On the surface and to a writer that AU fans detest, yes it looks that way. But nobody can say that AU's defense has been that stellar at stopping opponents all year. We outscored and got the breaks needed to win. And we did not make mistakes on special teams. FSU had a better night on special teams. It is a vital part of the game and AU made their mistakes there. But ole Scarb never gets it. As AU fans, we are ecstatic. We were never even supposed to be there. We were 10.5 point under dogs. Does it hurt to lose? Of course. But it does not diminish the season in the eyes of us fans. After the 7th win of the season, we were playing with house money. Overall this is a huge WIN season for AU. And hopefully it will be the beginning of a solid team for years to come. So ole Scarb can just go back to writing about whatever insignificant team he has been assigned to now and leave the big boy writing to others.

Some basic truth in it but mostly hyperbole.

Even when he was our beat writer, he presented everything in a negative manner.

He likes to sell papers. He's like the rest of them. He's given us some positive articles too. I don't disagree that we should've won it. We blew it. It happens.
But, like you mention, I'm very happy with this season. Our guys played till the end of every single game. Never gave up. And, we got lucky to be there.
With this staff, I think we have a good shot of getting there again.

I disagree. Auburn did blow it. Auburn should have won that game but let it slip away.
This line:
Simply put, Auburn dropped the crystal football and shattered its dream season.
is the only thing I really disagree with. Not winning didn't shatter this season. Not even close. I am dissappointed in the way the season ended, but that is only because we were so close. It take a lot of luck and fortune to get to that game...especially from the SEC. Hell, look at Alabama. They have won 3 and were supposed to win their 4th, and backed in to two of those. Twice Alabama played for the championship by having other teams lose. Hell, once they didn't even win their division.
Auburn could very well be back in the near future, but it just take some good fortune to do it no matter how good of a team you have. That is what makes this game so disappointing...

what this guy ^^ said....all of it.
we lost it more than they won it. yes we did better than anyone imagined but we still blew it.

We were all FSU could handle for about forty minutes. That third quarter gave them the hope they needed because we botched the early drives in that quarter when we all thought we could have finished them. Sure it hurts to lose but I'm feeling pretty good about our team's future.
