Therezie named SEC Defensive Player of the Week
Alex Byington | Opelika-Auburn News
Making what at the time seemed like a fill-in start might have solidified a lot more playing time for Auburn star safety Robenson Therezie.
Therezie was named the Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after a two-interception, seven-tackle performance in Saturday's 31-24 season-opening victory over Washington State.
Therezie was a late addition to the Tigers’ starting lineup after it was decided just before game time that expected starter Justin Garrett wasn’t able to go with a left foot injury.
“I knew in camp when Garrett went down that he might not play, the injury was pretty severe … so I knew I had to step up to be that man,†Therezie said after the game.
Therezie made his presence felt almost immediately, registering Auburn’s first interception of the season on a tipped pass from Cougars quarterback Connor Halliday with 3:43 left in the first quarter. The pick deep in Washington State territory led directly to Auburn’s first touchdown, an 8-yard touchdown run by Tre Mason.
“It was very rewarding, I knew we had to get off the field in a close game, and we talk about facing that adversity, I know we were in it and I had to make a play,†Therezie said of his first career interception.
Therezie also added what was effectively a game-sealing interception in the fourth quarter to end an 11-play drive that brought the Cougars to Auburn’s 8-yard line before his pick with 4:46 left in the gam

So here is my question, when Justin Garett is healthy to play again, why not friggin move Therezie to MLB?

I just think Therieze was perfect for that position against Leach's pass happy offense. Whether Garrett was healthy or not on Saturday Therieze was going to be playing a lot.

So leave Therieze at Star and put Garrett at MLB

I don't think y'all are thinking about it correctly.
Therezie at the Star
Garrett at the WLB
Adams at the MLB
-
I believe our secondary played lights out football. Coach Ellis Johnson says "outstanding."

Isn't Adams a scholarly young man too?

I think it's worth trying knowing now what we do about Adams. He's an absolute impact player.

CEJ stating that our LB's graded a B- or C+ is def not what I woulda guessed. I figured D- but he attributed some of their lack of production to mistakes by the D line in stunts, etc. His mentioning that Frost had more production than Jake but some mental errors makes me wonder if we will see Frost as the starter.

More production....more production....a half a tackle is more production.

Maybe opposing teams are so intimidated by Jake that they run away from him and......never mind.

Robenson Therezie Named the Jim Thorpe Defensive Back of the Week
CLEVELAND, Ohio- After recording two interceptions for Auburn in their 31-24 win over Washington State, junior safety Robenson Therezie (Miami, FL) has been named the Jim Thorpe Defensive Back of the Week.
Therezie’s first interception came in the opening quarter, which helped set up Auburn’s first touchdown of the game. His second interception came in the end zone to stop a Washington State scoring drive late in the fourth quarter, which sealed the game for the Tigers.
With his two picks, Therezie became the first Auburn player with two interceptions in a game since linebacker Josh Bynes did so in 2010 versus Arkansas. He also added a career-high seven tackles.

I wonder when the last time an Auburn DB had 2 picks in a game was? 1994 LSU?

Oh shit! That means Therezie is destined for either Troy, Jacksonville or UNA.
