Title: Bama Thread
Post by: Townhallsavoy on August 31, 2008, 12:24:42 AM
I'm proud of Bama.  They are obviously much improved, and they're going to be tougher this year than they were last year.

HOWEVER.

That game had nothing to do with Bama being dominant.  They aren't world-beaters.  CLEMSON SUCKS.  I've never seen a top ten team more unprepared for a football game.  That includes 2007 Michigan-Appy State.  They ran an incompetent offense (Clemson just ran another screen) that was accompanied by a sissified defense (Bama's 18 year old running back just dragged another defender down the field).  Tommy Bowden deserves to be fired.  There aren't many coaches who truly deserve it, but a team with running backs like Spiller and Davis should not be embarrassed like that.  1 total yard rushing.

If you're an Auburn fan and you live in the state of Alabama, do NOT listen to sports radio this week.

Well, Guys, let's get ready for the off season....I guess.  It's over, uat won the MNC with a record of (14-0) and not because they won all of those games, actually they've only won One game.  But, everyone else they play during the season,  the SEC Championship Game, and the BCS National Championship Game has just forfeited....Oh well, wait until next year.

The fans will be calling for his head, just like they do every year (until the FSU game). God, I'd hate to be a Clemson fan with this jackass running the show. Every year, his team chokes and gives away a win to blow up what should be a great season.

Maybe they should learn how to throw bricks in Clemson.

How do those guys get a total of 8 carries for the game?

I was thinking the same thing, thats got to be Tommy Bowden fault.

I know Kaos is really down on our own offensive performance, but after giving it some more thought, I think Clemson had the worst gameplan in the history of football.

It'd be like 2004 Auburn giving Cadillac and Ronnie the ball twice and then deciding to throw WR screens all day.

It'd be like 2004/2005 USC giving the ball to Reggie Bush three times and then running Lendale White for the rest of the game.

Clemson told the meat and potatoes, the thunder and lightning, that they weren't part of the gameplan.

Now that the shock has settled, Bama has by no means proven anything.  LSU, Florida, Georgia - none of those teams last season dominated top ten teams like Bama did last night.  I'm sorry, but I'm not going to drink any Kool-Aid.  Bama did nothing more than schedule the perfect opponent to open the season.

According to most here we were going to get our asses handed to us by #9 team in the nation.

Maybe you guys are right,Clemson sucks and we did nothing really.    :taunt:

Do you really think that was how Clemson will play the remainder of the season? I don't. Bama caught them at the right time. CTB is known for choking one or two away each season. You guys got one of them, Congrats on the win.

The ACC, as a whole, is pathetic.  Their other preseason favorite, Va Tech, got theirs at the hands of a Conference USA team.  Wake Forest looks to be the class of the ACC this young season.

Clemson has talent.  But their coaching staff is amongst the worst in the country.  By puling their little publicity/recruitng stunt, Bowden pulled the equivalent of Larry David letting Wayne Knight have all the good lines over Jerry and Jason Alexander.

It's too early to tell what this all really means.  Perhaps Clemson really is a good team and were outmatched by a superior Alabama team.  Hell, Michigan recovered last year after getting beat at home by a team from the mighty Southside Conference (I think that what it's called, not really sure because I really don't get a shit.)  Maybe they will follow up this loss with many more this fall.  Only time will tell.

So gloat, Mr. Alabama Fan.  It's what you do best.

Crimson glasses aside, did you really expect this outcome? I don't think any sane football fan did. I expected a somewhat close game and, had Bowden not strayed from running the ball, it would have been closer. Not saying Clemson would have pulled out the win, but I don't think they would have been embarrassed as they were.

Bowden is without a doubt, THE worst gameday coach in football.

Hey, we're Auburn fans. You really don't expect us to revel in your success, do you? I don't consider it backtracking at all. Practically no one, NO ONE, picked bammer to win this game. Your boys pulled it off. Again, congrats on the win. We (the orange and blue crowd) still see this as an anomaly more than anything else. Tell me; with this win, is bammer back for real? I mean, gosh-darnnit, we've heard it so many times over the past 6-7 years that we;ve kind of tuned all the clamor out. Remember this, we are where you want to be. You keep trying to get to our level. You're not there, yet. Let's not get to carried away, aiight?

FWIT, I'm picking Tulane in the upset this weekend. How you like dem apples?

Now, go fist yourself.....and Wholio.....and Saban. In that order. While you're at it, throw in the stock manager at the Pell City Walmart for good measure.

I am saying this as objective and devoid of smack as possible, but overrated is an understatement when describing Julio Jones. When you're a 6'3 receiver in high school and tower over the other kids, you're going to be pretty dominant. Unless of course you play a good team like my alma mater Prattville

And so it begins. Overheard from the cube across from me:

Bammer 1:
"Yeah, we just looked unbeatable. You can really tell that Saban took the reigns and made the difference. I would be shocked if we don't go undefeated this year after that performance. We just have to look like that against LSU...Florida...Georgia..."

Bammer 2:
"Auburn..."

Bammer 1:
"Psh, that's a given. Auburn had their time in the sun. That was a blip on the radar. They're done. They won't win 10 games in a season probably ever again."

Wake looked like pretty damn good against Baylor.
I think it will be between BC and Clemson in the Atlantic Division. Clemson will come back and win at least 8 ballgames.

In the Coastal Division, I'll take Georgia Tech with North Carolina giving them strong competition.
