Post by: The Six on May 15, 2014, 10:20:27 AM
Anybody else jazzed to see Heisenberg and Kick Ass take on the monster from Japan?

Looks a lot better than the Matthew Broderick abortion in the late 90s.

That video never ever ever gets old.

It truly doesn't......It's almost as good as watching the last second of the Iron Bowl.

Definitely stoked about this Godzeera.

I got a faint feeling the people of Japan are getting tired of him coming around every so often.

Saw it last night. The action and monsters looked great. Human characters were a little thin, dialogue was not that great, but let's face it, I was there for the monsters and the third act delivered on that in a big way.

Not the greatest thing in the history of ever, but fun and entertaining nonetheless.

Getting pretty bad reviews.  This disappoints me.

Getting pretty bad reviews.

That is a good sign in my book.

Well, to be fair, I don't read critics' reviews.  The ones I'm talking about are people whose opinions on art I respect.  YMMV.

Well the first fucking problem here is that people are thinking it's art.

It's entertainment.  Like the Tijuana donkey show.

I haven't seen it yet but I'm sure you would have a lot of respect for my artistic taste. I have a lot of Elvis stuff on display and a couple of vintage Budweiser signs. Maybe you could come over some time and we could hang out?

Who are your go-to reviewers?

Rotten Tomatoes has it at 77% fresh.  I usually use their conglomerate.

Similar slightly-favorable rating from No Fucking Tomatoes........
Godzilla
Don't waste them money on 3d. But give this movie a shot.

It didn't do anything I expected it to.  It was a good 40 minutes too long. It invested too much in throwaway characters. It had some enormous plot holes.  (For instance where does your uniform come from when you are hundreds of miles from where you are supposed to be and didn't have it with you to begin with?) There are some bizarre contrivances. (For instance, if you can just fly the warheads in a damn sling why bother with a train?)

But overall? It worked. Truer to the original than the ferris buehler one even though some aspects were similar.

I liked it. Broke no new ground. Made superman, zod, transformers and the avengers jealous of its total destruction.  But was what it was and good for that.

It's just a women getting fucked by a donkey. To be honest we all felt bad for her...kind of felt bad for the donkey too.
