Was listening yesterday to one sportscaster saying the line on TexASS A&M and Arky is only 3 and must be a typo on what he was reading. Heard it again today and pulled up a couple of sites and yep...A&M favored by only 3. Outside of BFTC, I don't participate in teh bookies, but I do understand it's all about where all the money is being bet etc. But is that for realz? The Fighting Johnny Fucking Footballz beat that ass to a soda water finish last year and I watched Arkansas get beaten by Rutners last week. Something going on with those two teams? Is it time to get into teh bookies for this game?

The e-hysteria about Texas A&M "only being favored by 3 points" at Arkansas has reached the point where a clarifying article is necessary. In a nutshell:
THERE IS NO CURRENT SPREAD ON THE A&M AT ARKANSAS GAME
Those citing the three point spread all point to the VegasInsider page. The only problem? VegasInsider doesn't show any books - either in Vegas or offshore - accepting action on the game. In fact, no books are taking action on it.
If a point spread cannot be bet, then it does not exist. It has as much value as the hot sports takes you hear on your local sports radio station. Which is to say, none at all.
The question marks surrounding Arkansas' starting QB have to be resolved, and then bookmakers will hang a number to bet. Then the sharp bettors will hammer it into place. It may be late this week before that happens. Arkansas at Rutgers wasn't offered until Wednesday or Thursday of last week for that very same reason.
I fully expect A&M to be a double digit favorite for the game, regardless of who Arkansas starts at QB.
-
So, you're saying 3 points is correct? Gotcha
-
I'll tell you why it's three:
Texas A&M's defense is the worst in the SEC. It's Ted Roof bad. It's swiss cheese. It has more gaping holes in it than multi-penetration pornstar after a world record setting gang bang.
It's especially bad against the run. Need evidence? The evidence that no one will talk about?
Alabama's offense is fucking terrible. They sucked against Virginia Tech so bad that they were substituting o-linemen in and out of the game just to see if someone could block somebody. They were god awful against Colorado State, and AJ McTattoo conveyed that with his pissy brat postgame interview. Hell, they scored a touchdown on a play where the running back went the opposite direction of the play.
But against A&M? Well, by God, that's what they're really like! That's the real Alabama offense!
No. A&M was pushed around and gashed by Rice. They were scored on and pushed around by Sam Houston State.
A&M is giving up 5.9 yards per carry. They've given up more yards than they've rushed for.
They're the 106th best defense in the land.
And Arkansas has a two headed rushing attack that is going to run all over them. That's why it's -3.

You seem wise in the ways of the Jimmy Greeks. So, until they open it up to take any money, it's just standard to set a meaningless line like that? Question: It's Thursday now so obviously, there's a short time for all this money to pour in, assuming they start taking bets tonight, tomorrow morning....whatever. Is that more risk for those taking bets or placing them? Again, I'm asking because I don't do any of it. Don't the lines move one way or another based on what team the money is being bet on?

From my experience, unless you know where the smart money's going you totally avoid any on/offs (or any line moving by 1 1/2 pts.)... even the O/U.

Look dude, if you don't know how to bet, quit asking so many questions and just let someone do it for you. Who do you want, A&M to cover the 3 that GF pointed out? Send me a cashier's check or cash and I'll make it happen. The faster you get your money to me, the more likely you get to keep your 3 points, just like the article pointed out. I recommend overnighting FedEx to me before it goes to 10 or 15 points.

PM the address. Too late to get a cashier's check. All I have is hundreds. Is that okay?

Sounds like something Danny Sheridan would come up with to get twitter followers or some shit

Holtz went to the University of Arkansas in 1977. In his seven years there, the Razorbacks compiled a 60–21–2 record and reached six bowl games. In his first season at Arkansas, he led them to a berth in the 1978 Orange Bowl against the Oklahoma Sooners, then coached by University of Arkansas alumnus Barry Switzer.[3] The Sooners were in position to win their third national championship in four seasons after top-ranked Texas lost earlier in the day to fifth-ranked Notre Dame in the Cotton Bowl Classic. Arkansas' chances looked slim after the team lost several key personnel just before the game. In one of his last practices, All-American guard, Leotis Harris suffered a season-ending injury, and only a couple of days later Holtz suspended both starting running backs, Ben Cowins and Michael Forrest, and top receiver, Donny Bobo, for disciplinary reasons. However, behind an Orange Bowl record of 205 yards rushing from reserve running back Roland Sales the Hogs defeated the Sooners, 31–6.
This is a greatest example of a game with pre-game head scratching that bookmakers cleaned up on.
*Alabama fans loved Bryant (others and Saban not so much) on Tuesday evenings so they could collect their winnings at the designated lounge.

Where are you seeing the -3. Sporting News has it at -14 and the site I use has it at -10.5 Both favoring aTm.

Just went back and checked and now both have it at 14.5. Granted, one was an ESPN site but they had it the same as one Vegas site. So, does that mean they're now taking $$$$ on the game?

Thanks a lot for the "help" in securing some strip club money.

Ryan Brown of your JOX midday show is pretty good with the numbers. He stated that if Ole Miss keeps the Bamer game within 10 points look for them to be a 7 to 7.5 FAV at Jordan Hare,
If so, I think Auburn opens as a 3-4.5 dog max.

So you are saying that AU "might" have a chance against them?
Unless it rains.

Throw quarters. Make it hail.

JFF -3 is easy money.

We don't need to start out in a five man front ala LSU, We have Davis shutting down the boundary side with the Owens/ Adams show on display. And although Scott could pop a few good gains I look for us to play our best defensive game overall. Yes the LBs will be tested underneath getting safety help and Wallace will be stuffed.
The read option is kickin' with Mason and Marshall who has a number of slot types to work with if we should have to decoy Coates (Bray/Davis along with Uzomah split while CAP and Grant are revving up in the pits.
Auburn by 10. So yeah...unless Ole Miss practices in hail which isn't as wet as rain.

The 3 pt. line was a mistake. When it was up, it showed info from a couple years ago. Most sites opened today between 14 and 16.

Well hell, that changes everything.

Changes nothing. Should be in the Free Money thread.
