Title: West Coast Travel Suggestions
Post by: Catphish Tilly on January 14, 2015, 03:20:35 PM
I'm leaving Friday for 5 days in San Fran. Any suggestions as to "can't miss" attractions while visiting the West Coast for the first time?

As WT often points out - there are numerous homosexuals on this board who probably have a plethora of fabulous suggestions but I'd prefer recommendations that don't involve the Castro District.

So seriously, I already plan to visit Alcatraz, Wine Country, Muir Woods and trip over homeless people. Got any other breweries/bars/restaurants or other must sees?

Peju Winery is a must
Rent a convertible or jeep and drive down pacific coast highway to Monterey.

Other than that I forget.

If you're going to San Fran, I'd suggest checking in on teh gays.  That's where I hear they are.

Other than that I enjoyed getting butt fucked by lots of other dudes driving convertibles.

if you got the time...drive up the coast past Eureka for the Redwoods.

Also don't forget to try the anal sex and get some marijuana for your glaucoma.

Chizad may still answer your PM. I think he's more of a traveler than most of the gays on here. I like wine, so I envision making this trip at some point.

Don't look directly in her eyes.

Based on your response so far, I've been able to add to my list: Gays, anal, teabags, weed and an oyster bar... which may or may not be gay as well. I'll have to Yelp that one.

Fantastic suggestions all.

Edit: I felt any suggestion with the word "wood" in it was likely already covered by someone else but the Redwoods check out after all. Added to the list.

It is. I'll actually be touring it Friday afternoon. Aside from the Redwoods in Muir Woods National Monument, that is probably one of the sights I most look forward to. That and the gays of course.

Might I suggest getting arrested there. I am sure you could see jail and the gay up close.

Maybe it is like opposite world, and the jails there are full of straights.  Ever thought of that?

If you do head north on 1 ...and I couldn't think of the brewery in Eureka but the skirt just reminded me of the name:  Lost Coast Brewery.

Also, you can drive south a bit and watch the pros surf the Mavericks.

Seeing the seals on the rocks in La Jolla is neat, so drive the PCH along the coast. Also, depending on how far away from San Fran you want to go, I recommend drinking a glass of champagne in the clubhouse at Pebble Beach. You can sit and watch the golfers come in off the 18th. Gorgeous golf course.

There's also that crazy crooked street you have to drive down. That's a requirement I think.

I would advise that you not drop the brown acid. But it's your trip, man.

The woman is running a half marathon on 5/3 in Vancouver.

You know, I'm pretty sure they hold some of those races a little closer to the ATL.  But, you do have a Marine buddy up there and all that, so....

You should do a pub crawl while she's running the Marathon, to show support and all.

That's the plan.

Snaggle she is working up to do one more full one that is going to be here in Atlanta in the Fall so this was a good excuse to go to Vancouver and spend some time out in the PNW

I hate I'm late on this thread, but if you have the chance to swing down to Big Sur, do it.  Most beautiful place I've ever been.
