Title: Dumpster Fire in Carolina
Post by: Kaos on March 18, 2014, 10:50:44 PM
I feel bad for Cam.

Steve Smith and his 216 catches over the last three years: GONE
Brandon Lafell and his 139 catches over the last three years: GONE

That's roughly half Cam's 882 completions over the previous three seasons.

Tedd Ginn and his 36 catches in 2013: GONE
Domenik Hixon and his 7 catches in 2013: GONE

Receivers who have caught a pass in an NFL game remaining on the roster: ONE.

Some guy I 've never heard of who caught two total passes in his career a year ago and sat out last season with an injury.

He's got a couple of tight ends that have caught passes and a few RBs.

Carolina's running game without Cam: 26th in the NFL with 1441 total yards from Tolbert, Stewart, Williams and Barner.

Offensive Coordinator Mike Shula: STILL THERE
Worst OC in the NFL

If you thought the Panthers were punchless last season with Shula's caveman shot-calling just wait until Cam is out there by himself with no other weapons and a depleted offensive line. And Shula still calling the stats.

If the Panthers had even a flicker of a pulse other than Newton throwing to Smith, they could easily have won the Super Bowl last season.  Just one more weapon. A decent RB, another WR target, anything... And now it's a raging dumpster inferno.

It's going to be ugly for Cam I'm afraid.  And the blame will fall on him, not on the morons who make the Carolina decisions.  I don't want him to play anywhere else.  I like the Panthers and would be sick if he played for teams like Atlanta, Philly, New Orleans, Jacksonville, Minnesota, New York, Arizona or pretty much any other team in the league except maybe the Broncos. But they've got to get him some weapons to work with and team management is firing total free agent blanks so far. Sad.

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton will undergo ankle surgery Wednesday to repair an issue that has lingered since the end of the season.

Cam Newton's surgery is the latest blow in what's turning out to be a disastrous offseason for the Panthers.

The surgery will be performed by team physician Robert Anderson, and the recovery is expected to take four months, which means Newton will be back in time for training camp in late July.

Team officials said Newton is expected to miss time in minicamps in late May and June.

No reason to throw if there is nobody to catch it.

No reason to throw if there is nobody to catch it.

So what's McCarron's excuse?
