Beijing Olympics: Faking scandal over girl who 'sang' in opening ceremony
Chinese officials have admitted deceiving the public over another highlight of the Olympic opening ceremony: the picture-perfect schoolgirl who sang as the Chinese flag entered the stadium was performing to another girl's voice.

The girl in the red dress with the pigtails, called Lin Miaoke, 9, and from a Beijing primary school, has become a national sensation since Friday night, giving interviews to all the most popular newspapers.
But the show's musical designer felt forced to set the record straight. He gave an interview to Beijing radio saying the real singer was a seven-year-old girl who had won a gruelling competition to perform the anthem, a patriotic song called "Hymn to the Motherland".
At the last moment a member of the Chinese politburo who was watching a rehearsal pronounced that the winner, a girl called Yang Peiyi, might have a perfect voice but was unsuited to the lead role because of her buck teeth.
So, on the night, while a pre-recording of Yang Peiyi singing was played, Lin Miaoke, who has already featured in television advertisements, was seen but not heard.
"This was a last-minute question, a choice we had to make," the ceremony's musical designer, Chen Qigang, said. "Our rehearsals had already been vetted several times - they were all very strict. When we had the dress rehearsals, there were spectators from various divisions, including above all a member of the politburo who gave us his verdict: we had to make the swap."

Wait, they didn't think she was cute enough??
HAVE THE CHINESE LOOKED IN THE MIRROR LATELY?

Speaking of Olympic fraud, China is seriously starting to get on my nerves. What is up with their female gymnastics team all looking like 11 year olds?
I know that most asians in general don't seem to physically age as fast, but you can take one look at that team and see that clearly 3 or 4 are way to young. WTF

One of them (below) still has baby teeth. She's 12 or 13 at best.

Bela Kar..uh....oli was making this point to Bob Costas last night. You could see Bob pucker up when Bela said (and I'm paraphrasing here because who really can understand that Iron Curtain bastard?): Everyone knows the Chinese gymnasts are underaged, but they've got their passports so how can you prove it?
-
What's he bitchin' about? Sounds like we got powned by a bunch of 12 year olds.

There's a minimum age to compete in Olympic gymnastics.

I know, but I wouldn't admit to getting my clock cleaned by a 5th grader. Usually we're griping about those damn Taiwanese pitchers in Little League being 14 or something....and they probably are. Here, we're getting schooled by little Chinese Power Puff girls.

The younger (and presumably smaller) girls have an advantage.
The commie bastards are cheating and you want to let them off the hook? I'm calling Homeland Security to report you.

I may be an Eco-terrorist but I'm no Commie lovin' sympathizer.

According to reporting from U.S. news organizations, half of China's six-member women's gymnastics team that won the gold medal today was not old enough to be competing in the event. The rules say competitors have to turn 16 in the Olympic year to be eligible for the Games, meaning they have to have been born in 1992 or earlier.
This is where China's math and the rest of the world's math diverge. Yang Yilin, a medal contender in the all-around, was born Aug. 26, 1993, according to the official 2004, 2005 and 2006 national registration lists previously posted on the General Administration of Sport of China website, the Associated Press has reported. That means Yang is still 14, with her 15th birthday approaching.
But, interestingly enough, on the 2007 registration list, her birthday became Aug. 26, 1992.
How about He Kexin, a medal favorite on uneven bars? In articles and registration lists from 2005, 2006 and 2007, found by The New York Times and the Associated Press, she was born Jan. 1, 1994. Oh-oh.
But her Chinese passport says she was born Jan. 1, 1992. (Doesn't this happen with aging Hollywood actresses, only in reverse?)
And Jiang Yuyuan, another pillar of China's team? A list of competitors at a 2007 provincial competition listed an Oct. 1, 1993, birth date.
The passport? No problem. Nov. 1, 1991.
No matter how significant the other evidence, those passports, issued by the Chinese government, trump all. "The International Gymnastics Federation strictly verified their passports and confirmed that their ages met the age rules for participating in the world championship, World Cup and Olympics," the Chinese Gymnastics Association said in a statement.

Your Honor, the Plaintiff will stipulate to the authenticity of the passport.
-
hell, lets just bomb the fuck out of them. We nuked half a million Japanese in their backyard and they turned out ok.
-
I don't think we'd have ever been blessed with the mega-star that is...Godzilla, if that whole war thing hadn't happened.
-
Oh, how quickly people forget.........this is the same country that painted baby toys with lead paint, made dog food with rat poision, murders felons for organ harvests, and had 80,000k people die in an earthquake because they can't comprehend the idea of building codes.
And they are suppose to be a modern industrialized nation..........They can't even tell you what year their kids were born.
So, little 75lb Lu Wu went from being born in the year of the Rat, to being born in the year of the Goat. That is going to fuck her up the rest of her life. You know those people can't take a shit without looking at their horoscope.
And her government will probably take that gold medal from her to deposit in the "national" safe deposit box and send her ass packing back to the rice fields in two or three years.
Does anybody really believe a group of people who can "Milli Vanilli" a 7 year old girl during the opening cermony and use digital animation to fake the fireworks; is above forging some dates on a few passports?
Stupid fucking lying commies.

An advantage for younger gymnasts is that they are lighter and, often, more fearless when they perform difficult maneuvers, said Nellie Kim, a five-time Olympic gold medalist for the former Soviet Union who is now the president of the women’s technical committee for the Swiss-based International Gymnastics Federation.
“It’s easier to do tricks,” Kim said. “And psychologically, I think they worry less.”
The New York Times broke the story so it has to be true.

Just noticed that when the first Chinese gymnast came to the Vault, NBC's graphic with the "Hometown" and "Age" said, "Age: 15".
We all know they're supposed to be 16..... interesting... Think it was just a "typo" by the folks at NBC????

I actually think they said that as long as the athlete is turning 16 in the Olympic year, it's okay....

Well they can get fucked, since that 12 year old won't turn 16 until the NEXT Olympic games in London.
