The Seminoles got 57 of a possible 60 first place votes in the preseason poll released Sunday afternoon. The only other teams receiving votes were No. 2 Alabama, No. 3 Oregon and No. 4 Oklahoma, who each received a vote apiece. Ohio State was No. 5.
Auburn was No. 5 in the Coaches Poll. The Tigers are No. 6 in the AP Poll.
WTF? 13 seconds from winning it, bulk of the team coming back, and dropped to 6?
Alabama gets worked by the final two opponents, loses a bulk of that team and they are #2?
Meanwhile Ohio State gets punked in two final games, ranked ahead?
Oklahoma has one, ONE, quality win in a bowl game and they are #3?

But when the judges of the race (the College Football Playoff Committee) use the "eye test" for teams, not being on the radar could be an issue. In Auburn's case, it works itself out due to playing a great schedule. But Michigan State should be pissed. Racked Ohio State's nutsack then won a Rose Bowl. Awarded with #8 ranking.

There are 6 games to where I can get 3 losses from on their scheddy. GF and Dallas have pretty much covered them combined.

The mad QB scramble lends credence to this. I don't know if choosing a scapegoat was the primary reason for the Kiffin hire but it will sure be easier to explain away a 3 loss season with a high profile hire vs. hiring a good no name from the Mac or somewhere.

The one I take issue with is Florida. That offense is an abortion, fellas, and David Cutcliffe's understudy ain't gonna change that in one off-season.

Exactly the reason I think they win. Everyone is going to be down on the Gatah this year.
However they do have a QB, albeit a questionable one, that can win for them (see 2012) in Driskal. I think their defense is going to be pretty nasty. I look for it to be low scoring, with the advantage going to the more senior QB Driskal.
and we as Auburn fans know what a difference a change in coordinator can do within a year. (good and bad).
Aside: I think UF is the Dark Horse to win the East. Muschamp knows he is coaching for his job, I think anything less than 9 wins he is gone.

Driskel is the only thing holding me back from saying the same exact thing. They have some serious skill on D, mainly Hargreaves. Not sure how serious his injury is from last week. Their D will be solid though.
And if Worley can stay healthy, Tenn may be halfway respectable. They should have beaten UGA. And did beat SC last year. I think Jones is a good coach.

Consensus from the bama boys is they goat rape WVU. Hang 50+ on them. They're going to score 40+ per game this season. Easy.
No human can stop that caveman they have running the ball, didn't you know that? If he'd played every game last year they would have averaged 600 yards rushing a game. The only way he'd ever even get slowed down is if he was tired -- and he would be tired because no offense would be able to run more than three plays in succession against that defense. So he'd be on the field running 80 yards at a time pretty regularly. He's better than Bo/Herschel/Emmitt/Barry/Adrian/Eric/OJ combined.

Won 10 games and shallacked Baylor, Miss State and Texas all pretty bad. Lost a pretty close one to Oklahoma. Gundy overshoots with his talent. Guy is a great coach.

Baylor is going to be the team that fucks up the works without having a conf. championship game and unless Jimbo pulls a Dabo they shouldn't be challenged so that leaves two spots for the other three possible to fight over and if we are to be a finalist we have to do better than surrendering over 22per along with the choice second half collapses. We thrashed all of the cupcakes and I think won the money in every game.

Not really. But maybe their QB could get charged with rape and caught stealing crab legs. That would surely shake things up down there.

not saying they beat Okl State...but that is just one coach I wouldn't bet against. Dude has been on the end of some of the weirdest and wildest upsets in recent memory. Some good (Baylor, Okl)...some embarassing (Iowa State).
