Title: Nick Marshall's QB Days are Over
Post by: Townhallsavoy on January 20, 2015, 11:39:29 AM
Quote
@AUBlog: Spoke to Auburn's Nick Marshall about his decision to move to cornerback. I'll have more in a little bit. Said it was a family decision.

Smart decision.  I have a feeling he's going to put up some killer numbers at the combine.  Get drafted somewhere in the 5th-7th rounds.

Kinda sad though.

Honestly, my biggest beef with him as an NFL QB would have been his size and decision making. He has the arm strength. Good luck to the man.

Not sad at all to me.

Think about how many great college QBs there have been - some that really look the part of an NFL QB - that fizzle out.  Marshall made a lot of big plays, but I never once thought he looked the part of a drop, read, throw kind of quarterback.

He reminds me of Tim Tebow except Tebow was too haughty to make the switch.  Some NFL analysts were saying Tebow had the skill set to be an all pro tight end.  Instead he took his shitty throwing motion to Denver and had a short career before using his Christianity popularity to go on TV.

WOTS. Actually his words 2 weeks ago when I ran into him at Publix next to Andrews Inst. He was here to work on agility and different foot work. Also got to give Sammie Coates a War Eagle Sunday night. Damn he's a big dude and his girlfriend is freaking hot.

Nick is actually fired up about this and he's not trying to conceal anything or blow smoke regarding the change. He has an opportunity to showcase his skills. He has proven time and again that he can take a hit. Now, he just has to deliver the blow.

No doubt. He'll roll up in the combine listening to some Tom Petty, get out and smoke the competition.

I think it's a good mover for Nick too.  Debatable, IMHO, as to whether Tebow would have made a great TE.  I don't think he's the type athlete Gronkowski is for instance.

Well, it is his last dance.  Hopefully the move will spice up his chances to be drafted around pick 420 or so.

I think his agent just had to be blunt and tell him the NFL will quickly weed out the pretenders.

I read that Nick and Jonothan Mincy are rooming together at the combine.

Hopefully he won't listen to a thing his rommie tells him.

I always thought he could have been a Jason Witten type.  Witten is by no means fast, but he's strong and smart.

If Tebow could run like Nick O'Leary at FSU he might better his chances as a TE.

If Nick Marshall could tackle like Jack Lambert of the Pittsburgh Steelers, it might better his chances at middle LB.

But, on the other hand, if Nick O'Leary could jump and dribble like Lebron James, there could be a legitimate shot at his getting drafted into the NBA.

If Lebron would work at learning how to ride a horse like Gary Stevens or Pat Day, he may be able to become a jockey. If he has 4-5 feet of his legs removed, of course.

If my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle.

As I said, JMHO, not sure Tebow was the type athlete that makes a great TE today.

SENIOR BOWL UPDATE

Talked to a friend of mine who used to be a HS coach and was there for some of the practices.  He's a bama bobo honker from way way back.  Even he said Blake Sims looked like frosted marmoset shit out there.  "Fucking awful, just fucking terrible" was what he say.

He just said that cause he knows Blake lost that game for them and by perpetuating that myth he knows the SPUAT will not have another black quarterback for 15-20 years.
