Our local kitty litter liner listed all the signees for AU/UA/Troy. Of note for the Trojans was out of the 19 new players coming in.....12 of them are JUCO. I get signing JUCO guys and have no problem with having 5-6 like we had in our class this time, especially if they can fill an immediate need. But I've never seen 12/19ths or 64.8% of your class made up of JUCO players. Of course, I don't pay attention to the recruiting classes for the La. Monroe's and North Texas' of the world. Is that the norm for schools that size?
I know Troy had a good run recently and won their conference like 3 years in a row. But the past few years have been less than stellar and they've been awful defensively. Some rumors about Blakeney on the way out. Is this a move to win now at all costs?

I think UAB may have had 14 JUCO guys sign.

To me, a miss on a JUCO is more costly. We need immediate impact from them. That's the reason to go JUCO. Hopefully, you're getting a more experienced player who fills a need (I.e Cam, Nick and Nick) but misses seem like a waste because you don't have time to turn them into contributors (ie Kenny Flowers?) and maybe a scholly to a HS kid would have been a better investment. It seems that 3rd yr in a system makes a big difference pretty often.

I guess Larry feels an immediate need at a lot of places, but it's a desperate move. With that many JUCOs he's creating another gap in talent to fill in just 2 years. That said, many programs like Troy and UAB generally carry a larger number of JUCOs/transfers from bigger D1 schools than the bigger name institutions. I guess Larry has been doing it at Troy long enough to know the deal.

I believe Tennessee just signed 14 JUCO's....Prowler?

Troy has always been able to half ass compete with D1 prospects transferring in to the school without having to sit out. They can't do that shit any more...

Yep. I wonder if the move to D1A from 1-AA (and I know they changed the names but I refuse to use it) was truly the best move for Troy financially or otherwise. What do you think?
It seems to me that being a dominant force in 1AA was a good recruiting tool. But, I assume that less 1A schools are playing fewer 1AA schools today--since it hurts their SOS. So, that would mean less big paychecks from the UM, FSU, Nebraskas, etc. They aren't gonna pay Troy to come in and play them as a 1aa school. They have too much to lose. Ask Michigan.

What were the other 10 early enrollees they had. Seniors that had graduated?

2014 Thursday night opponent Kansas State regularly loads up on JUCOs including nine in this recent class.
