It appears that the "Nick Saban to Texas" rumor is both legitimate and gaining traction. As first reported by Inside Texas and then confirmed by ESPN radio, Nick Saban's wife, Terry, was in Austin two weeks ago house hunting with her daughter-in-law.
Inside Texas' Jesus Shuttleworth, whose weekly column has grown a cult-like following, was the first to report on the Nick Saban's agent Jimmy Sexton speaking with Texas regents nine months ago. He also was one of the first to report about Texas' athletic director DeLoss Dodds end-of-year retirement. Suffice it to say, his credibility remains unquestioned.
Today on Spanning the Loeb, ESPN's afternoon radio show in the Austin area, Adam Loeb doubled down on this report, claiming that his sources also believe it to be true. Burnt Orange Nation's Michael Pelech was listening at the time and describes the conversation below:
Alex Loeb who hosts the afternoon show on 104.9 in Austin with Sean Adams was saying how there was the Wallace Hall reaching out to Saban's agent story...then a few weeks ago there were reports that were pretty detailed about Terry Saban househunting in Austin, and that the report had a realtor's name and dollar figures and neighborhoods...and that he did some digging with people he trusts and that the report was completely true.
The original report on Inside Texas gives more details about Terry Saban's trip to Austin, including realtor information, ties with that agent to the athletic department, shady real estate dealings in Alabama, and Saban's relationship with Texas athletic department employees who likely helped set up the meeting. However, the report concedes that Mrs. Saban stated that she was only interested in purchasing a "vacation home" in the area.
So what is to be made of this report? With the backing of major players like ESPN allowing it over the airwaves and the historically accurate Jesus Shuttlesworth detailing her trip, it would be ignorant to just treat as hearsay. But it does lead to some important questions that need to be asked.
Why would Saban, the most methodical man in the country, allow his wife to travel to Austin at a time when the Texas coaching vacancy is all but announced? Did Saban think that this trip could have been done in secrecy? Does he really care if it gets out? (We've seen how he's treated job exits before.) Is Austin actually a city where people vacation?
It'll be interesting to see how this one plays out as the Nick Saban-to-Texas rumors continue apace.
Update (3:50pm)- ESPN Austin's Erin Hogan is also confirming these rumors, including intel from someone inside Travis County's sheriff's office who claims to have helped with Mrs. Saban's security.

You'd better hope so. Otherwise, there will be a lot of "falling down stairs" calls throughout the state.

I'm guessing this is just a Summer Vacation house that they're looking at, in Austin, Texas...Nothing to see here, someone that looks just like Terry Saban (same person in the Tom Albetar picture), someone hacked a journalist's account and wrote the article, #StruggleOverWit
-
Chizad - you are needed on aisle five
@CapstoneReport
Dear Auburn fans, your fantasy of NCAA problems turned to nothing, and so will your dreams of Saban house hunting in Austin.

I hate to assume this question has already been asked, but then find out nobody has asked it...are they sure it was not for their son and daughter-in-law? Has somebody got Mrs. Saban on record as saying they were looking for a "vacation home"? I mean, come on, who vacations in Austin Texas? UAT is sitting at #1 and looking down the barrel of another possible MNC, so if he was considering the Texas job, would he really be dumb enough to be sending his wife to look at homes in Austin right now? Mark me down as skeptical.
-
I am hoping this is not true. You if/when AU beats bama this year, I don't want the bammers using this as an excuse of why they lost. I know, I know, they will find a perfectly normal excuse but just not this one.

But fuck him. The more distractions he and his team have to deal with the better.

Gotta agree with the goat molestor here.
Ain't gonna happen. If the employer who had the biggest bank account was everything, wal mart would be full of Harvard grads. Saban fits in at UTeasip like vandy vol on a basketball court.

Why do you hate Spud Webb?
-
I don't think he's going to UT either. There are other colleges in Austin ya know. Austin Community college or St Edwards. I think he wants to start winding down. He's starting to mellow, like piss in a toilet.
-
Since most ITT think weeman stays, I'll play devil's advocate. First off like Ranger pointed out who the fuck looks for vacation spots in Austin Texas of all places? Noone outside of anyone who either went to college at Texas or lived in the state of Texas. So now the obvious Q. Was it her? Lots of media and other folks seem to believe so. I mean is it really coincidence that Texas fans are printing up the shirts and low and behold the weeones wife pops up looking at real estate? The Guy is the biggest sleaze in all CFB. Anyone think he gives a single fuck about UAT? No its all about his legacy. He knows he is on the mountaintop right now and he also knows his run at UAT will end sooner rather than later. Instead of peaking and coming down, imagine the hype he would receive if he was able to bring back the Horns and win 3 titles at 3 different schools. Ego. Also ones got to wonder with Mo Couch still sitting his ass on the bench maybe their is an open investigation into the matter and weeone knows the shits about to hit the fan. I'd imagine nothing would piss him off more than having a trophy stripped from his legacy due to some dumbass redneck UAT booster like John Phillips who lively hood depends on the programs success and his connection to it.
-
Hopefully he coaches at Turdville maybe three more years and Gus beats him twice. However the success of Gus v. Saban would bring on rumors of other schools showing interest in him.
Mora Jr. is far more suited for the NFL with his demeanor but I think Kyle Whittingham at this point is the best of all worlds as a HC for an NFL club, USC or Texas. JMO!

This is what I'm thinking. I don't want him to quit while he's ahead.
Saban has not yet reached a record against Auburn as good as Stallings', the only other coach since Bear (of nine coaches) to post a winning record on us during his stay.
The playing field is leveling. I want to even the Iron Bowl record during his tenure up first. I want him to end his stay on a down note, as Bear did. It was cathartic and symbolic. As I'm sure Bama fans feel about Tuberville's last stand. All empires must crumble.

Honestly, I think he will retire after the next title that he wins. Even if it's this year. Assuming that he wins another in the next 2-3 years, anyway. I will be pretty surprised if he is the coach by the 2015 season either way. He's old as fuck, and I just don't see him trying to unfuck Texas this late in the game. I know you will laugh, but I really believe him when he says that this is his last stop. Not because I hope he stays forever and ever and ever, but because it actually makes sense.

I dunno. I see him more as the kind of guy they'll have to wheel out onto the field. I don't think it's about the money at this stage as much as it's about the power and influence. Believe me, it's addictive. I remember when I was a nobody. Wouldn't wanna go back. I don't see how you guys live like that.

We have word now from two trusted sources that Nick Saban to Texas is a done deal. One of the sources said the money he will get is substantial (obviously) but we haven’t got any word on what that number might be.
UPDATE: for those asking for exact dates on when this is going to happen. We don’t know. We are telling you what we know which is that we have two very good sources that have told us that Nick Saban is going to Texas and one of the sources said that the money is going to be substantial. We would not have run this unless we trusted the sources.
We received word from one source saying it was going to happen and then we contacted a second source asking for confirmation and the second source confirmed. That’s what we know.

It always works this way, but former Auburn QB who is a current AL Judge & is extremely connected with the AU program has assured the Auburn message board community that Nick Saban is officially gone.
I will say this; he is a real "insider" for Auburn & very connected via his current position. I guess it'll be interesting to see if his sources for Alabama are as spot on as his ones for Auburn.
----------------------------
Of course the bunker is in a frenzy as well. One of their well known/trusted insiders is saying he gone. As well as another guy, who doesn't seem to have the same e-cred, is claiming an ex gump player is saying he gone.
-
Not sure how legit the "football braniacs" are, but I will say, I'll be at peace with this. After Auburn established our dominance with such a landmark game, buh bye.
I'm fine with that going down in history as the knock-out punch that ended his career, just like 82 was for Bear.
I was the only Auburn fan on earth NOT ok with him to go out on a positive note. I would have been pissed if we lost this Iron Bowl and then he left. I'm not afraid of him.

Agreed...I still hate "Clean Gene" just a little more than the rest of their coaches because he went out on a high note in 96.

LB7 from the Bunker? That guy? If it's that guy, I think he's a judge, and I think he's full of shit. He might get some insight on our own program, but he's always been way off when it comes to anything about other programs or NCAA investigations.

That's the bunker hero. I have no idea who the qb they are refering to is. Kinda thought it might have come from 247 or scout. Im to poor to own more than 1 pay account though.
-
I hate to say it.. but I think whatever Texas would offer the asshole, they'd match or exceed it. If he leaves though, lolololol at the meltdown
-
Before this past Saturday, I only had a small inkling of a feeling that the rumors are true about Saban to Tejas. That was only because of the Misress Sabynz comment regarding the bammer fan base.
After the AU victory and the monumental bammer nation meltdown, I'm thinking that he may very well be gone. However, I don't think any of these message board know-it-alls have a clue what the hell they are talking about. Connections? Pffft.

The only thing that lends any credence to this at all is the circumstances of his leaving LSU. He complained about the entitled mentality and how the fans were critical of a team that won eight games or some such. Very unhappy after Iowa loss with the fan reaction. Cited that as a primary consideration.
Of course you have to slog through 460 pages of Saban/Texas links to find anything about his LSU departure, but I remember that distinctly. It's why I expected his Alabama tenure to be short. If he thought LSU fans were arrogant and entitled, what did he think he was going to get in Tuscaloosa?

He's not making a move without Larry and Stan.
He'll wait and see if the stars align and they fall back into the BCSCG ala Les Miles in '07 with the Michigan flirtation. I still think that would have happened had LSU NOT gotten into the title game vs. Ohio State.

Texas Site Goes All In On Nick Saban to Texas
Published on: December 05, 2013 | Written by: Clay Travis
Nick Saban to Texas is the rumor that will not die.
Last night a social media firestorm erupted over Saban to Texas. (Above photo via yahoo).
Where did it originate?
At a website called InsideTexas.com.
And via a writer who goes by the pen name of Jesus Shuttlesworth.
Yes, I'm for real.
Let's track down the roots of the latest Internet rumor.
You can find both the site and the writer on Twitter.
InsideTexas is here. It has over 10,000 Twitter followers, so it's achieved a substantial social media following, including several ESPN staffers who have worked at the Longhorn Network.
Jesus Shuttlesworth -- who has a nice photoshopped Ray Allen as Jesus as his Twitter image -- is on there as well. He has around 700 followers.
His most recent Twitter comment is a retweet from 13 hours ago, "I'm an atheist, but I believe in @jesusinsidetex."
At Outkick we get all sorts of outlandish message board rumors sent to us each day. Most of them we just dismiss or check out for the entertainment value.
But this one hopped off the premium board at Inside Texas and took Twitter by storm.
Why?
Because it's so detailed and definitive.
And, also, because so many people seem to want to believe it.
So is Saban to Texas completely made up?
We'll see.
But here's what Inside Texas was telling its premium subscribers last night. (Via tipster Nick. H.)
This is from a live chat:
Jesus Shuttlesworth: I think Mack announces before banquet and Saban comes in that weekend
Jesus Shuttlesworth: The crazy part is Saban will bring recruits with him it sounds like.
zzzizzzy: assistants have been asked to keep quiet w their future plans until mack announces.
Jesus Shuttlesworth: zzzz, is right about that. Expect announcements or breaking news from IT next Sunday
Jesus Shuttlesworth: huntsville, I will never do percentages again, but I'm confident
zzizzzy: saban still 100%
Jesus Shuttlesworth: chancellor at bama says saban to texas. That's the big news
Jesus Shuttlesworth: Some Bama commits may follow Saban to Texas. two or three five stars
zzzizzzy: assistants have literally been begged to remain quiet on their future plans until after Mack announces
zzizzzy: no obligation to keep quiet, but if they want other jobs, they respect the chain of command
Robert Witt, Bama Chancellor, was Dean of UT Business School, and President of UT-Arlington.
Saban NOT coaching bowl game. period.
Jesus Shuttlesworth: Nobis, Narduzzi and the Nussmeyer I would think (Possible staff)
lamar littrell: regarding current AD personnel/coaches vis a vis Patterson...think Jim McKay' Munich coverage - "They're all gone...
Jesus Shuttlesworth: jark, the whole thing gets blown up. Suddes will be the only survivor. BTW, did anyone notice the latest Texas offer and who broke it? Guess who and guess why
Jesus Shuttlesworth: Robert Witt chancellor at bama, Red McCombs, Pat Frost, Bart Koontz, Bob Rowling, austin realtor, UTPD, an interior decorator in Austin, have all said Saban was coming to Texas among others. It's why we've been confident
zzzizzzy: suddes was suggested for his position back when we were almost certain saban was coming. mack unwittingly said ok. js may not agree with me on this, but it is a fact and one of the reasons ive been so certain of saban's coming
And our tipster continues with further revelations:
"On a similar note I have had two friends (both Aggies, so they aren't being Texas homers) tell me about similar "Saban is a done deal" rumors. One sat in a Texas boosters box for the Tech game and was told by that booster that "Saban deal has been done for 8 weeks." I don't think it is done but he seemed fairly confident that Saban will be at Texas next year. I don't want to give the boosters name but if you need it to confirm how involved he is at Texas then I will provided it as long as you don't use it publicly. My other buddy works for a news station somewhere in the state of Texas( I will not provide his name) but he spoke with a very influential booster from a different school in Texas. This booster told him about some other coaching deals (briles, sumlin, etc) about a month before the story broke so he is beginning to listen to the rumors that this booster tells him. The booster is involved in Texas politics as well so he has a good hear for what is going on at the major schools in Texas. He told my friend "As much as it saddens me to say this, Saban to Texas has been done for a long time". I know you probably get several rumor emails like this but I thought it is still of some interest to you."
...
So if you're wondering where all the smoke came from last night, it was from InsideTexas.
And by going all in on Saban to Texas, they've set themselves up to be either geniuses or idiots.
Which, to be fair, is kind of what college football does to all of us on a weekly basis.
Believe in Texas site? You can subscribe here.
I'm starting to believe...

Chip Brownâ€@ChipBrownOB5h
High-level sources tell http://bit.ly/2ENVsd (http://bit.ly/2ENVsd) Mack Brown will step down after 16 years at Texas. My story ... http://bit.ly/1kwvDJ4 (http://bit.ly/1kwvDJ4)
and reaffirmed...
Chip Brownâ€@ChipBrownOB35m
My sources at the highest level of Texas have re-confirmed my report. I hope we can start talking about Mack Brown’s legacy at Texas soon.
The rumor mill churning hard as ever..
Finebaum has said the turds have had a contract on his desk since friday..
http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2013/12/paul_finebaum_nick_saban_has_a.html (http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2013/12/paul_finebaum_nick_saban_has_a.html)
Yet here we are 4 days later and no announcement on an extension. The thing that screams something is going on is the fact that the midget himself could've squashed all of this on Gameday by announcing he and the updykes were in negotiations on an extension. His silence speaks volumes imo. Ask yourself this, why would a recruiting machine like the updyke king allow these rumors to swirl and hurt him on the recruiting trail?
The corndogs are all over the midget to Texas rumors...

This Nick Saban stuff is apparently getting real.
TCU beat report from Fort-Worth Star

Source close to Texas executive council of regents says Nick Saban will be next Longhorns coach.

The Turd Rumor Mill is countering by saying they are offering Sabinz $7M.

NO ONE is worth that kind of money for coaching a damn football team. They are out of their gorram minds if they do that.

Latest rumor is a 10 year $100M deal on the table

Uh Oh someone was apparently taking pictures inside the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport yesterday and caught Nick Saban walking with what looks like a Texas regent official...

I think 99.9% (or 144/157th) of the people "reporting" on this, know exactly DICK. Mack Brown hasn't been fired and hasn't resigned. It may happen this morning but as of right now....
And Lord Saybinz hasn't announced a damn thing yet. Do I want it to happen? Yep!!! I want our rival to have Mike Shula as coach, not LS. Just like I'm quite certain the unwashed would much rather us have Ron Chizik at the helm right now.
All the Mack out/Lord Saybinz in stuff may happen. But there's something that tells me the people making those decisions aren't giving intricate details to anyone posting on message boards or talking on the radio. Finebaum has been reporting last night that Lord Saybinz has had a contract on his desk since last Friday, but hasn't done anything with it. Really? Who the fuck told him that? Nobody. Lord Saybinz is out recruiting the country and they just walked in his office and plopped a $100 million contract on his desk? Did they put it in the in box or the out box? Just throw it in his chair with the rest of his mail?

I just don't see why Saban would leave for another project at this point in his career. He has Alabama the way he wants it, they will pay him pretty much anything, and the expectations at Texas are just as high, if not higher. Their fans are just as much as fucktards as 90% of our fanbase.
If he does leave, yeah, it would suck. He's one of the best coaches in college football. But, we all knew he would leave at some point, whether by retirement or other. I wouldn't mind it if Kirby Smart were named HC. I think that is the plan anyway. If not, I'm pretty sure that Alabama can land a high profile coach. Saban has set the table for the next person in line.

Not. Even. Close.
They are smarmy arrogant homers like y'all, but the vast majority are t-sip graduates and most have shitloads of money. They are true elitists with the money to back it up - the folks in your fan base are wanna be elitists who shoot each other over the outcome of the game.

Perhaps, but it's still the same mindset at the end of the day. They want championships. Every year. No losing allowed. Lose to Oklahoma by 1 point in a hard fought game? Meltdown. Burn it all down. Two loss season? Fire everybody. Sure, he may get a pass for the first two seasons while he's changing everything the way he wants it. But after that first taste of success, every season thereafter will have to be like that season. Or else. They're not going to pay upwards of $5 million a year for anything less.

I have a feeling Lord Saybinz would recommend Smart if he did in fact, leave. However, I wonder if the powers that be would want to take a chance on another assistant. I imagine the Dumbose stench is still lingering at the Crapstoned.

It's the only reason why I would imagine that Smart has hung around as long as he has. He's had numerous opportunities to leave, and he hasn't. He understands the landscape, understands the systems, and would likely keep things status quo.

JMHO opinion. I think the updyke king likes having his ego stroked. See his wife complaining about not being appreciated. Will he leave or go? I have no fucking idea. However a few things are certain. Mack Brown's ass is gone. Their main target is the updyke king. The updyke king has had plenty of chances to smash this rumor, like Gustav did, yet he has chose not too. JMHO but this stuff is gonna clear up pretty fast either way. Mack will be gone by the weekend and Saturday start a dead period in recruiting (if I'm not mistaken). If all that holds true he will have to return and answer some Qs or announce an extension.
Honestly I could give shit less what he does. This thread is for entertainment purposes only. If just one updyke has had the slightest tingle in that inner empty pit they call a soul, then any amount of time I've spent posting about it was well worth it (ahem Heath Evans ahem). As for the "next person in line." Life before the updyke king looked like this....

I don't really give a fuck if Saban goes or not. I think Auburn has a coach and staff that can go toe to toe with Saban now, so it doesn't matter...
However, you are crazy as fuck if you think someone can just come in...even Smart...and do what Saban has done. Let me clue you in. The reason Saban came in and was successful is not because he is a great X's and O's football coach. The reason Saban is successful at Alabama is because he is able to control everyone around him, including the high money boosters that will do anything to win. He is able to control the media. He is able to put a system in place to get to every recruit in the state and now the nation. No one questions Saban. No one does anything that Saban doesn't want them to do. Including giving a loan to a player or talking to a middle man agent. Saban controls all of that shit and he is very good at it.
Not everyone can do that. If you think Smart is going to be able to come in and have the success because he is a good defensive coach...you have lost your fucking mind...

This^^post^^right^^here^^ No^^up there^^ Just above mine^^
X's and O's Not so much. Controlling every aspect of a program and the media. Bingo!!!
That's not a knock on the guy (Other than the fact that all indications are he treats people like shit)
Now to me, a perfect example of how he controls the media:
Reporter: Lord Saybinz, you have Northview High School this week, who you'll beat by 70 points in the first quarter. Will you rest your starters or put in some of your game plan for the New England Patriots next week?
Lord Saybinz: I'm sick of you not respecting our opponents, aiight? You people come in here with these asinine questions that do nothing but kick dirt in the faces of the team we play this week, aiight? Those 9th graders in that other locker room will work just as damn hard preparing for this game as we will, aiight? So shut your fucking pie hole, aiight? I'm leaving.
Room of Reporters: chuckles
Sports Writers Around The State: A BRILLIANT move by Lord Saybinz in motivating his own team. Genius!!! All part of the process. Berate a room full of reporters to keep his team focused on playing the Pee Wee League Champs Saturday. I'm in awe. Aren't you, Jim?

I don't necessarily think that he will automatically have the same success, but I believe every opportunity is there for him to have that success if he is a decent coach. He won't walk into a situation like Gus did at AU where he has to unfuck alot of things. He won't have to rebuild some aspects of the program. He won't have to change alot of things. The opportunity will be there, but he will have to capitalize on it. And like I said, if it isn't him, the table is still set for somebody else. But, as you point out, just because the table is set for somebody else doesn't mean that they won't come in and fuck it up.

The table will be set but your crazy fanbase is going to expect to be in the national title hunt Year 1 no matter who the coach will be. When Mr. New Coach goes 9-3 or 10-2 and loses to Miles and Malzahn the bricks will start flying through the windows again. He'll bolt after 2 or 3 years and then it's time to que the self-destructive cycle of hiring within the Saban coaching tree trying to recreate the past success.
Before you know it you'll end up with Derek Dooley.

Herbstreet weighs in:
On rumors about Nick Saban coming to Texas:
“There’s no chance. No chance of that happening. Nick Saban will work TV sitting next to us on our set before he’ll be the head coach at Texas … He’ll be at Alabama for another five years, and then he’ll be working TV after that … I know Nick Saban better than anybody. It’s not going to happen.â€

Should Nicky leave:
Where your problem is going to be is next year you are going to have a good season, too much talent on your team, the PTB get to thinking its more them than coaching and they start meddling, (they have done it before), all of sudden you lose two to three games the following year (and one is to Auburn) more meddling and fan base redneckism causing an implosion.

The Saturday Down South blog makes this good point that maybe someone has mentioned here, but if so, I don't remember reading it:
Here are ten questions I have regarding Saban’s status at Alabama and the possibility of taking the Texas job:
1.How impactful is the departure of AJ McCarron? I believe it’s huge. McCarron is to Saban as Tebow was to Meyer. Saban loves McCarron. You saw two great moments this year after Texas A&M when Saban spoke about trusting McCarron, and you saw it against LSU when Saban literally jumped into McCarron’s arms in a moment where emotion took the better of Saban’s usual hard-ass demeanor. McCarron might not make plays like Manziel, but he’s the on-field general that makes Saban’s life and march to a championship much easier. There’s no McCarron in 2014.
I know I had not really thought of this, but it's a good point. I am sure Sabinz is rolling five deep at QB but he will still be starting over. Malzahn has Marshall back and a backup in JJ that has playing time and experience.
Here are the rest of the questions, all valid items:
2.Has Saban topped out? Let’s face it. There’s only one direction to go. Down. He’s taken Alabama football to the top, and there’s nothing more he can achieve other than more of the same. Fans are fans, and they tend to have a “what have you done for me lately?†mentality. If Saban doesn’t win the National Championship in any of the upcoming 3 years or so, fans might start to groan. He knows this.
3.Is it harder to stay on top than get to the top? It’s a legitimate question. Winning three titles in four years is simply incredible. You saw this year how it took a simple field goal return in the Iron Bowl to ruin the march to a 3rd straight and 4th in five years. When you get to the top, everyone guns for you. When you are the standard, coaches either try to replicate your system or they implement systems and schemes meant to directly counteract your system. Lastly, when you’re at the top, it becomes increasingly difficult to hang on to assistant coaches. Staying on top is very difficult.
4.Is Saban a builder? This is the longest head coaching tenure for Nick Saban. We know he’s damn good at building up a program and taking it from mediocrity to excellence. Mission accomplished at Alabama. Does he get bored once he’s performed this aspect of the job?
5.If Saban left, would Alabama promote Kirby Smart? Paul Finebaum thinks so. It’s a similar move to what we saw with Oregon when Chip Kelly left. It’s an attempt to maintain continuity and keep the momentum going rather than bring in a new CEO with a new system and a new method of doing things. I have my doubts about this philosophy and would have my doubts about promoting Kirby Smart rather than bringing in an outsider.
6.If Saban leaves, is Auburn on top of the mountain in terms of the rivalry? I think you’d have to say so considering Malzahn’s success this year and Auburn playing for a National Championship. As long as Saban is coaching at Alabama, I’ll say they’re the favorites moving forward, but if Saban takes off, all bets are off. That would be quite an insane flip of statuses between the two Alabama programs in just 12 months.
7.Is Texas an appealing job for Saban? Of course it is. It’d be an appealing job for anyone. It’s the biggest brand in the country. It’s a fairly easy conference to dominate. The recruiting is fertile. The money is big. The town is great. There’s probably only one job Saban would leave Alabama for…and Texas is probably it.
8.If Saban leaves, what happens to the statue? It’s one thing for Meyer to leave, take a year off, then take the Ohio State job, but to leave a program and go directly to another program, it’ll be interesting to see how fans react. They have a statue of Saban and let’s just say it’s an interesting dynamic to ponder. PCT and Uncle Sani may have to push the turd fans out of the way in order to shit on the statue...
9.If Saban stays put, does he leave in the next couple years? I don’t think so. If there’s a time to leave to another program, it’s this year, and it’s Texas. As I said, Auburn is rebounding, McCarron is gone, and we all assume that the Texas job will be open (still occupied by Mack Brown as of writing this). If Saban stays put, he’ll likely retire in Tuscaloosa.
10.Should Alabama match any dollar amount that Texas throws at Saban? There are $10 million annually for 10 years rumors going around, and now we’re talking crazy numbers. If there’s any truth to this, I’m not sure Alabama matches it, and I’m not sure they should. Nobody has done more for a program than Nick Saban, but I don’t think any program should have that sort of financial commitment to a coach. Smarter people than I will decide this, but I tend to appreciate the St. Louis Cardinals approach to the Albert Pujols deal… he gave us great years, we’re really appreciative, but we can’t commit to a contract like this, we wish Albert the best in the future. (Jarhead??) It might be hard to see it now, but Alabama football is bigger than Nick Saban. :jaw: Dude better watch the stairs!! (OTOH, EVERYTHING is bigger than Nick Saban...)
If you’re an Alabama fan, I’d say that there’s no need to panic. Until something changes, it’s probably smart to assume that Saban will remain at Alabama. He’s got a machine going, and he’ll compete every year.
We’ll stay tuned and keep an eye out for news on a possible raise and extension at Alabama, or if Saban pulls a shocker and departs his current job.

They seem to think they will need to pay 400 mill for a coach then. Because that's about the point they separate from bama on money. Until then, Bama has plenty of money in this bidding war. It's not about money. Idiots in Texas don't get that. Ny Yankees of cfb.
