AUBURN, Alabama -- Few schools like paying fines, but Auburn will likely have no trouble writing a check for the fine the SEC handed down on Friday afternoon.
The SEC announced that Auburn will be fined $5,000 for the crowd at Jordan-Hare Stadium rushing Pat Dye Field after the ending to the biggest Iron Bowl in history, an expected move given the SEC's rules about fans coming onto the playing surface.
The league's access to competition area policy, which limits access to student-athletes, coaches, officials, support personnel and credentialed individuals, went into effect in December of 2004.
"These were some of the most exciting and intriguing games of the college football season," SEC commissioner Mike Slive said in a release. "We understand the exuberance of our fans in the celebration of their schools’ victories, but these incidents pose a significant risk of injury and we must always make the health and safety of our student-athletes and fans the top priority."

I promise you, had I been able to look into a crystal ball and seen what would happen that night, I'd have gladly put up the $5K.
Not that it would be any big deal, because if I had a crystal ball and could see into the future, I'd be taking Vegas by storm and $5K would be chump change. Snag's Casino & Palace Resorts. Has a nice ring to it.
