Accepted the USCe job at $4.5M/yr.
Seems high for a guy coming from Houston who hasn't won anything of note, but the schools are going to pay through the nose with this many openings available.

$4.5 million? The Cocks got the shaft.

Good pickup. Got one while the getting was good.

Huh. We could trade them our HC (Gushlee) and Jughead for their AD. No buyout remaining.

It was just an opportunity to make a dick joke.

Yup but as soon as Spurrier retired I was thinking how Columbia would be a nice destination for Gushlee, out of the extreme heat with time on their side.
-
Not seeing anything on the wire about Herman taking this job. And Finebaum was just speculating about where he might land. Houston PTB just approved a raise to $3M trying to keep him.
-
Seems high
ya think....Wesus Christo
Dude is a first year coach making 1.35m currently, is Jacobs helping USCe in the search?

Jacobs would play hard ball and not go a dime over $1.75m. Oh, and pay no attention to that $12m buyout clause.

Depends. Where does the guy go to Church?

Doesn't seem like that long ago that we were laughing at Alabama for paying $4 million for Nick Saban.
EDIT - I'm not seeing this anywhere else. Anyone have a link?

Chad, can I get a remedial class?
Only person I saw announce it on Twatterz was Barrett Sallee. He got it from some random crap twitter account like "Breaking Football News Now!" it appears. I wouldnt trust that dude to report anything.

Today's lesson:
My Louisiana skreets say Miles will be gone by the time they've finished playing their bowl game. Add LSU to the list of schools in front of us in line should we be dumb enough to pull the trigger this year.

ESPN ticker was scrolling something similar last night across the bottom. Said that even before the OM game, he and the PTB were working out a departure.
-
Yeah, Miles is packing his stuff up as I type. He may not even coach in their bowl game.
-
You know, all the talk may be 100% spot on about Miles. He may be gone. But to me, it looks like message board and Finebaum fodder that's done swolt into one of those things that if enough people say it.....
I'm always curious as to how people know these things. If there are actually negotiations going on for a buyout, I imagine that's being done between him, his agent and some people in really high places at LSU. I would also imagine those people are not going to be leaking information of that nature to the Paul Finebaum's of the world.
Like I said, he may be gone. Who knows? But $17 million????? That would make our PTB look like good stewards of the University's $$$$$. Well, maybe that's a stretch. But buying a coach like Miles out for that kind of cash? They done loss day damn minds if they do it. The problem with Miles and his program is simple. He's too damn stubborn to open it up and get away from the ground and pound. He admitted as much in his presser after the OM game. Part of that money would be far better spent hiring a proven OC that knows how to light up the scoreboard and develop a QB. Miles has long since proven he can get the talent in there. They need to tell Miles to run the program but turn the O over to someone that can take it in a different direction.

I tend to agree but it being on ESPN ticker kind of caught my attention. And it wasnt Thamel, Schad or Thayer.

Scott Rabalais wrote an article on Miles coaching for his job in the final two games of the regular season. He's no common rumor-mongerer. He's pretty much the go-to guy for all things LSU.

Unfortunately, a lot of outsiders would say the same about Nom Nom Marshall for Auburn. Like I said, he may be gone but damn, that makes no sense, especially not at that kind of buyout.

LSU isnt exactly known for having an off the charts endowment either. Not a big enough of one, or enough spend happy boosters to blow 15 mill in one swing. UF? ND? Penn State? Sure. LSU? Thats a lot to absorb.

Miles' buyout is supposedly payable over 4 years.
-
and I thought we had stupid decision makers.
-
I don't look so stupid now, huh?
