Title: President Cube
Post by: Kaos on April 13, 2016, 11:03:53 AM
Watched an interview with Ice Cube last night.  Came away extremely impressed.  His sane and rational take on almost every issue was such a stark contrast to the shrieking and screaming idiocy you hear from politicians that it got me to wondering why somebody like him who has clear cut ideas and vision without the pandering hyperbole isn't running for president.

If Cube were in the race expressing the ideas he did in the interview I'd have no problem marking his name.

On Trump he said he understands the allure.  Trump represents the Americsn dream of being able to say and do whatever you want.  We complain about the boss but we want to be the boss.  That's going to play well.

He was offended that the interviewer assumed he was s Clinton supporter.  He said she wasn't sincere and had no idea how most Americans lived.  She was out of touch. Doesn't mean she wouldn't do her best, but she can't relate to normal people and could make mistakes for that. Also very critical of her "super predator" remarks.

He said all the candidates had serious flaws and had a long way to go to prove to him they are worthy of the office.

His response to the Oscar 'snub' was also perfect.

He's the kind of guy who would make a great president.

Black lives matter?  True. But all lives matter.

Blown out of proportion.  Disagrees with his position that rap acts don't belong in the rock hall of fame.  On that I agree with Gene.

I watched the interview you're referring to.

I didn't take issue with anything he said, but honestly I'm surprised you didn't. Especially given his public spat with Gene.

Yeah I hear ya! I think that was all blown out of proportion.
Kaos agrees with Genw that rappers are not rockers.

Except Run DMC and walk this way!

Run dmc yes. Any other rappers no. Just for the sole purpose that run dmc had a place in a prominent rock n roll staple being what it was. On that I agree with kaos and gene.

Curious what you'd think I'd take issue with.

I don't agree with him on some things, but his responses were well thought out and delivered in a sane and rational manner.  I'm not going to agree with any candidate on all topics, but I get the sense that Cube would use common sense and be willing to listen, observe and use the information he has at hand to make decisions that aren't based on some party rhetoric.

Sounds like a good description of Obama in 2008/2009. Serious.

Not even close.  Obama hewed left.  Nothing he said was based in reality or understanding of how things actually worked.

At the time I called him an empty suit stuffed with nothing but hot air (or something akin to that).  He proved me right time after time after time.
