DJ Pettway is back on the Alabama football team.
Didn't do much wrong except...
On Feb. 11, Hayes, 18, Williams, 20, and Pettway, 20, were each charged with two counts of second-degree robbery while Calloway 20, was charged with one count of fraudulent use of a credit card.
Williams, who was also charged with fraudulent use of a credit card, was arrested one day earlier on a separate gun charge.
According to arrest warrants, Pettway, Williams and Hayes attacked and robbed two UA students in two separate incidents. The trio came away with a laptop, cash, a UA student action card and various credit and debit cards. Calloway and Williams each used the action card to purchase snacks from a Bryant Hall vending machine.

Am I mistaken or did the school administration or a student government organization kick him out? If so. How can he come back?

The school ultimately makes the decision on whether to kick him out or not, and they made the decision to let him back in.
I hope this is simply a matter of hanging with the wrong crowd. This is the first time that anything like this has happened under Saban (where somebody is dismissed then comes back) that I know of, so I would assume there are some sort of circumstances that we are unaware of. I know Pettway's HS coach, and he doesn't allow shenanigans on his team. His coach is a good guy from a good family, and never would have tolerated somebody being a thug. He runs a very clean and solid program. I guess that's where it's hard for me to grasp that this kid is some sort of hardened thug that is unreachable. But, people change sometimes I suppose.

I will pistol whip the next guy that says shenanigans.

I don't, because it has been in the works since around October. He told TideSports staff months ago he was working with UA on coming back. His HS coach has known about it too. This was going to happen win, lose, or draw as long as he met UA's requirements to come back.

Not stealing anymore people's shit?
As Chris Rock would say...

Alabama explains 'special circumstances' surrounding D.J. Pettway's return to the Tide

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama — There were questions surrounding the re-signing of Alabama defensive lineman D.J. Pettway after his arrest and dismissal in February.
The Alabama football program officially announced he signed to return after a season in junior college. He was charged in February with robbery along with former teammates Tyler Hayes and Eddie Williams.
Then the university spokesperson Deborah Lane released a statement to AL.com about his status with the university. This was UA's first official comment on the matter from the university level.
"D.J. Pettway was suspended from UA in February 2013 after he was arrested for two counts of robbery," Lane's statement read. "The charges stemming from his arrest are no longer pending. Pettway recently petitioned for re-enrollment to the University. After thoroughly evaluating all aspects of his request, which includes the facts surrounding the February 2013 arrest as well as Pettway's current situation, the University is allowing Pettway to re-enroll for the Spring 2014 semester. Pettway's continued enrollment depends on his ability to fulfill all requirements the University has specifically mandated for him during the remainder of his time as a UA student."
The exact requirements were confidential, a spokesperson said.
Alabama athletics director Bill Battle also released a statement.
"One of our primary points of emphasis in college athletics is to make every effort to help develop the total person. As part of the University community, there is an obligation on the part of the student-athlete, the University and the Athletics Department in helping each person that represents us to reach their potential. On occasion, there are special circumstances that arise, particularly when a young person takes the first steps on their own to earn the privilege of attending our University. We treat every disciplinary case with care and sensitivity to all involved and we respect the University's procedures regarding punishment and readmission. We understand our responsibility, not only to the University and the student-athletes, but also to our community and our state."
Pettway was arrested and charged with second-degree robbery in February. He was dismissed from the football team, and eventually enrolled at East Mississippi Community College.
Pettway was later granted youthful offender status and all court records were sealed.

Well, I for one, feel better. It was "thoroughly evaluated" and their primary goal is to "develop the total person."
Translation: We haven't had a real pass rush in 2 years and dude's a stud.

I also love how the explanation of what he was arrested for leaves out arbitrarily beating the shit out of an innocent victim at complete random.

I believe, "Slapped him to sleep" is the appropriate term.

did the kid's dad say he probably deserved it?
-
How much did the kid get for dropping the charges?

How much did the kid get for dropping the charges?
He didn't. The case was adjudicated with a youthful offender status. If the charges were dropped, there wouldn't be a youthful offender status. There would be nothing to adjudicate.

Duh! Reading is Fundamental, isn't it? I read that they were no longer stemming, and failed to read the last line.

I'm sure the uat students feel a lot better knowing that a thug is back on campus...so, would they let a regular student back in school after being arrested for assault and robbery on campus? I'm guessing no.
