Title: Duke Williams
Post by: Kaos on February 25, 2016, 03:32:12 PM
Oddly enough I'm hoping he ends up with Carolina.  Good player. Needs good mentors and a place he can be just a little crazy on the field.

Would be a talented target for Cam and likely a cheap pickup.

Do you think he was/is better than Darvin?

If I am an NFL Scout: "So, we now know Auburn doesn't pay anymore. Look at the record and the poor RB they rode but never trusted who came out so he can give his mama a home. Now I'm supposed to believe a guy who was getting a free ride and was a star at Auburn and went nuclear on his career is all of a sudden gonna be a grown up when we give him $400,000? Nah, I'll pass."

I know nothing of the guy's personality other than what we know of him leaving Auburn.  You would have to assume he's either had or is in need of an attitude adjustment.  However, I have to think Duke is at least worth a later round pick. I would be willing to take a chance if I had someone on my roster like a Steve Smith, who will jack your ass up and take someone with an attitude and put him in his place.

Plus, I'm sure anyone considering taking him is having a lot of one-on-one time with him to see where his head is at.  Too much of a physical specimen not to at least consider him.

If you hate Duke and he hates you, is that a circle of hate that becomes bromance? Or does the hate circle bring about Armageddon?

His hate of me is systematic of the high cost of Auburn football and one more reason why I couldn't go this past year.

or

He's just like everybody else.  :aubie:

Ten times the prospect. Duke's head is full of broken screws, but the guy is an athletic freak for his size. Can catch anything in his vicinity. Extremely physical.

Just needs some motivation and good leadership.

Jerry Jones will be Trump's Seretary of the Inferior. Likes things big, underachieves.

Duke will catch on. Too much talent. Wants to be paid.

4.72 40 yd dash
14 reps of 225lb bench press
30 inch vertical

Scouts at combine say: Consistent discipline issues at Auburn. Suspended for Outback Bowl after 2014 season, missed practices for "personal reasons" this August and was kicked off of the team in October admitting he "made mistake after mistake" which lead to his dismissal. Stiff hips and below average athlete. Restricted, semi-strider off snap and slow into routes. Won?t slip many tackles in the open field after the catch. Despite his size, blocking not a priority for him. Small hands for his size. Can't shake free underneath and will have to live off of contested catches. Very little acceleration for separation out of breaks. Could be forced into slot role only. Looked like he was going through the motions in 2015 before his dismissal. Scouts don't trust his personal or football character at all

"I can tell you that he burned all of his bridges over there (Auburn). He's a selfish, me-first guy and I don't think he's trustworthy in the locker room at all. He didn't compete at all this year. I wouldn't draft him in any round." -- NFC Director of Personnel

Got-damn.

Did they insult his momma, too?

He had an opportunity to bust his ass and prove his mettle between October and this weekend...and he failed to do so, apparently.  Hate it for him, but it's hard to rehabilitate an image after such a long track record of being a fuck up.

They said they felt sorry for her. Then, Duke shot that old Korean dude before taking the security tape and cash. His boy Caine wishes he'd stop showing people the tape too.

So much for Duke Williams. With his past and behavior issues, I wouldn't be surprised if he's serving a long term sentence within the next few years.

I can only believe that there are mental disabilities in people like him. The guy has the physical talent to become a NFL star and make millions of dollars. All he had to do was try.

If he'd been busting his ass, he wouldn't have run a 4.72 and had 14 reps. Srsly, if I trained for a year I think I could get close to that. No way he should be slower than 4.6, IMO. I guess the 14 reps isn't horrible but he's big enough to have more.

Maybe CFL or somebody picks him up post draft. He screwed himself over and over. I do not feel sorry for him. Just hate he had no one to jerk a knot in his ass, apparently.

He's prolly headed for jail. A great waste indeed. Dude has elite football catching skills.

I don't think Gus ever disliked him. He just ran out of rope. Sometimes a coach tries and only can do so much.

Are we still lynching people?  I thought that practice went out of favor a few years ago.

Gus reportedly consulted with Xavier Dampeer before allowing Duke back.
