I think we've already established that they cheat. And also that nobody cares so they just do it out in the open.

Playbooks should be visible to opponents anyway.

Whateva you do don't tell Jake that shit. Even if he knew the play, he would still find a way to fuck it all up.

Looks pretty bad when a "off field" coach is in the coach's box w/ binoculars calling out the offensive plays.

The coach's box is actually an area just off the sideline. The upstairs box/booth is not the coach's box, at least by NCAA rule definitions.

Sounds like a bunch of cry babies to me.

Wrong. Watch the video.

Really? So Belichick and "Spygate" is a huge fuckin deal, but if Bama's the guilty party, NBD? We have a coach being shown on camera while the commentators are sucking his dick, clearly reading the plays and communicating them to an actual coach with the headphones on. And of course, the entire country looks the other way, because Bama's above the law.
Direction violation: NCAA Article 11: Conduct and Employment of Athletics Personnel:
11.7.2.1 Exceptions to Number Limits FBS - No individual other than coaches designated to fill the coaching categories set forth in Bylaw 11.7.2 may participate in any manner in the coaching of the intercollegiate team of a member institution during any football game, practice or other organized activity.

Can you imagine the shit storm the media in this state would be having if Ole Miss had a former Bama coach in their booth with binoculars on the Bama coaches, relaying the play calls to an Ole Miss DC, and then watching Ole Miss stuff every single play Bama ran?
Now, I will say that Hugh Freeze is an idiot if he didn't change up the pictures or whatever from the previous season. It wouldn't take a former coach to figure out that every time Homer Simpson is in the top right hand corner, they run a receiver screen to the right.
-
First off that blog is just that, a fucking ole miss blog. Second, Freeze himself said they changed the signals. Third you mean to tell me that he had time to decipher the plays, tell the guy talking to Kirby Smart about it, who then relays it to the field....all while Ole Miss is in hurry up mode? Fourth that video shows a guy with binoculars looking at anything, fuck he could have been checkin out the bama cheerleaders for all we know.
I hate bama with every breath, but Ole Piss was doing a lot of shit talking and they got their asses handed to them. Done. Crybabies.

And the Twin Towers were not blown up by our own people.

It's no different than McElwain's Colorado State playing Alabama, or when Lance Thompson went to Tennessee from Alabama. You change your signals. Even if he didn't, I would find it pretty unlikely that you're going to accomplish much in the booth without a headset against an Ole Miss team that plays tempo. If you're going to do that and be effective, you're going to be somewhere on the sideline.
Chizad's comparison to Belichick is a little off base. He was actually videotaping other teams' signals and the team was studying film on signals beforehand.
-
Wrong. Watch the video.
I don't know what the video is supposed to prove?
He's in the upstairs booth. Call it a "coach's box" if you want, but the "coach's box" according to NCAA rules is not the upstairs booth. The coach's box is an area on the sidelines where only coaches and those with on the field responsibilities are allowed. Lots of people are allowed in that upstairs booth, including graduate assistants, many of which have only one job: decipher the sideline play calls.
Per the NCAA's wording:
SIDELINE CONTROL—
The rules committee admonishes NCAA member institutions and conferences to enforce strictly the rules regarding the team area and coaching box (Rule 1-2-4-a, back of the limit lines between the 25-yard lines), and the space between the limit lines (Rules 1-2-3-a and b, 12 feet outside the sidelines and the end line) and the sidelines. These field-level locations must be kept clear of persons who have no game responsibilities.
The field level is not for spectators. It must be reserved for those who are performing a service associated with action on the field of play and for administration of the game. Simply put, no job means no sideline pass.
And whether anyone likes it or not, there is nothing illegal about deciphering another team's plays. If you've stolen the team's play call signals and are then relaying what those signals are to the coaches, yes, it's illegal, but simply trying to figure out what plays they run after they give certain signals/signs? Not illegal.

What about deciphering and stealing the QB audibles?

That's some next-level mindfucking right there.

I don't think bama necessarily gained anything from having a former OM staffer in their booth, but why the fuck was he up there with binoculars in the first place? If his intent wasn't to steal signals, I'd be curious to know what it was.
And is that his job for every game, or just this one in particular?

Defense can do it too.

Actually since he is pretty much making all the offensive calls on the field he was telling his "Offensive Coordinator" what he wanted for the post-game celebration.

Lord Saybanz said that Siskey has been in those booths before this game. I haven't searched for footage to verify.

Well sure, if Tyler Sisky also worked for the other three teams and also knew their signals. Makes perfect sense.

It's SPUAT, it doesn't have to make sense.

This still pisses me off that this has been forgotten about, and people more or less are saying what you said above.
I'm sorry, dude, but this is clear and obvious cheating.
Watch the video. He's clearly peering through the binoculars, lowering them and clearly saying "Pass" to the coach with the headset on next to him.
Regardless of the fact that he is using his former relations with the Ole Miss coaching staff as an advantage with his relations with the Alabama staff, he is not a coach and has no business being in that box, let alone communicating plays to the staff. Period. The end. More flagrant cheating and the whole world turns their head. The game is rigged, why are we even playing anymore? Bama gets to play with their own deck of 52 aces, and everyone says "Well, you really should be able to do that if you're smart enough to bring your own deck."
Fuck that shit, their flagrant cheating is about a quarter inch away from forever ruining football for me.
-
he is not a coach and has no business ...communicating plays to the staff.
That is the crucial part [emphasis in the original post]. The former OM relationship is smoke.
-

Maybe you're advocating that the rules be changed, but under the current rules, it is not cheating. The only thing that is prohibited is recording another team's play call signals. There is nothing in the rules that prevents a coach or anyone else from trying to decipher what a signal or sign on the sidelines means as far as the upcoming play.
Regardless of the fact that he is using his former relations with the Ole Miss coaching staff as an advantage with his relations with the Alabama staff,
Freeze himself said he changed the signals since Siskey was last there. How is this an advantage? And even if it is an advantage, it's still not cheating according to the rules as they currently stand.
he is not a coach and has no business being in that box, let alone communicating plays to the staff.
I don't see any NCAA rules about who can be in the booth. The only limitations I see are in relation to the coaches box, which is not the booth to which you're referring. There are also limitations on the number of on-field assistants, but if you're in a booth upstairs, you're not on the field.
The only potential rule he could be breaking is by "coaching" the game, whatever that definition is. But ultimately, if Ole Miss changed their signals, then his illegal coaching would not get Bama anywhere.
-
Fuck that shit, their flagrant cheating is about a quarter inch away from forever ruining football for me.
Challenge accepted.
If as little comes of this as the Birmingham radio DJs are insisting, and the lack of any interest at all from the national media, count me out. I'm done.

Did you just challenge yourself, and then turn around and accept your own challenge?

No.
It was a joke based on the fact that I had JUST said that I was a "quarter inch away" from giving up on caring about football due to Bama never being held accountable for their flagrant violations, and then Bama accepts my challenge and ups the ante.
I quit.
-
Agreed. It's ridiculous.
