Title: It Should Come as No Surprise...
Post by: jmar on September 08, 2016, 06:09:03 AM
...that Gushlee was using both Johnson and White as a stopgap until JFIII was aclimated to his surroundings. Nick got worked in against Mississippi State and it might take a bit longer but it WILL happen.

This might even get us to 8 or nine wins and most of you would find that acceptable given the first game debacle.

According to the Googles....

Nick Marshall was 10/19 for 98 yards against Washington State. 9 carries for 27 yards.

10/17 for 147 yards and 2 touchdowns against Arkansas State. 8 carries for 53 yards.

23 of 34 for 339 yards and 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions against Miss State. 10 carries for 22 yards.

John Franklin III was 1 for 1 for -3 yards against Clemson. 0 carries.

While yes, it looks like Marshall didn't really hit his stride until the Miss State game, it was obvious that he was our quarterback for the season. JFIII handed the ball off a few times.

I stand corrected though I disagree with you that we knew he would take over.
Are you saying the plan for Franklin is not already in the works?

I realize that but the genius that is Gushlee must prevail.

Deep down you know that's Gus' plan.

If so, it's as dumb as Saturday's plan.

acclimate?  we aren't talking about bringing a goldfish home.  fuck that. if he isn't ready put him on the practice squad.   if the 3rd was the next coming of Marshall he would have started or at least came in and finished the game.    I don't see anything in the other QB's that gets me willy nilly on a Saturday night like Jumbo.

if he's claimed the fasted on the field, perhaps, use him in a different capacity.

Indeed but I think he had rather have a read option QB that can throw a little than listen to White who's seeing the field or to arm the kid with a short game. I really think that's Gus' mentality when it comes to running "his" offense.

Do not disagree. And I'm not advocating such a switch. It's just where I think Gus will take this.

***Warning***  Super insider, look at my glorious, barbecue slathered ePenis info to follow.

I was at the practice when they named Nick Marshall the starter.  They ran a controlled scrimmage with Marshall, JJ and Wallace all trading series.  Hey, kind of like this past Saturday.  Marshall was named the starter because he looked like Tom Brady compared to....how would K put it?  I'll give it a try.  Two Down Syndrome monkeys trying to hump a coconut.  There was no QB battle that year.

Exactly. Marshall was the starter from the start that year. He played every game as the starter. Comparing Marshall to JFIII in any way is stupid...

Can you people consider the circumstance with the read option available instead of Nick? There is no comparison, NONE. I shouldn't have even mentioned him.
All I'm saying is that Gus can't wait to make this guy THE MAN.

If you can squeeze a sponge and stare at a starfish then it's obvious that Jupiter is brown and that chocolate is good with grass. But only in the morning. We all know the drab feeling of a long day. Ammarite?

Isn't that an English translation of whatever Jameis said to FSU Monday night at halftime?

I can take some good natured teasing for an admitted fucked-up thread and subsequent unlawful postings by phone while driving.

Anyway upon listening to the Jameis halftime bit my first thought was how we could only wish Bo Jackson had pulled Gus over to the side at halftime to give his honest thoughts on what he had just witnessed.
