You'll just have to vote for Jimmy Graham to prevent this from happening, then.

Rivera votes for Richard Sherman

Panthers quarterback Cam Newton won't have the help of his head coach when it comes to winning the "Madden NFL 15" cover vote.

Ron Rivera would rather vote for Richard Sherman to be on the "Madden" cover than watch his team suffer from the dreaded jinx if Cam Newton won.
Fourth-year Carolina coach Ron Rivera said Wednesday he voted for "the opposition'' -- Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman -- multiple times over the past few days.

"I'm trying to avoid the jinx,'' Rivera said with a smile.

Being on the cover of the video game hasn't been kind to many of those who have graced it. There's a solid history of the player selected either getting hurt, seeing a noticeable decrease in production, or his team having a bad season.

Whew...hopefully Madden won't do another split cover.

For those thinking the jinx isn't real.

Yup, iirc, he got hurt in the 1st qtr and played through the pain. Thank God for synthetic pot head Michael Dyer & Badass Fairley.

I would say the Grad Asst/coach on the sideline who told him to keep running had a big hand in the game.
