Recruiting promises not met? The only thing that went wrong with Alan Evans' recruitment was the coaches believed the hype. Yep, he was a stud high school running back but grossly overmatched at the D1 level. It happens. Ask Kazidil Frayzha. Obviously, Bo was a once in a lifetime athlete but there were other running backs who did okay for themselves alongside him in the backfield. Lionel James and Brent Fullwood come to mind.

Sour grapes taste good though. It's easier to sit back and tell everybody that you'd been just as good as Bo if only the coaches hadn't lied to you about him and given you a chance.

It has been no secret that Therezie is needed a CB. Garret was supposed to have been awesome, but hurt. And look at how good Therezie did at that position. If Garret was better, whoa nellie. So for Evans to come in and work at the Star position, he really would have a chance to play A LOT and even start if Garret cannot hold up.
So this probably would be his best chance to get on the filed early at a position he could get a lot of exposure at.
Anywhere else he would be an LB and have to work his way into that role with a lot more wear and tear on his body.
AU is his best bet.

I really wonder what the hype would be like if Bo were being recruited today. Not the old, bionic hip, broken down Bo. The young, studly, super-human Bo. I was at Auburn with him and recall his commitment. I was thinking, "Oh this guy looks good. Huge running back." But there were no recruiting services back then and until he committed, I doubt most people had ever heard much about him. I know there wasn't much buzz about him until he suited up and stepped on the field. Then.... :jaw:

According to the ESPN 30 thing it sounded like nobody really knew what they were getting except for the kid was a fantastic athlete. Supposedly since he was playing defense, punting, and kicking he was only getting around 19 carries a game in high school so nobody knew exactly how great he was going to be. I don't think he was recruited to the same level as Herschel Walker who, from what I have read, was considered the biggest can't miss recruit of all time.

Well apparently they had never heard of him in Enterprise.

We could likely see McKenzie move to the middle backer to share time with Frost. Not so sure Therezie could out perform either Davis or Mincy at CB and if so Whitehead would likely have been moved to Star hybrid.
All incoming DB types get a shot at corner before moving to safety or taking their place on the depth chart.
Therezie earned his spot so we are left with potentially open spots at the WLB, boundary corner and field safety.
And hopefully Holsey and Garrett can make it back.

Uh. Therezie would definitely be able to perform as well as Mincy. Maybe even Davis. Mincy was hanging on by a thread all season long.

I hope you're right however I still believe Therezie would have manned one of those corners if he were better suited, especially as thin as the position was. We can stir up a strong safety but coverage demands far more skill closer related to those of a weak safety than a hybrid LB.

No position was thinner than LB

Yes we had a deficit there as well.

Now, we're stronger by subtraction

Now, we're stronger by subtraction
We had problems at both spots and at weak safety.

Well, it is called weak.

I was told there would be no math.

Doesn't this one belong in the "Once in a Generation Talent" thread?
