Michael Sam cut, not claimed on waivers, and then left off the practice squad. I guess the kiss seen around the world was not so smart a move after all

Its all good, Canadians are cool with that sort of thing...

That sucks. Sam was a great teammate and always behind his guys. I think he'll get picked up. Probably by Hump Day.
-
Apparently, Sam couldn't take the pounding that NFL players had to offer. I hope he doesn't get down on his knees for the CFL to take him. They should open up to him and let him enter without a struggle.
-
That's too bad. I guess if he doesn't make it on the DL somewhere, Tight End is out of the question. Maybe Wide Receiver would suit his skill set.
-
I had high hopes for him. Actually, I fantasized about him switching to the OL and consistantly opening a gaping hole for Tre Mason. I really wanted to watch Mason ride him all the way to the Super Bowl. Oh well.
-
Sam's problem was whenever he was struggling with a tight end, he could never reach around and get to the quarterback. So, he just wound up sucking.
-
Some of you homophobes are obviously trying to be funny but bending Sam over the way the NFL has is not a joking matter. Maybe it is like trying to put a square peg into a round hole but he has a right to receive the same push from behind as other players. And no one seems to be behind him. I say we get behind him now! Who's first?
-
I wonder what kind of job he would get if he had to work a regular job?
Shipping or Receiving.
-
I've heard the Packers are giving him a long hard look

Depends on how hard he works it. If he is aggressive and gets after it, he can probably come a long way. If he is slow and passive, it'll probably be a hard nut to crack for him.
-
The 49ers or the Chargers should pick him up...you know them Californians love their gays.

I knew it was just a matter of time before someone referenced Sam being gay. What does that have to do with anything, really?

Not anything really unless he's gonna be a split end.

In all seriousness, this will most likely end the coming out party for homosexuals who play college football.
Every SEC defensive player of the year since 2008 has been selected in the 1st round of the NFL draft. Sam was picked up late in the 7th.
Michael Sam had 3 sacks in the preseason, which placed him #4 in most sacks in the NFL. 11 other players had at least 2.5 sacks. 10 of them made a roster. 1 made a practice squad. Sam with 3 is sitting at home not even worthy of holding the bag at practice.
49 players had at least two sacks. 38 are now on active rosters. Five are on practice squads. Six are without jobs, and those six have been in the NFL for at least three years whereas Sam is entering his rookie season.
Perhaps there were reasons behind closed doors besides his sexual orientation that has scared off teams from signing him. Maybe he's an asshole. Maybe he's disrespectful to the coaches. But I seriously doubt any draft prospect who actually wants to play in the NFL will ever come out before the draft again.

Or, maybe most teams in the NFL run a 3-4 and not a 4-3, which is what he is best suited for. And his number of sacks, although important, is far from the end all measurable of his performance. He may not suck as much as people think, you are right about that part.

Listening to ex Niner Randy Cross this morning who stated that Fisher and the Rams have two that can play that position and that Sam is an NFL talent only he doesn't play special teams which hurts his chances. Also said there are about 6 NFL teams that run a similar front and it is quite possible Sam could catch on with one of them. Still, it's not unusual for a seventh rounder to get bypassed or cut, especially one who performed poorly at the Senior Bowl and Combine. LSS, if one of those teams need his talents they will pick him up.

Look. It may just be a matter of effort. If he wants to make it he has to be balls out. The NFL is a long hard grind. Was he really willing to come and come hard on every play? Did he bring the wood? When he got down did he explode through the box? Did he put his ass on the line?
If he wanted to make the team he had to push his way through a lot of shit. Get his dick knocked in the dirt.
Who really knows how eager he was to take that load?

I hereby proclaim you the winner of this thread.

One thing is apparent though, Sam must be the "male" in the relationship since he is has done so well at defensive end and so rarely blocked from getting sacks.

You left out the practice squad part. Huge difference in that and a 53 man roster.

Maybe Sam can get the bad taste in his mouth out by going to a new city.
-
How will he fare as a cowpoke? Will he be tight? Loose? Is he going to lay down or reach deep inside and pull out that throbbing passion for the game?
He has a chance now. Just needs to mount up. Strap it on. Ride it as hard as he can. Open up the star that's inside him and let the game flow through. If he proves he can take an ass chewing when he can't perform as well as he takes the ass kissing he gets for doing well his teammates will respect his rock solid convictions. But if he acts like a jerkoff he won't make it to the end.
There are lots of guys pulling for him.

Headline in sports section:
COWBOYS SUCK...
Blah................. ....... aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.................h...
...btw: Sam added to practice squad.
Sam only signed to taxi squad...then we are told he will wear #46 as if a number somehow adds something to what should be a footnote in the remarks about the Cowboys.

On any other team most of the cowboy players would be on the practice squad. Jerry is cutting players to save money, Just watch towards the end of the year when the team is 3-6 and that stadium is half empty because nobody is going to spend that kind of money it cost to go watch them.

Comment was more in re to the fact that he still hasn't made a roster yet but it doesn't stop the 24/7 gushing by certain media outlets.
But yes, commence jokes.
