Looking at the ESPN rankings and saw the comment below.  I chortled.

Gamecock fans act like they have just started playing football in 2009.  They have the cockiness of bama with the trophy case of vandy.

Georgia Ranked 11th.
TCU Ranked 24th.

Auburn receiving 0 votes.

Don't get me wrong. We certainly shouldn't be ranked. Not all that surprised we didn't get a single vote, although Arkansas managed to.

It will never make any sense to me that a team that is 0-1 deserves to remain ranked, let alone 11th, over roughly half the teams in FBS that are 1-0.

I get it. Quality of wins, etc., etc.

But if you're going to use that logic, hypothetically if Eastern Washington was an FBS team, shouldn't they jump in front of those teams with losses?

I dunno. Water is wet. The BCS makes no sense.

It is absolutely a crock of shit that Arkansas got a vote and we did not.  Now granted,it was probably an Arkansas fan that gave thema vote. But it's still a black eye on the ranking system which generates TV hype for upcoming games and sways bowls selection committees when choosing teams.

Question:

If there were no preseason polls and you had to rank a top 5 based solely on what you saw and know about teams after this first week, who do you pick?  I know, way too tough after just one game.  But if you had no preconceived notions about teams prior to the season....

1. LSU
2. Clemson
3. Oregon (They're just so fast)
4. Alabama
5. South Carolina

No preconceived notions?

Not Oregon.  They played nobody.  In fact, that would be a great way to get rid of these cupcake openers for some teams.

1.  Clemson
2. Florida State
3.  LSU
4.  South Carolina
5. Oklahoma State

After week 1 based solely on wins and strength of schedule...

1. Clemson
2. LSU
3. Alabama
4. Oklahoma
5. Ole Miss

Stanford and FSU have won the last two v. Oregon and Clemson.

1)Alabama gets top billing.
2)Oregon doesn't get rolled and only an idiot would wish to defend that.
3)LSU and Miles are the perennial Wild Card.
4)South Carolina can generally take out UGA and Clemson.
5)Stanford has been very solid under Shaw.

I love me some Dabo sideline reactions and pre or post-game interviews.

No real surprise to me. AP tends to suck the perennial power weenus. That's seen year in/year out in the preseason rankings.

Coaches poll.. little surprising, but at the same time I think Auburn is still pretty much not on everyone's radar (plus Auburn got very little coverage in highlights.. which let's face it, coaches poll is word of mouth and highlights).

If Auburn beats Miss St I'd say that may crack the top 25, but Ark St could give us fits this weekend.

I also think some of this is by design. The AP and voting members of the Coaches have SEC fatigue.. thus why you see so many Pac 12 teams/etc.

As much as ESPN is riding Ole Miss right now, I'd be shocked if they didn't crack into the top 25 this weekend.

Yeppers.  If we were to beat ASU and MSU and be 3-0, we should start to get some love.  Need to keep in mind that Saturday night was two shitty 3-9 teams.  The sporting world thought 2 Care Bears Pillow Fighting.

I think at 3-0 we might nudge the 22 to 25 area. Beat LSU (which I don't think we do) and we get in the 10 to 15 range.

Most everybody remembers how shitty we were last year.
