what happened but Auburn has not been the same since. For this reason, it is time for a change. Gus saved his ass last year by that amazing Birmingham Bowl Victory, but it's time to kick Malzahn's AND Jacobs' ass to the curb.
It's time for Auburn Football to be serious again. We need an AD with no ties to the University and we should give him full control and tell him to win. If this leads to paying out the ass for a coach and letting him run the show, so be it. This is honestly the only way I can see Auburn succeeding in the future. We can not have Gus win enough games to save his job again or Auburn football will go from being The New Mississippi State to the New Vanderbilt.

This isn't the NFL. He can't demand a trade.

President just retired. They have to fry that big fish first. Plus, Auburn still makes money so the PTB don't see Jacobs as the pariah all of you do.

What gives you any inkling something like that would ever happen? We are the most likely to hire people with ties to the school/program as any group in the SEC.
Also, -25 for tricking me into thinking this was a hot women wearing tank tops thread.

Our football program is in the shit. Do we stay with gus and stay in the shit?
OR
We cut our losses at the end of the year?
recruitment takes hit either way.

Silver lining...
Coach Malzahn's failure causes Auburn to fire AD Jay Jacobs.

I don't think it will happen. Like has been said, we are still making money.

Yep. This was touched on briefly back in July/August on here.

Hold on....this was Gus' master plan all along? Fuckin genius. His best trick play of all time. Well played Gustav.

"a head coach who has done nothing with his career except win a Sun Belt and a few Arkansas High School Football State Championships."
Seriously??? Calling an offense that led the nation 2 years in a row in total offense. A National Championship as OC and 13 seconds away from another as a head coach??? Yeah, that's what he's done with his career. Look, I'm as pissed as anyone about his direction with the offense. He's got shit he needs to fix. And if he doesn't, he should be gone. But let's put the pipe down.

Does the pipe have kush in it? If so, can we just pass it?

Look, Arizona State's ex-coach is not relevant to this thread.

Taking a rape charge to get kicked off the team is a bit much don't ya think??

JMO but if the Corndog's part with Miles and hire Briles we are screwed worse than ever before.
And if they wait it out for Hermann we might never recover. Okay forever's a long time and some of you millennials so you might witness an Auburn rebirth.
LSU already has the best young DC in Aranda and hiring either of these HCs will place us in a double hammerlock. Even the Turds have to consider the repercussions if this takes place. Les Miles doesn't scare them.
Briles might be too much of a pariah like Petrino was viewed back when Gus was hired but I feel pretty confident he would have us contending in the SEC West with this talent (cupboard far from bare) instead of searching for his first SEC home win over two seasons. His head coaching days at least among power five schools might be over.
Hermann no doubt has a far better upside.
That said, what if we somehow beat LSU this Saturday? Have to admit, that would make us happy right? As a lifelong fan the answer is yes.
A win buys Gus more time even if his future is in jeopardy with the ptb but this might cement the fate of Miles if the decision hasn't already been made.
Should we lose, our next best shot for a home win is likely against Mississippi State. It's not a given, especially if this skid continues along with the hope of any bowl invitation.
So that's where I am after reading through several threads. We seem stuck with Jacobs who keeps dumping money on Malzahn and one of, if not the top paid staff in cfb while the results are at best mediocre. That's what we have become.

Briles is attached to a rape scandal. There's no way he can come to Auburn. He could go to LSU. Their state media will cover for them and paint him as some saint that was in the wrong place at the wrong time. But the state of Alabama would never let it go, and ESPN would have Tom Rinaldi interviewing emotional girls about how much they fear Briles being on campus.

I don't know, man. I'll never root for Auburn to lose, but the house needs cleaning. Can't throw a small Tuesday night shindig knowing that you'll never have another Friday or Saturday night bash if you don't get your shit back in order.

I was at Ft. Benning when this movie was made. My unit was in the PT scene. They had to shoot that scene about 15 times cause guys kept tripping and falling getting into formation. At 1:03 War Eagle plaque on the wall.
Cool story, I know.

Im forever grateful for what Gus has done, but I stand by what I said. This is the same coach that has been on record saying "I didn't know how good Cam was until a few games in." What the hell? He's only the best QB I've ever seen in my lifetime. Also, 2009, 2010, and 2013 were our best offenses. What do the two offenses that don't contain Cam Newton have in common? They were brand new to the football world. Nobody knew how to defend them and now they do and we're absolutely fucked. We had 17 first downs and 10 points at one moment in the game Saturday. That's pretty hard to do unless you're trying to.
Even you said he needs to fix his shit. I would just prefer he fix his shit outside of Auburn Alabama.

As much as I would like to credit Gus for cam, I can't. Cam was like Bo. You don't coach that level of talent. Some players just have IT. And they make some coaches look much better than they really are.
