Title: Happy Memorial Day
Post by: Snaggletiger on May 27, 2016, 02:49:36 PM
Early, yeah I know.  But the board is slow and people will be traveling.  So here's to those that gave all and those who serve(d).  We're able to do all this crazy $hit because of you.

Oh yeah.  Forgot about that.  Well then, let's be clear.  I'll thank any vet, dead or alive, or anyone currently serving I damn well please.  Oh and police lives matter too, bitches.  I may thank em' all on Veteran's Day too.  And I may throw a shout out on Easter....and Festivus!

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SERVICE!!!

Well, in their defense would you say Merry Christmas on Labor Day? Sure - Jesus is great and it's awesome that he was born and it's cool to say that any day of the year if you're a Christian but his birth has its observed day.

Have not confirmed, just seen others share it but veterans is just for past served no? And armed forces day is currently serving? Makes sense but no idea if totally true.

ohhhhkay...the Christmas analogy is well just theological, may have or may not.  lot of faith there.  what I do know is the million + soldiers who died serving in the armed forces of the USA is a fact.

Was missed. The point - sincerely,  yoda

Symbolic nature of celebrating observed days and their purposes 'twas the intent (implying the intent of them are a given regardless of theology). We can change the analogy to pilgrims and Indians if that helps. Or perhaps kwanza. I love kwanza.

Millions have indeed died. They get their own day (today) and that is my view of Memorial Day. And I keep it that way. Just my take. I think we agree there. I don't think it takes away from those who served without dying. I just put those who have died above all else in thought on this particular day.

Santa Claus is great but on October 31st I'm all about the fucking candy corn.
