Aaand that's why I didn't give a fuck that Direct TV wasn't carrying it...because, I couldn't care less what the "experts" say.

At&t and Direct TV are at least partnering in order to extend their coverage area. The catch is a two year commitment that balloons in year two.

from DTV: When I asked about the SEC network.

We’re in the middle of productive discussions with Disney over ESPN’s new SEC Network and hope to be able to provide it as soon as we possibly can. Both DIRECTV and Disney understand and appreciate the unique bond between SEC teams and the communities they represent, many of which lack any professional teams. We are working cooperatively to ensure that everyone can still see their favorite SEC team play at the most reasonable value to all SEC fans and the rest of our customers throughout the Southeast.

For more information please visit directvpromise.com.

Sincerely,
DIRECTV Customer Care

I called and complained.  Wasn't going to change but asked them to give me reasons to stay.

I got some free movies, some added channels and a reduction in the monthly rate for a good amount of time.

I gotta have it. I think I'm Direct now. Hated Comcast but I will have to see what other options I have. ATT guy told me I was a mile out of U-verse area, so I need to scramble.

With my luck, I pay twice what I pay now and it ends up being a 24/7 Bama network. Like ESPN in football season.

ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN Deportes, ESPNEWS, ESPN Classic, ESPN3 - that's seven. SEC Network is eight. We did it, ESPN Ocho is a real thing.

I will be referring to it as "The Ocho" from this point forward.

Although I have Dish, I had At&t serviceman replace my modem for uverse and he said that they have a working relationship with Direct TV but they don't work on one another's equipment. Had Direct TV two years ago and without warning the fuckers reduced the selections by 20% or so and billed me as normal.

Did it July 29.

Worked so well I did it with sirius, August 1. My "trial subscription" that came with my new car had expired. They turned off my service so I called to get it reinstated. Got some Russian chick who told me it was "One ninah nine" for the year. After a few moments of debate during which I was a real smart ass I told her they she clearly didn't have the authority to solve my problem so get me to a supervisor. I got Mufasa. His name was Mufasa.

I told him I enjoyed satellite radio and was willing to pay $49 for the year. He countered with $139. We finally agreed on $59. I just kept telling him no to every offer. And he made a number of them that reduced the number of channels or shortened the term. No. All channels, one year $49. 50. No more than $55. Ok if you can agree to 59 we have a deal.

Took me 30 minutes but saved me $140.

Now about this $400 power bill.....

I got like 3 months of Showtime, all Sports channels, including NFL Red Zone, etc. for free.

I did this because, hey, free shit. But I'm 99.9% positive they will have SEC network at launch.

Nope.

Part of the Choice tier in all SEC states, which is the third of six tiers. I think it's the same tier that ESPNU first appears on.

Yeah, it's the tier that introduces ESPNU, NFL Network, MLB Network, AMC, Fox Sports, Fuse, IFC, Travel Channel, Weather Channel, etc. so if you currently get those, you'll get SEC Network, assuming you're in one of the 11 states with an SEC school in its borders.
