Title: Poll can suck it
Post by: Kaos on September 15, 2013, 03:56:43 PM
AU gets nine votes.  Huzzah.

Notre Dame still ranked.  They are wet garbage.

TCU getting votes.  Hot, wet garbage.

Nebraska getting more votes than AU.  Nebraska is hot, wet, rotting garbage.

Va. Tech getting votes. Tech is hot, wet, rotting, dead animal garbage.  Six loss team probably.

Pfffttttttfffttffffttt.

They didn't want to vote for a school that pays their players.  Didn't you read the Yahoo story?  Confirmed what the whole nation has always known.  That Auburn cheats.

In the immortal words of AWK....lulz.. wut?!
A billion times more logical and scientific than either the AP or coach's poll.

Seriously.

Obviously this one takes SOS and margin of victory vs. quality of opponent heavily in its weight. I'm not surprised we're #1 in that category.

Washington State is going to be a contender in the Pac-whatever. Will be interesting to see how they fare against Stanford in a few weeks. Talk about another overrated-as-shit team. 34-20 against Army and 34-13 against San Jose St. That qualifies them for #5?? Washington State will get probably their only loss of the year to Oregon.

Well, those crack smokers are part of the BCS rankings, so there's that (it's strictly a strength of schedule based poll)...but hey, I'll take it.

#1 MUTHA BITCHES!!!!!

You guys would have me believe I'm smoking crack, because regardless of Auburn being at the top, I think it is much more logical and equitable than the ones we see out there now.

It's based on who you played and how you played them. As it should be. Not who yer diddy pulled for in the 70's.

I love computers.  AL.com a day late of course.

Quote
Auburn rated No. 1 in early-season computer ranking used in BCS formula

AUBURN, Alabama -- Two of the six computer rankings in the BCS formula have placed Auburn in the top 5 nationally, including one No. 1 ranking, three weeks into the season.

Yes, the 3-0 Auburn Tigers are No. 1 in the country in at least one computer ratings system.

The Colley's Bias Free Matrix Ratings lists the Tigers as the top team in the country and the Massey Ratings lists Auburn at No. 3. The computer poll measures "only on results from the field , with absolutely no influence from opinion, past performance, tradition or any other bias factor," according to the Colley Matrix website. The poll does not release a preseason ranking and scoring margin does not matter.

The top five of the Colley Matrix looks like this, respectively: Auburn, Oklahoma, Alabama, Oregon and Washington.

The two computer ratings are used in the BCS formula, but both rarely carry any weight in projections early in the season. Many BCS projections rarely use the two computers in the first few weeks of the season because of its wild early-season rankings.

The first BCS poll is not released until Oct. 13, the eighth week of the season.

The Tigers received votes in the two human polls this week, and would be 33rd in the AP poll and 34th in the USA Today coaches' poll if they were extended.
Auburn (3-0, 1-0 SEC) travels to No. 6 LSU (3-0) for a 6:45 p.m. kickoff Saturday on ESPN.

The Roundtable (whom I usually respect) had a debate on whether or not Auburn would break the top 25 with an upset win over LSU in Death Valley.

The consensus was that yes, we would break the top 25.  Dunnaway said he could see Auburn around 19 or 20.  Brown said he'd move Auburn into the 14/15 area.

But it wasn't a shot down conversation.  It wasn't a "Oh this is ridiculous, of course a 4-0 Auburn team with a win over LSU should be ranked.  The question is should they be top 10."

Because if the voters held themselves to any amount of accountability, they would respect their own ranking of LSU and be thoroughly impressed by an Auburn upset.  In fact, they'd have to ask themselves if it actually was an upset.  This is a new season.  Auburn could be a top ten team this year.  So could Missouri.  It's not like they'd know the difference or not.  It's not like they're actually watching every game.

All they're doing is going with traditional teams and teams that did well last year.

I think we could expect to move up 7 or eight spots especially with the perceived degree of difficulty. LSU has 24 straight ESPN victories.

A lot has been made of this. Seen even Auburn fans say this one poll is evidence that the BCS is complete garbage and a joke. People are saying that at least this poll should be removed from the formula.

WTF? Why is it so difficult to comprehend that Auburn has the highest cumulative SOS with the best results against those opponents? Why is this an alien concept? Last year means fuck-all when it comes to the criteria used in this poll, which IMO should be how all of the polls operate.

The actual AP & Coach's polls are 10x more laughable to me than this poll, as Kaos supported in the OP of this thread.

I'm not saying we should be BCS#1, but as one component of the formula, what exactly is so ridiculous about removing bias and history, and only looking at who had the best results against the best competition?

After losing to the #6 team, in their notoriously loud house, in the rain, by two touchdowns and driving to the very last second of the game...

Zero votes this week. Zero. Nada. Nill.

FUCK the pollsters in their collective asses. Again, we're not gunning for a top spot by any means this year, but for fuck's sake, this is ridiculous.

Texas Tech still hanging around the 24 & 25 spot for a 20-10 victory over TCU whose only win so far this year is to SE Louisiana by 21, but also hung in there with LSU about the same as we did. That transitive property is enough to get Texas Tech ranked, but not give us a single goddamn vote.

Fresno Goddamn State is ranked, for upsetting the mighty post-Kellen-Moore Boise State 41-40. And we don't get a solitary vote.

Washington is six-fucking-teen.

I could go on literally all day about what a travesty it is that we can't garner a single fucking vote with the clowns that are solidly in the polls.

FUCKING RUTGERS GOT A VOTE!!! Their OT loss to Fresno State, a win over the mighty Norfolk St., and a 28-10 victory over Eastern Michigan along with this 28-24, lucky-as-shit win against what looks to be the worst team in the SEC this year, is apparently more impressive than beating a team that knocked off USC and just beat another team 42-0 this weekend, an SEC Team that also won 62-7 this weekend, the reigning Sunbelt champions, but coming up 2 TDs short against the #6 team in the nation.

Not convinced if Auburn won out the season and ran the table on the remainder of the SEC that we would crack the Top 15 at this point.

It doesn't matter much to me but we would be ranked if we score that last TD we were driving for. Don't you think?

I agree with what you are saying. I would think we would have at least a few votes based on our second half. But, unti we beat a ranked team or keep it in single digits, I guess it's not likely.

Have you forgotten?  We are 3-9.  We are basically half a rung above Mississippi State for all eternity.

That's how we're viewed for some reason I'll never understand.

While I appreciate your enthusiasm, you picked teams that are unbeaten to rant on and that is something we aren't.  While those teams you have mentioned don't have a "signature" victory, we really don't either. A 2-2 MSU squad?  Nah, WSU is our best victory and we will see this weekend what they are really made of.   While giving the #6 team all they wanted in the second half of the game, we still lost.  If we had been ranked 20 to 25th we would have dropped out.  I can understand why we aren't ranked.

I will give you Rutgers getting a vote and will also wonder why we didn't but UCF and Va Tech get votes.  Right now, I don't care if we are ranked or not.  Don't care about other teams.  All I care about is that we improve every game and take care of business.  We do that we will be ranked before too long.

I disagree while Arkansas is a bad team, Tennessee is clearly the worst team in the SEC.

Maybe Kentucky? They lost to a team Tenn throttled. We know they are the two worst no doubt. Expected a little more from arky though.
