But while I think he's off on a couple of players below, it does bring up an interesting topic. Who would you consider a bust, strictly based on the hype coming in? Trovon and Kadril are spot on. Don't know who Dixon even is. No way on Sanders. While he looks great in the shower, he was a 4 star but a 2A player. Had a solid career. Stayed in the rotation and got himself a ring. You've probably seen it by now, the viral video of that CFL wide receiver temporarily losing his mind and bumping an opposing coach and then taunting the entire bench.
That receiver, of course, was none other than Duron Carter, who counts Alabama among his many stops on the road to infamy. Carter was briefly a member of the Crimson Tide during the 2010-11 offseason, but never suited up for a game before moving on.
Has there ever been a more hyped player at Alabama or Auburn who produced less than Carter? It's hard to think of one.
Limiting this exercise to just the last decade, there have been plenty of big-time recruits who never made a significant contribution for the Crimson Tide or Tigers for whatever reason.
They might have never enrolled due to poor academics.
Maybe they were dismissed due for disciplinary reasons.
Or maybe it turned out they just couldn't play.
Here are some names to remember that you may have forgotten from the last decade or so:
Alabama: Mike Ford, Alonzo Lawrence, Star Jackson, Phillip Sims, Alfy Hill, Brent Calloway, Eddie Williams, Chris Black
Auburn: Johnnie Lee Dixon, Raven Gray, Trovon Reed, Craig Sanders, Kiehl Frazier, Ricky Parks, Elijah Daniel, Kalvarez Bessent
Which of those on that list was most personally disappointing to you as a fan that he didn't make it big? How about someone not listed or from further back?

Nakita Stover was a 5 star recruit for at least 4 of Alabama's classes when Shula was there.

So they could point and laugh that Auburn stolt a bust from them. Otherwise, I can't imagine why Craig Sanders would be on the list. While not spectacular, he had a pretty good career at Auburn.
