Try and break into my house, I'll duct tape yo' ass to a tree....til you die.

LEROY, Ala. – Authorities say a suspected burglar is dead after an Alabama homeowner tied him to a tree after catching the man breaking into his home.
According to AL.com, Washington County Sheriff Richard Stringer says 68-year-old Nathanial Johnson, of Leroy, caught 31-year-old Cleveland Jones Gully breaking into the back door of his home, about 60 miles north of Mobile, on Friday just before midnight.
Stringer says Johnson chased Gully out and Gully either fell or jumped off the back steps. Johnson jumped on him, tied Gully's hands behind his back, put duct tape on his mouth and tied him to a tree with insulated electrical tape and clothesline.
Johnson then went to call 911. When sheriff's deputies arrived about 10 minutes later, Gully was dead.
Stringer says an autopsy will be performed and no charges have been filed yet against Johnson.

For the record, the only times I've snuck into your house, it wasn't to burglarize.

I know. And the description my son gave to the police of the man in his room is strikingly similar to you.

You weren't talking about Mountain Dew?

I wonder how this will play out. If the old man gets jail time, it tells the rest of us to go ahead and shoot!

See, this is what can happen though. Granted, 15 or so broken ribs is a bit unusual in detaining a shoplifter. But, if WT is the judge, I srsly doubt that any of these 3 employees go to jail.
One guy just held the thief's ankles and he is charged with manslaughter.
WT just doesn't get it. The law encourages the public to simply let thieves take whatever they want and let them go. God forbid a thief gets hurt.
I live in a world full of morons.

Walmart should defend those guys tooth and nail and pay for their big time defense lawyers to defend them...

Agreed. If they are considering what is best morally. But, after their lawyers and PR firm gets finished, I expect a full apology, extra training for security staff on how to ONLY call authorities in the event of shoplifting and a multi-million dollar settlement for the thief's family.
That's how it works. And, unfortunately, that is probably a sound business decision. Considering the lawsuits, protests, etc.
What ever happened to the days when people were glad that a thief got what was coming to them? I miss those.

I want to know how many of the broken ribs were caused by people administering CPR to him.
