Was looking for an old file and ran across something that seemed relevant today.
Was on the field for the 2006 Auburn-LSU game. At the time (and until I was on the field for Georgia in 2013) it was probably the loudest I've ever heard. Auburn won 7-3 against Jamarcus Russell. I think both teams were in the top ten. LSU had the ball last, starting from their own 20 with like just a minute left. We knocked their guy out of bounds on what I think I remember was the very last play of the game inside the AU 10. Seems like there was a pass interference that wasn't called that they whined about for five or six years, too.
Remains one of the hardest hitting games I've ever seen (pro included). The AU defense knocked the dog shit out of them. They knocked the dog shit out of AU. We put together an 80 yard drive in the third for the only score. Until that last minute thing I don't think LSU had but one series that went more than five or six plays. Defense on both sides was getting the fuck after it. It was so brutally physical it made me hurt.
When the game was over it was like all the air got sucked out of the stadium at once. I thought my heart was going to explode. And then the roar started. Fans, players, coaches... it was indescribable.
Relevance? I was scrolling through the pictures and noticed players tackling an Auburn coach in the celebration that followed. The coach they were mobbing? Will Muschamp.
We ever hit people like that again while we have the offensive firepower we have now? Fuck a mighty, son.
That was also the game where I saw Scott Van Pelt wearing an Auburn hat.

If I was an LSU fan, I'd half whined about the lack of PI call too. But if memory serves, and I'm old, the SEC office or the refs or somebody issued a statement that the call was correct because the ball got tipped just before the LSU receiver got nailed.

I was at that game, very preggers with the boy child. My seat was across the aisle from the LSU Band drum line. My amniotic fluid was vibrating the entire time and I nearly passed out from the heat and the stress the sheer excitement when that flag was overturned.
That game was in September, on the Corndog's birthday, and I think that's the game where Daniel Cobb had that deep thigh bruise that was still there on Halloween. When he went down and his legs weren't moving, I remember thinking he had broken his back.

Brandon Cox?
I think Cobb was much earlier than 2006. I could be mistaken.

Great end to a bad week for me. Had tickets I didn't use. Hurricane Ivan just flushed all but clothes I could stuff in car off Pensacola Beach. Watched game on 2 battery operated tvs. We won. I wept.

Well, no wonder he got injured. Trying to come back at 30, overweight and play against top rated LSU as a 9th year Sr.

I was there. Hardest hitting game I can ever recall. I think we lost the next week IIRC, due to hangover from this violent slugfest?

I'll take "Things said most often in Auburn" for $400 Alex.

I thought it was a distant 3rd to "Where the fuck is Neiko looking???" and "Oh my GAWDDD why is Jake Holland still in the game? Fuck this shit!!!!!"

Can't wait to see what 4 and 5 are.
"Tally just scored again" and "Pat Dye and Lowder are pulling all the strings" are my guesses.

How many times did Auburn sign Enrique Davis?

Brandon Cox?

Yes. Pregnancy hormones make you forgetful.
And this is probably wrong too, but I think we did lose the next weekend, like someone said, maybe to Arkansas, because that was indeed the most physically violent college game I have ever seen in person. I think LSU might have lost the next week too. You could hear the hits from anywhere in the stands. The score shows it was obviously a defensive slugfest. It was just brutal. Add in the horrific heat and holy shit. I remember walking back to the old tailgate at the pink dumpster post game and being absolutely exhausted. We won, and the crowd was still silent walking out.

Agree with the "Talley just scored again" but think the other is "If Tuberville had an offense we would be unstoppable".

After the LSU win, Auburn beat Buffalo and South Carolina before losing to Arky at JH.
