Title: Corching Merry-Go-Round
Post by: Snaggletiger on December 03, 2015, 12:48:08 PM
By my count....or the article I just read....the vacancies filled so far are:

UCF
VT
UGA
Hawaii
Illinois
Maryland
Memphis
Minnesota
Toledo
Miami (If Richt has signed)
USC

Still open:

Virginia
Syracuse
South Carolina
Rutgers
North Texas
Missouri
Louisiana Monroe

Any updates on those?  Would Muschamp be a real candidate for any of those?  See, I'm not sold on him being a hot commodity right now.  His last year at UF was shitty and well publicized.  Maybe he is and it's just wishful thinking on my part that he stays. Chizik for any of those?  Could Lashlee be considered for somewhere like ULM or North Texas?  Did I leave the iron on?

A little talk about Muschamp going to South Carolina, but those rumors are thin. Supposedly if he leaves on Sunday, there's no buyout.

He'd be a fool to go to any of those. Maybe Virginia is a decent option. I've never understood why they are so bad all of the time. But South Carolina is a tough place to win especially with Dabo at Clemson. Syracuse, Rutgers, North Texas, and LA Monroe can't pay him enough. Maybe Missouri, but I doubt he'd want to take on that social problem.

Or he could stay at Auburn, make a few million, keep his family near his wife's extended family, and be known as the savior of an SEC defense. We gave up the least amount of touchdowns against SEC opponents since 2007 and that includes the Arkansas overtime game. I think we're on our way to getting our defense back.

He is a real candidate for South Carolina.

And his fuck up wasn't as monumental as perceived.  He did not actually do a bad job at UF.  He needed a QB and as a HC made poor decisions for an OC.  McElwain is a good OC and QB developer, he brought in a Freshman and lit the world on fire, how is he doing without that freshman?

all that being said I don't think he goes anywhere.

Good QB play is a necessity. Muschamp never had one.

And UGA isnt gonna pay him more than 1.5 million. If they do, they are the hypocrites of the world after blasting us last year for doing the same.

Kwerstion. Muschamp was at UF for 4 years. Why does he get a bit of a pass because he didn't have a good QB?  Enquiring minds and Gus Malzahn want to know.

Because he was not labeled as an offensive genius.

Doesn't matter.  He's the head coach.  If he can't evaluate or develop QB's, he's responsible for hiring someone who can.

We were second on Jeff Driskell's list.
And we would have put him out there just like Will and never looked twice at NM.

So would everybody else in the country.  Just as they would have with Jeremy Johnson.  Both top flight recruits.  Both with sick numbers coming out of HS.  The point is, neither developed under their respective coaches and the programs suffered.

For that matter there wasn't much differece in the QB play of the Iron Bowl with the exception of JJ taking 2 nine yard sacks and Coker's 2 successful scrambles, the last resulting in a TD.

Agreed.  The big difference to me was JJ missing some key throws and our lack of pressure on Coker. As you said, the only times we did, the results didn't turn out too skippy for the good guys.

I had a cousin that likes to ride my goober at 80 mph.

To be fair, she was an out of state cousin!

Exactly, and was thus fired.

Not saying he would succeed again just saying that UF didn't have it as bad as they thought.  Like Tubs it's possible if he had gotten the right coordinator in there he would have turned it around.  However, Tubs had success hiring offensive coordinators (minus Franklin)...is Muschamp?

Agreed.  The big difference to me was JJ missing some key throws Melvin Ray and most of the rest of the WR corps dropping passes and our lack of pressure on Coker. As you said, the only times we did, the results didn't turn out too skippy for the good guys.

blaming of WR's

The WR's do deserve some blame.  But JJ missed a shit ton of open receivers in the 2nd half.
